  • Two-phase simultaneous excitation mode of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) has been shown to effectively improve the average torque output compared with traditional single-phase excitation mode. But the torque ripple of the two-phase excitation SRM with traditional winding distribution increases because of the inconsistent electromagnetic field. To reduce the torque ripple, a two-phase excitation 8/6 SRM with novel winding distribution is proposed in this paper. The static torques generated by various magnetic circuits are analyzed and obtained to verify the torque increase. Then the electromagnetic characteristics of the proposed SRM are investigated by the numerical calculation method in detail, including flux linkage, inductance, and torque. Finally, an experiment for measuring the SRM static electromagnetic characteristics and dynamic performance is designed and performed based on the novel mode, and the comparing results show that the proposed two-phase SRM is effective.

  • The removal of nitrogen oxides(NOx) from $N_{2}/O_{2}$ gas using a pulsed corona discharge was investigated as a function of the reduced electric field(E/N) and the energy density(J/L). A kinetic model was developed to characterize the chemical reactions taking place in a pulsed corona discharge reactor. The model calculates the fractional concentrations of radical species at each pulse-on period and utilizes the radicals to remove NOx for the subsequent pulse-off period. Electron collision reaction data are calculated using ELENDIF program to solve Boltzmann equation for electron energy distribution function, and the subsequent chemical reactions are calculated using CHEMKIN-II program to solve stiff ODE(ordinary differential equation) problems for species concentrations. The corona discharge energy per pulse and the time-space averaged E/N were obtained by fitting the model to experimental data. The model calculation shows good agreement with the experimental data, and predicts the formation of other species such as $NO_{2}$, $O_{3}$ and $N_{2}O$.

  • Electrostatic fluctuations near upper-hybrid frequency, which are sometimes accompanied by multiple-harmonic electron cyclotron frequency bands above and below the upper-hybrid frequency, are common occurrences in the Earth's radiation belt, as revealed through the twin Van Allen Probe spacecraft. In the literature upper-hybrid emissions are used for estimating the background electron density, which in turn can be used to determine the plasmapause locations, but the role of energetic electrons in generating such fluctuations has not been discussed. The present paper carries out detailed analyses of data from the Waves instrument, which is part of the Electric and Magnetic Field Instrument Suite and Integrated Science (EMFISIS) suite onboard the Van Allen Probes. Combined with theoretical calculation, it is demonstrated that the peak intensity associated with the upper-hybrid fluctuations is predominantly determined by tenuous but energetic electrons, and that denser and less energetic background electrons do not contribute much to the peak intensity. This finding shows that upper-hybrid fluctuations detected during quiet time are useful not only for the determination of the electron density, but also they contain information on the ambient energetic electron population as well.

  • The radiation characteristics of the conical corrugated feed horn are analyzed by the Gaussian beam mode theory. the electric field over the aperture can be expanded in terms of a set of Gaussian-Laguerre modes. It is proved that these modes are the solutions of the wave epuations for the paraxial approximation. A method, using the sum of the mode expansion coefficients instead of calculation only the fundamental mode, is presented in order to reduce the radiation pattern error. For illustrative examples, the radiation patterns of the corrugated horn antenna operting over C, Ku, and mm-wave band are calculated. Our results agree well with the results obtained by the vector potential method over each band, and also agree well with the measured value at 6.175GHz.

In this study, we analyzed the aerodynamic characteristic of a developing pantograph on the tilting train and obtained the contact force with catenary by aerodynamic lift force by the aerodynamic analysis. We also performed the numerical analysis for design the device controlling lift force on a pantograph. From the aerodynamic simulation and parameter study for a device to control the lift force, we will suggest the various shape and the optimal shape of it corresponding to a developing tilting pantograph. • Magnetic resonance wireless power transfer (WPT) in the marine environment can be utilized in many applications. However, energy loss in seawater through eddy loss (EL) is another consideration other than WPT in air. Therefore, the effect of system parameters on electric field intensity (EFI) needs to be measured and ELs calculated to optimize such a system. In this paper, the usually complicated analytical expression of EFI is simplified to the product of frequency, current, coil turns, and a coefficient to analyze the eddy current loss (ECL). Moreover, as the calculation of ECL through volume integral is time-consuming, the equivalent eddy loss impedance (EELI) is proposed to help designers determine the optimum parameters quickly. Then, a power distribution model in seawater is conceived based on the introduction of EELI. An optimization flow chart is also proposed according to this power distribution model, from which a prototype system is developed which can deliver 100 W at 90% efficiency with a gap of 30 mm and a frequency of 107.1 kHz.

  • Our work on $Sc_2O_3-W$ matrix dispenser cathodes had been reviewed in this paper. The cathode with uniform distribution of $Sc_2O_3$ had been obtained using liquid-liquid doping method. The cathode had excellent emission property, i.e., the emission current density in pulse condition could reach over $35A/cm^2$. It was found that the cathode surface was covered by a Ba-Sc-O active substance multilayer with a thickness of about 100 nm, which was different from the monolayer and semiconducting layer in thickness. Furthermore, the observation results displayed that nanoparticles appeared at the growth steps and the surface of tungsten grains of the fully activated cathode. The calculation result indicated that the nanoparticles could cause the increase of local electric field strengths. We proposed the emission model that both the Ba-Sc-O multilayer and the nanoparticles distributing mainly on the growth steps of the W grains contributed to the emission. The future work on this cathode has been discussed.

  • This paper proposed the analysis method of the cavity resonance characteristics for a metallic enclosure with a PCB trace source. In order to calculation the electromagnetic fields inside the cavity, coupled integral equations for a current distribution on the PCB trace and an aperture electric field distribution on the boundary of the PCB dielectric are derived and solved by applying Galerkin's method of moments. The result show that the resonant characteristics of the metallic enclosure are fairly good agreement with the simulation(HFSS) and the measured results. The resonant frequencies of the metallic enclosure with the PCB trace are changed by the PCB trace location inside of the cavity. In order to check the validity of the theoretical analysis, the calculated return losses are compared with the measured results.

  • This paper propose how to calculate the capacitance for VLSI interconnection lines in multi-dielectric layer. The proposed method is a expansive form of 3-dimensional direct intergral method developed in single-dielectric layer. We took into consideration the effect of multi-dielectric layer by using additional boundary condition instead of modified Green's function. It is used the potential equations in line surface and the electric field equations in dielectric interface as the boundary condition. RC delay time for interconnection line of multi-dielectric layer is obtained from the calculated capacitance value. At this time, we are used Al and WSiS12T as interconnection materials.
