A study on the remote MW control of a steam turbine (원격 급전소에서 발전소 출력을 제어하기 위한 시스템 연구)

  • The electricity demand has been in the trend of increase for the past 30 years except last year due to economic crisis. The central electrical power dispatch center anticipates each and every hour's electricity demand and dispatch every power plant's output(MW) taking into account of the costs, frequency regulation abilities, locations, reliabilities and so on. to meet the demand as quickly as possible. The large portion of the power plants' output is contolled automatically by the AGC(Automatic Generation Control) function which is a part of the EMS(Energy Manage System) computer in the dispatch center. To receive the electrical power dispatch signal from the EMS, a power plant should have a remote MW control feature in the turbine control system or unit master control system. We investigated the AGC function and a power plant's remote MW control configuration.

  • The brake system of a high speed train has a crucial role for the safety of the train. To develop a safe brake system of the high speed train, it is necessary to understand the braking principle and phenomena of the total brake system and its subsystems. In this paper, we have suggested a mathematical model which includes car dynamics, interactions between cars, adhesive forces, brake blending algorithm, and the dynamics of each brake devices. Also, we have proposed a ready-time compensation algorithm of eddy-current brake system and a brake control logic on electric-pneumatic blending. A simulation study has shown the proposed models and algorithms are effective on the braking of the train.

  • Almost domestic power plants are being operated by foreign distributed control system. Many korean power plants are being operated over their lifetime so they need to be retrofitted. So we are developing the distributed control system to solve this problem by our own technique. The simulator was already made to verify the reliability of the algorithms. The unit loop function tests of all algorithms were finished in the actual distributed control system for installation of power plant and their results were satisfactory. The unit loop function tests are for each unit equipment algorithm. So the total operation tests will be made with all algorithms together in the actual distributed control system to be applied to power plant. When the verification through all tests is finished, algorithms with hardware will be scheduled to be installed and operated in the actual power plant. This research result will contribute to the safe operation of the deteriorated power plant and korean electric power supply as well as domestic technical progress. This entire processes and results for the development are written for the example of boiler feedwater master algorithm out of all algorithms in this paper.

  • The control of magnetization by an electric field at room temperature remains as one of great challenges in materials science. Multiferroics, in which magnetism and ferroelectricity coexist and couple to each other, could be the most plausible candidate to realize this long-sought capability. While recent intensive research on the multiferroics has made significant progress in sensitive, magnetic control of electric polarization, the electrical control of magnetization, the converse effect, has been observed only in a limited range far below room temperature. Here we demonstrate at room temperature the control of both electric polarization by a magnetic field and magnetization by an electric field in a multiferroic hexaferrite. The electric polarization rapidly increases in a magnetic field as low as 5 mT and the magnetoelectric susceptibility reaches up to 3200 ps/m, the highest value in single phase materials. The magnetization is also modulated up to 0.34 mB per formula unit in an electric field of 1.14 MV/m. Furthermore, this compound allows nonvolatile, magnetoelectric reading- and writing-operations entirely at room temperature. Four different magnetic/electric field writing conditions generate repeatable, distinct M versus E curves without dissipation, offering an unprecedented opportunity for a multi-bit memory or a spintronic device applications.

  • This research is about the remote control of the infra-ray signal producer and the received signal memory-type control unit. Also by using the infra-ray signal from the remote control, reduction of malfunctions due to infra-ray signal from other devices are presented. Applications on various electric and electronic items to improve the convenience are also shown.

  • Controller that is designed in this paper is form that apply PID controller about Fuzzy algorithm. Fuzzy Controller that using this paper is can speak that compensation style fuzzy controller as form to solidify action of PID controller for plant.   • In this pager, we present IGBT VVVF inverters as a 1C1M propulsion system for electric car. This inverters are composed of high power IGBT's and controlled by compact control units. The control unit performs full digital control by using 32bit DSP and microconteroller. By using CAN-bus, high speed network is constructed within tow control units. The stack is simplified and optimized by using plate bus and IGBT driver units of hybrid-type.

MPC-based Two-stage Rolling Power Dispatch Approach for Wind-integrated Power System

  • Regarding the fact that wind power forecast accuracy is gradually improved as time is approaching, this paper proposes a two-stage rolling dispatch approach based on model predictive control (MPC), which contains an intra-day rolling optimal scheme and a real-time rolling base point tracing scheme. The scheduled output of the intra-day rolling scheme is set as the reference output, and the real-time rolling scheme is based on MPC which includes the leading rolling optimization and lagging feedback correction strategy. On the basis of the latest measured thermal unit output feedback, the closed-loop optimization is formed to correct the power deviation timely, making the unit output smoother, thus reducing the costs of power adjustment and promoting wind power accommodation. We adopt chance constraint to describe forecasts uncertainty. Then for reflecting the increasing prediction precision as well as the power dispatcher's rising expected satisfaction degree with reliable system operation, we set the confidence level of reserve constraints at different timescales as the incremental vector. The expectation of up/down reserve shortage is proposed to assess the adequacy of the upward/downward reserve. The studies executed on the modified IEEE RTS system demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • In this paper, Development of propulsion system using IPM(Intelligent Power Module) for DC electric vehicle is proposed. Designed propulsion system is comprised of inverter stack which includes 6 IPM, BCH(Breaking Chopper) unit, FC(Filter Capacitor), Control unit. IPM can compose propulsion system simple by including gate drive circuit and protection circuit. Inverter stack is designed as a simple structure using IPM and non clamp capacitor. VVVF Inverter control is used the vector control strategy at low velocity region and slip frequency-control strategy at high velocity region. Designed propulsion system proves the performance through test and revenue service.

  • Fundamental positioning characteristics of a dual-axis Sawyer linear motor are described. The Sawyer motor is capable of high positional accuracy. An electronic control unit of the motor whose velocity is proportional to the frequency of the electric current was produced in our laboratory. The positioning system was constructed using two Sawyer motors, an air bearings suspension unit and an electronic control unit. The stable motion of the motor was confirmed on the open loop operation. The adjustable operating conditions were the live load of 1 kg, the maximum acceleration of 1.2G and the maximum velocity of 350 mm/s. Absolute positioning accuracy was improved within .+-.5.mu.m, on microstep operating conditions of dividing one pitch of 508.mu.m into 508 steps. The following two conclusions were obtained. An accelerating-cruising-decelerating control is effective for reduction in the travel time required. Also, microstep operation is effective for improving the resolution of position.
