A Study on Repowering of Domestic Aged Coal-fired Power Plant

  • Recently, the public opinion is growing that the main cause of greenhouse gas, fine dust and nitrogen oxide, sulfuric acid emission is coal-fired power plant, and now the decommission or conversion to other clean fuel is being demanded. However, it is a huge national loss to decommission coal-fired power plant with remaining life, and also simple fuel converting to natural gas will lead to drastic rise on power generating cost. Therefore, this study aims to provide the analysis result about the reduction effect of $CO_2$, environment emission, and to influence to power plant performance and facilities when repowering with adding gas turbine is applied to domestic aged coal-fired power plant.

  • The electric snow melting and deicing system by electric heating cable which is adopted in this study is a part of road facilities to keep surface temperature of the road higher than freezing point of water for melting the snow or ice accumulated on it. The electric heating cables are buried under paved road at a certain depth and a certain pitch and operated automatically and manually. Design theory, amount of heating, and installation standard vary according to economic situation, weather condition, and installation place. A main purpose of this study is figuring out the appropriate range of required heat capacity and installation depth and pitches for solving snowdrifts and freezing problems with minimum electric power consumption. This study was performed under the ambient air temperature($-2^{\circ}C$, $-5^{\circ}C$), the pitches of the electric heating cables (200 mm, 300 mm), heating value ($250\;W/m^2$, $300\;W/m^2$, $350\;W/m^2$).

  • As the big data analysis technologies has been developed worldwide, the importance of asset management for electric power facilities based data analysis is increasing. It is essential to secure quality of data that will determine the performance of the RISK evaluation algorithm for asset management. To improve reliability of asset management, asset data must be preprocessed. In particular, the process of cleaning dirty data is required, and it is also urgent to develop an algorithm to reduce time and improve accuracy for data treatment. In this paper, the result of the development of an automatic cleaning algorithm specialized in overhead transmission asset data is presented. A data cleaning algorithm was developed to enable data clean by analyzing quality and overall pattern of raw data.

  • This paper gives the support method of DSM program(power load leveling for heating and cooling facilities on building). As the national power peak load increases recently, the peak load reduction is needed. So we studied about remote controlling of power load from heating/cooling facilities on building during peak times. To adopt new DSM program, it is very important to design DSM customer supporting system. So in this paper, we dealt with the result of customer survey, and the DSM potential regarding heating/cooling facilities on building. In conclusion, the peak reduction program of heating/cooling facilities is very important and the incentive of customer should be consist of two incentive types as an installation and power reduction.

  • 산업사회의 발전에 필수적인 요소 중의 하나로서, 전력 에너지의 수요는 과학 기술의 발전에 따라 꾸준히 증가해오고 있다. 전력의 수요에 부응하기 위해, 고전압과 대용량을 감당할 전력설비기 필요하다. 튼튼한 바탕 위에서 전력을 생산 공급하기 위해서는 전기 시설은 신뢰성 있게 운전해야 한다. 전력 설비가 사고를 일으킬 경우 막대한 국가적 손실을 초래하게 된다. 국가 기간 산업 시설의 중추적인 기능을 하고 있는 전력 설비는 가능한 안정된 상태를 유지하면서 오랜 기간 동안 운전할 수 있어야 하며, 사고를 미리 예방할 수 있어야 한다. 전력을 전달하기 위한 수단으로서 사용되고 있는 케이블 설계 시 수명을 약 30년으로 간주하지만, 많은 경우의 실제 현장에서는 8~12년 정도에서 파괴 현상이 발생하여 재산상의 큰 피해를 초래한다. 본 논문은 운전 중 22kV 케이블 시스템의 열화 과정에 대한 연구를 통하여 열화의 원인을 파악하였으며, 와이블 분포만 따르는 것이 아니라 열열화 후 와이블 열화를 거쳐 부분 방전에 의하여 케이블이 파괴되는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • 전동 엑추에이터는 사용자의 명령 입력 신호(열림/닫힘/정지)를 받아 엑추에이터 내부의 각종 센서(밸브의 위치, 회전력, 모터의 상태 등)들의 상태를 확인하고 모터를 정/역 제어하여 밸브를 개폐하고 엑추에이터(밸브)의 현재 상태를 출력하는 장치로 댐, 발전소, 상하수도 시설, 송유관 시설 등 다양한 분야에서 사용하는 장치이다. 전동 엑추에이터가 발전소 등에 설치되어 가동 중 문제가 발생할 경우 경제적으로 큰 손실이 발생할 수 있으므로 시스템의 신뢰성이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 전동 엑추에이터의 안전성을 높이기 위해 소프트웨어적으로 발생할 수 있는 신뢰성 문제를 하드웨어적으로 ON/OFF 시간 설정이 가능한 전동 엑추에이터 컨트롤 장치 개발을 진행하였다. 또한 전동 엑추에이터 제어 장치 개발 환경은 Xilinx 사의 Spartan7 FPGA와 Altium 툴을 활용하여 개발하였다.

  • There are several facilities in Kochang distribution test center such as artificial fault generator(AFG), new distribution automation system(NDAS), communication networks (wireless and optic), lumped constant circuit, switches for distribution automation, overhead and underground distribution line. We have been field testing on remote control, data acquisition. remote metering, feeder automation and so on for distribution automation using those equipment.

  • The commercial contract was made firstly in the world for one set of high temperature superconducting(HTS) cable system between buyer, Korea Electric Power Research Institute and seller, Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. in August 2004. After fabrication, test and examination, the HTS cable system will be installed at the KEPRI's test field in Gochang, Jeonbuk province from the time of July 2005. KEPRI is preparing measurement and test facilities for field test of the HTS cable system and carrying out researches into the design and construction of superconducting cable test building, evaluation of cooling performance, measurement of AC loss, analysis of the quench phenomena due to excess current and means of linking the HTS cable system to the existing electric power supplying system. The constitution of, the method to install and the plan of test operation of the HTS cable system will be presented in this paper.

  • Using much electric resistivity survey to design or preservation administration of facilities. However, By survey method that electric resistivity survey grasps special quality in base by potential difference creating artificial current in underground, Is influenced in electric resistance propensitys of various underground utilities in base. This Study selects dam 1 place that could grasp well underground situation and studied electricity interference effect by effect of underground utilities. Grasp underground utilities of dam interior, and control and observed accuracy with survey wave because various pole space. Through this Study, wish to present survey method of electric resistivity survey at design or survey of preservation administration dimension after with drawn result.

Revenue Maximizing Scheduling for a Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Station with Solar PV and ESS

  • The modern transportation and mobility sector is expected to encounter high penetration of Electric Vehicles (EVs) because EVs contribute to reducing the harmful emissions from fossil fuel-powered vehicles. With the prospective growth of EVs, sufficient and convenient facilities for fast charging are crucial toward satisfying the EVs' quick charging demand during their trip. Therefore, the Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (FECS) will be a similar role to gas stations. In this paper, we study a charging scheduling problem for the FECS with solar photovoltaic (PV) and an Energy Storage System (ESS). We formulate an optimization problem that minimizes the operational costs of FECS. There are two cost and one revenue terms that are buying cost from main grid power, ESS degradation cost, and revenue from the charging fee of the EVs. Simulation results show that the proposed scheduling algorithm reduces the daily operational cost by effectively using solar PV and ESS.
