  • This study deals with the development of PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) for automotive EDC(Electric Drive Compressor). We have already developed the previous version of PMSM. It showed the characteristics of small size and high efficiency. But noise and vibration levels were higher than target values, so it was impossible to apply. So, in order to reduce noise and vibration levels, many parameters like the numbers of slots, the numbers of winding turns, and slot open width were changed. As a result, noise level of newly developed PMSM was decreased about 36.9% at maximum operating frequency (8600 rpm), and was reduced about 37.7% at rated frequency (6000 rpm) with the same sized and more efficient PMSM.

  • Currently under development is an airborne auxiliary power unit with 100 Kw equivalent power, which is composed of a centrifugal compressor, a reverse annular combustor, and a radial turbine. Air-foil bearings are used in this power unit to eliminate the oil supplying system, which can reduce the system complexity and weight. The high speed generator is adopted as an electric power generation and engine starting system, which can also eliminate the reduction gear system. Not only electric power but also pneumatic power is provided by bleeding the compressed air This power unit is aimed for the multi-purpose use such as a primary power unit In the army weapon system, an auxiliary power and environmental control unit in a next-generation tank, and a smoke generating unit.

  • In this study, theoretical simulation method for the steady state characteristics of a refrigeration cycle which consists of one condenser and multi-evaporator (Multi-air conditioner) is presented. The simulation was performed for a typical multi-air conditioning system consisted one outdoor unit with air-cooled condenser, compressor, linear electric expansion valve and bypass circuit and connected three-evaporators (three indoor units). The simulation results are good agreement with those of experiments within 5 $\sim$ 10% at the given system operation conditions which are condensing pressure, evaporating pressure, sub-cooled degree of condenser, superheated degree, discharge temperature of compressor and pulse of linear electric expansion valve.

  • In industrial field, especially the mobile generator is almost used as a islanding generator source for light, electric thrill, and compressor, and so on. However, because there still exists a lot of aged load, it causes the electric shock against person. In this paper authors introduce the proper method to reduce the electric shock in field discussing the scheme of ground connection.

하절기 기화냉각장치 설치에 따른 가스터빈 성능변화 (Performance Change of Gas Turbine with a Evaporation Cooling System in Summer Season)

  • 본 연구는 하절기 가스터빈 압축기 입구에 설치된 기화냉각장치로 인하여 저하된 공기온도가 가스터빈 성능에 어떠한 변화를 미치는지에 대하여 해석하였다. 연구 대상은 인천화력본부 가스터빈 3호기이며, 기종은 Siemens SGT6-4000F(V 84.3A)이다. 기화냉각장치 설치 전후를 비교하기 위하여 특설계측기를 설치하였으며, 2015년 8월 3일에서 14일까지 11시부터 15시 사이에 대기온도 $29{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ 조건에서 설치 전후 각각 5회씩 총 10회에 걸쳐 정밀성능시험을 시행하고 각각의 평균값을 적용하였다. 시험 결과, 가스터빈 압축기 입구 공기온도 $4.12^{\circ}C$ 저하로 공기 밀도가 증가되어 압축기 압력비는 0.27 증가, 압축기 효율은 0.29 %p 상승, 가스터빈 엔탈피강하 효율은 0.31 %p 증가하였고, 가스터빈 효율은 0.44%p, 출력은 4,489 kW가 증대되는 효과를 얻을 수 있었으며, 습도 및 유동저항 증가에 따른 영향은 미미하였다.

  • In this paper. the lumped electrical circuit approach of mass/spring system is used to model the mechanical aspects according to the frequency. Therefore, the mass/spring system can be dealt with here and linked with the equivalent circuit of electric linear oscillatory actuator(LOA). Analysis models are double-coil type linear compressor for stirling refrigerator. The compressor consists of the moving coil LOA, piston, and spring. The electro-mechanical system with mass and spring can be represented using the lumped electrical circuit. We present the system impedance and dynamics of moving coil linear compressor.

차량용 에어컨의 성능에 미치는 인자에 관한 연구 (Parametric Study on Performance of an Automobile Air Conditioner)

  • This study was conducted to find performance evaluation method for automobile air conditioner. Experimental facilities were constructed to simulate wide range of operating condition for the automobile air conditioner. Compressor speed was controled by variable speed electric motor and the power was measured through torque transducer and tachometer was used to measure compressor speed. Parametric studies were conducted in this study, to figure out effect of environment variables on the performance of the automobile air conditioner. The environmental variables are inlet air temperature, relative humidity and air flow rate for the evaporator and inlet air temperature and air flow rate for the condenser. Compressor speed is also changed. The results of this study shows that air flow rate of the evaporator is more sensitive to the performance of the automobile air conditioner than the other variables. However relative humidity of the inlet air of the evaporator strongly affects capacity rather that COP.

수소액화 예냉용 소형 스털링 극저온 냉동기 특성 연구 (A Study on Stirling Cryocooler for Precooling Hydrogen Liquefier)

  • Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials (KIMM) has developed a high efficient Stirling cryocooler with moving magnet linear compressor for precooling hydrogen liquefier and cooling high temperature superconductor (HTS) devices, such as superconductor cable and superconductor fault current limiters. Hydrogen liquefier and HTS electric devices require cryocooler with cooling capacity of hundred watts to kilowatts at 77 K. The compressor in the Stirling cryocooler uses opposed moving magnet linear motors to drive opposed pistons. High efficient Stirling cryocooler is designed by SAGE-software, manufactured and tested systematically. A cooling capacity of 1 kW at 77 K with an electric input power of 9.6 kW has been analyzed. But prototype test results of the Stirling cryocooler have the cooling capacity of 0.65 kW at 76.8 K with an electric input power of 8.1 kW. And then, 21.5% Carnot COP (Coefficient of performance) of the prototype Stirling cryocooler is achieved. The comparison analysis between SAGE-model and experimental results has shown the direction for further design optimization of the Stirling cryocooler.

  • A $CO_2$ heat pump system was designed for both cooling and heating in the cabin of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles or fuel cell vehicles, In this study, the performance characteristics of the heat pump system without any supplementary heating device were analyzed and the heating performance was compared with the cooling performance for various operating conditions. Experiments were carried out by changing the speed of electric drive compressor, the air flow rate of interior heat exchanger and the air inlet temperature and speed of exterior heat exchanger. Therefore, the cooling/heating capacities and the corresponding COPs are quantified. Also, the heat pump system showed an improved performance for the cooling operation and the heating operation. In this study, the experimental results can be used to evaluate the effect of system design changes on system performance as well as the development of a highly efficient heat pump system.

EV 상용차용 히트펌프 시스템 냉방 운전 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Performance Characteristics of Heat Pump System on Cooling Mode for Light-duty Commercial Electric Vehicles)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 EV 경상용차에 적용되는 히트펌프 시스템에 대한 냉방 성능 특성을 실험적으로 분석하는 것이다. EV 경상용차가 운전되는 냉방 운전조건인 외기온도 35 ℃, 내기온도 25 ℃ 상황에서, 히트펌프 시스템의 냉방 특성을 분석하고자, 냉각수의 온도조건, 전동식 압축기 회전수 조건 변화에 대해서, 실험을 진행하였고, 그 결과를 분석하였다. 전동식 압축기 회전수가 증가할수록 냉방 성능이 평균 8.0 %가 증가하였고, 전동식 압축기 소비전력은 27 %가 증가하여서, 시스템 효율은 16.4 %가 감소하는 결과를 보여주고 있다. 전자장비 냉각을 위한 냉각수의 폐열을 활용하기 위하여서, 냉매랑 냉각수가 열교환 하는 칠러를 본 시스템에 적용하였다. 칠러에 적용되는 냉각수의 온도를 35 ℃에서 55℃로 변화시켰을 때, 응축 열원의 증가로 인하여서, 시스템 효율이 평균적으로 18.2 %가 떨어지는 결과를 보여주고 있다. 냉각수 유량 변화 측면에서, 운전 조건을 변화시켰지만, 냉방 성능에는 큰 변화를 보이고 있지 않았다. 향후, 냉각수 폐열을 사용하여서, 히트펌프 시스템에 대한 난방 성능 향상을 위한 연구가 필요한 상황에서, 관련 연구에 추가 할 예정이다.
