An elastic-plastic-viscous constitutive model was proposed based on a simple formulation scheme. The anisotropic modified Cam-Clay model was extended for the general stress space for the plastic simulation. The generalized viscous theory was simplified and used for the viscous constitutive part. A damage law was incoporated into the proposed constitutive model. The mathematical formulation and development of the model were performed from the point of view that fewer parameters be better employed. The creep behaviors with or without creep rupture were predicted using the developed model for cohesive soils. The model predictions were favorably compared with the experimental results including the undrained creep rupture, which is an important observed phenomenon for cohesive soils. Despite the simplicity of the constitutive model, it performs well as long as the time to failure ratio of the creep rupture tests is within the same order of magnitude.

A numerical method for perdicting the behavior of a reinforced concrete column under biaxial loading is proposed, using the layered finite element method. Concrete is assumed to exhibit strain softening and steel reinforcement is elastic-plastic. The bending theory assumptions are used and bond slip of reinforcement is meglected. To perdict the entire load-deformation characteristics, displacement control method is used. This method consider not only combined effect due to axial load and bending moment but also that due to bending moments. Predicted behaviors of reinforced concrete columns under biaxial loading through the numerical method proposed in this study show good agreements with test results.

In this study, the plastic zone and internal earth pressure of the tunnel were calculated using the following three methods: metal plasticity to analyze the deformation of metal during plastic processing, Terzaghi's earth pressure theory from the geotechnical perspective and modified Terzaghi's earth pressure theory, and slip line theory using Mohr-Coulomb yield conditions. All three methods are two-dimensional mathematical analysis models for analyzing the plane strain conditions of isotropic materials. Using the theory of metallurgical plastics, the plastic zone and the internal earth pressure of the ground were obtained by assuming that the internal pressure acts on the tunnel, so different results were derived that did not match the actual tunnel site, where only gravity was applied. An analysis of the plasticity zone and earth pressure via the slip-line method showed that a failure line is formed in a log-spiral, which was found to be similar to the real failure line by comparing the results of previous studies. The earth pressure was calculated using a theoretical method. Terzaghi's earth pressure was calculated to be larger than the earth pressure considering the dilatancy effect.

In this paper, to prediction of large deformation behavior of steel structures under loading, 3-Dimensional elastic-plastic FE analysis method is developed by using finite deformation theory and proposed cyclic plasticity model. The accuracy of developed analytical method was verified by comparison of experiment result and analysis results using infinitesimal deformation theory. The good agreement between analysis result by developed analytical method and experiment result is shown. Proposed 3-dimensional FE analysis using finite deformation theory and cyclic plasticity hysteresis model can be predict the large deformation of steel members under cyclic loading.

Yield and fracture are separated in the tensile failure of paper. Failure in the machine direction of photocopy paper is contrasted with failure in the cross-machine direction . The ratios of distortion (shape change) to dilatation (volume change) for individual elements at yield and fracture are described. The ratios of distortion to dilatation are measured and compared to predicted values of the strain energy density theory. To evaluate the effect of the angle from the principal material direction on the strain energy density theory. To evaluate the effect of the angle from the principal material direction on the strain energy density factor, samples are prepared from machine direction to cross-machine direction in 15 degree intervals. the strain energy density of individual elements are obtained by the integration of stress from finite element analysis with elastic plus plastic strain energy density theory. Poison's ratio and the angle from the principal material direction have a great effect ion the ratio fo distortion to dilatation in paper. During the yield condition, distortion prevails over dilatation . At fracture, dilatation is at a maximum.

Wrinkling is one of the major defects in sheet metal products and may be also attributable to the wear of the tool. The initiation and growth of the wrinkles are influenced by many factors such as stress state, mechanical properites of the sheet material, geometry of the body, and contact condition. It is difficult to analyze the wrinkling initiation and growth considering the factors because the effects of the factors are very complex and the wrinkling behavior may show wide variation for small deviation of the factors. In this study, the bifurcation theory is introduced for the finite element analysis of wrinkling initiation and growth, All the above mentioned factors are conveniently considered by finite element method. The finite element formulation is based on the incremental deformation theory and elastic-plastic material modeling. The finite element analysis is carried out using the continuum-based resultant shell elements considering the planar anisotropy of the sheet metal. The proposed method is verified by employing to column buckling problem. And then, the initiation and growth of wrinkling in deep drawing of cylindrical cup are analyzed.
In this paper, elastic and plastic adhesion index was very important in deciding adhesive characteristics and varying elastic and plastic index, dimensionless load and pull-off force were analyzed and simulated. Finally, using AFM, experimental surface roughness parameters of substrates and pull-off force between tip and substrates were produced. Using these values, pull-off forces were calculated and were compared with experimental pull-off forces. Through simulation and experiment, it was found that interaction of asperity also had very important influence on adhesive contact.
Metal thin films such as aluminum have been used as interconnects in semiconductor device. Recently, these materials are applied to structural materials in microsensors and microactuators. In this study, we evaluate deformation and strength behavior of aluminum alloy film. Three layer model for thermal deformation of multilayered thin film material is introduced and applied to Si/Al(1%Si)/$SiO_2$ system. Based on beam bending theory and concept of bending strain. elastic and elastic/plastic thermal deformation behaviors of multilayered materials can be estimated. In the case of plastic deformation of ductile layer, strain rate equations based on deformation mechanism map are employed for describe the stress relaxation effect. To experimentally examine deformation of multilayered thin film materials, in-situ laser scanning method is used to measure curvature of specimens during heating and cooling. The thickness of $SiO_2$ layer is varied to estimate third-layer effect of thermal deformation of metal films, and its effect on deformation behavior are discussed.
In the coiling process of helical steam generator tubes of integral reactor SMART, a considerable amount of spring back, which induces dimensional inaccuracy and difficulty in fabrication, has been arised. In this research, an analytical model was derived to evaluate the amount of the spring back for steam generator tubes. The model was developed on the basis of beam theory and elastic-perfectly plastic material property. This model was extended to consider the effect of plastic hardening and the effect of the tensile force on the spring back phenomena. Parametric studies were performed for various design variables of steam generator tubes in order to minimize the spring back in the design stage. A sensitivity analysis has shown that the low yield strength, the high elastic modulus, the small helix diameter, and the large tube diameter result in a small amount of the spring back. The amount of the spring back can be controlled by the selection of adequate design values in the basic design stage and reduced to an allowable limit by the application of the tensile force to the tube during the coiling process.

Rock salt is a near-perfect material for gas storage repositories due to its excellent ductility and low permeability. Gas storage in rock salt layers during gas injection and gas production causes the stress redistribution surrounding the cavity. The triaxial cyclic loading and unloading tests for rock salt were performed in this paper. The elastic-plastic deformation behaviour of rock salt under cyclic loading was observed. Rock salt experienced strain hardening during the initial loading, and the irreversible deformation was large under low stress station, meanwhile the residual stress became larger along with the increase of deviatoric stress. Confining pressure had a significant effect on the unloading modulus for the variation of mechanical parameters. Based on the theory of elastic-plastic damage mechanics, the evolution of damage during cyclic loading and unloading under various confining pressure was described.
