Creep tests were performed to determine the nonlinear viscoelastic properties of apples and pears with the creep experiment apparatus designed in this study. Compressive creep characteristics of fruits were tested at two kinds of storage conditions, four periods of storage and three levels of initial stress. Ten replications were made at each treatment combination. The creep behavior of the fruits could be well described by the nonlinear viscoelastic model as a function of initial stress and time. however, for each level of initial stress applied, the compressive behavior of the samples was satisfactorily represented by Burger's model. For all sample fruits, the longer the samples was stored, the higher the instantaneous elastic strain was observed, and the creep progressed at a high rate. These phenomena were even more remarkable on the fruit stored at the normal temperature storage rather than at the low temperature storage.
The mechanical properties of biological materials depend on numerous factors. The majority of these relationships are still unknown today, especially with regard to their quantitative characteristics. The reason is that biological materials constitute biomechanical systems of very complex construction, whose behavior cannot be characterized by simple physical constants, as for example can that of engineering materials. The objectives of this investigation were to determine the compression creep and recovery properties of rice stalks at various levels of applied load The compression creep and recovery behavior of the rice stalk could be predicted precisely by rheological model which approached closely to the measured values. But the coefficients of the Burgers recovery model were different from those of the creep model. The Steady state creep behavior occurred at the higher level of force and the logarithmic creep behavior occurred at the lower level of force. The mechanical model being expected the creep behavior in relation with the level of applied load, which was well explained that the rice stalk might be visco-elastic material.
Soil structures which are constructed over the soft ground settle continuously by the self-weight of embankment for a long time. It is because of timetependent behaviours . consolidation and creep occurring simultaneously. This paper tries to determine the required parameters for analysis of the creep behaviour in marine clays and studied the effect of the confining stress and stress level on the creep parameters . As a result, it presents an equation for the determination of creep parameters according to stress level considering that elastic modulus El and creep parameter f are found to be affected by the applied stress level.
In designing PSC box girder bridge, the dead load, prestressing force, creep and shrinkage of concrete are the main factors which influence the camber and deflection of segmental concrete structure under construction. Among these factors the creep and shrinkage are the functions of the time-dependent property which, therefore, must considered with time. The prediction model for estimating creep and shrinkage of concrete has been suggested by ACI, CEB/FIP, JSCE and KSCE design code. In this study the creep and shrinkage test were carried out for four curing ages of concrete which was applied to the pretressed concrete box-girder bridge at a construction site, and the results of test were compared to the values of prediction by the design code. Shrinkage test shows that the test results are similar to KSCE-96 and JSCE-96 but very higher than other prediction model and creep test results are generally similar to ACI-209 and DSCE-96 but lower than other prediction models in contrast to shrinkage test.

Day by day, concrete buildings and structure became high-rising and magnificently vast scheduled, as contributed from the development of improved equipments that suitable to specific construction works and high qualitied Material, the durability of the concrete was highly improved. The temporary elastic reduction occur at vertical members such as walls and columns under vertical loads. Specially, inelastic reduction such as creep and shrinkage occur long termly with elastic one in case of reinforced concrete members. Generally, creep and shrinkage depend on time and this is affected by concrete strength, concrete type, member size, steel ratio, and relative humidity. And elastic reduction rely on time, too because concrete is loaded before revelation of perfect strength in terms of construction conditions. So, tests on mechanical properties of concrete certainly need in order to apply to construction by forecasting an amount of reduction caused by the complex factors. Therefore, in this study the tests on creep, shrinkage are carried out to offer basic data for predicting an amount of long-term Properties at the concrete columns of an object structure, and results of the tests are described.

In the present study, the loading frequency dependencies of cyclic shear strength and elastic shear modulus of reconstituted clay were examined by performing undrained cyclic triaxial tests and undrained cyclic triaxial tests to determine deformation properties. The result of undrained cyclic triaxial test of reconstituted and saturated clay shows that a faster frequency leads to higher stress amplitude ratio, but when the frequency becomes fast up to a certain point, the stress amplitude ratio will reach its maximum limit and the frequency dependence becomes insignificant. And also, the result of undrained cyclic triaxial deformation test shows a fact that a faster loading frequency leads to higher equivalent shear modules and smaller hysteresis damping ratio, and confirms the frequency dependence of cohesive soil. Meanwhile, the result of the creep test shows that continuing creep is created in the undrained cyclic triaxial test with slow loading frequency rate, and since loading rate becomes slower at the vicinity of the maximum and the minimum deviator stress due to sine wave loading, the vicinity of the maximum and the minimum deviator stress shall be more influenced by creep.
There can be a significant amount of moment redistribution in composite frames consisting of steel columns and composite beams, due to cracking, creep and shrinkage of concrete. Considerable amount of computational effort is required for taking into account these effects for large composite frames. A methodology has been presented in this paper for taking into account these effects. In the methodology that has been demonstrated for moderately high frames, neural network models are developed for rapid prediction of the inelastic moments (typically for 20 years, considering instantaneous cracking, and time effects, i.e., creep and shrinkage, in concrete) at a joint in a frame from the elastic moments (neglecting instantaneous cracking and time effects). The proposed models predict the inelastic moment ratios (ratio of elastic moment to inelastic moment) using eleven input parameters for interior joints and seven input parameters for exterior joints. The training and testing data sets are generated using a hybrid procedure developed by the authors. The neural network models have been validated for frames of different number of spans and storeys. The models drastically reduce the computational effort and predict the inelastic moments, with reasonable accuracy for practical purposes, from the elastic moments, that can be obtained from any of the readily available software.

A series of constant creep and repeated creep tests are performed to investigate the behavior of visco-elasto-plastic materials of chemical grouted sands. In the result of constant creep test, the material exhibits three types of shear strain : elastic, plastic, viscoelastic. The elastic, plastic and viscoelastic strains are linear, i.e., the strains are proportional to the stresses for loading. Good agreement is found between the predicted viscoelastic and test results by the power law and the generalized model. In the repeated creep test, the instantaneous recoverable strain is time-independent and the magnitude of accumulated plastic strain increases with number of cycles. Also it is seen that the accumulated plastic strains are approximately proportional to stress. There are no significant differences between test results predicted values for first cycle, and the differences increase relatively insignificantly with number of cycles.
The beams components subjected to the loading such as axial, bending and cyclic thermal loads were studied in this research. The used constitutive equations are those of elasto-plasticity coupled to ductile and/or creep damage. The nonlinear kinematic hardening behavior was considered in elastoplasticity modeling. The unified damage law proposed for ductile failure and fatigue by the author of Sermage et al. (2000) and Kachanov's creep damage model applied to cyclic creep and low cycle fatigue of beams. Based on the results of the analysis, the shakedown limit loads were determined through the calculation of the residual strains developed in the beam analysis. The iterative technique determines the shakedown limit load in an iterative manner by performing a series of full coupled elastic-plastic and continuum damage cyclic loading modeling. The maximum load carrying capacity of the beam can withstand, were determined and imposed on the Bree's interaction diagram. Comparison between the shakedown diagrams generated by or without creep and/or ductile damage for the loading patterns was presented.
Applying the method calculating creep of Concrete Filled steel Tube (CFT) members based on the Elastic Continuation and Plastic Flow theory for concrete creep with the finite element method, the paper develops a new numerical method for the creep of CFT arch bridges considering effects of bending moment. It is shown that the method is feasible and reasonable through comparing the predicted stresses and deflection caused by the creep with the results obtained by the method of Gu et al. (2001) based on ACI209R model and experimental data of an actual CFT arch bridge. Furthermore, nine CFT arch bridges with different types are calculated and analyzed with and without the effects of bending moment. As a result, the bending moment has considerable influences on long-term deformations and internal forces of CFT arch bridges, especially when the section of arch rib is subjected to a large bending moment.
