An assessment of Marsh crocodile's (Crocodylus palustris LESSON, 1831) habitat, its feasibility in supporting the total population, feeding, hatching difficulty and variations in egg and clutch size of Marsh crocodile were carried out in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park for one year (July 2010 to June 2011). Major problem identified was the breeding failure, i.e. till now no hatching were found. Mainly two local weather variables (average temperature and humidity) were identified as the most obstructing parameters. Higher temperature (average $37.03^{\circ}C$) and Lower Humidity (average 75.33%) in comparison with standard range of incubation temperature and humidity for Marsh crocodile were seems to be vital reason for the failure of hatching. Understanding of the identified problem of this paper can direct the wildlife conservationist and the policy maker to take proper action for conserving the Marsh Crocodile in Bangladesh.

Infection of pathogenic microsporidia, Nosema bombycis and Nosema mylitta (Chakrabarti and Manna, 2006) decreased egg production, fecundity, hatching % and increased sterile eggs in heavily infected mulberry silkmoth, Bombyx mori L. On an average a disease free moth laid upto 442.67 eggs with high hatching % (99.53) and less sterile eggs ($0.47{\sim}2.00%$). While an infected moth laid less number of eggs ($7.00{\sim}412.00$) with low hatching % ($32.437{\sim}98.643$) and high sterile eggs ($2.143{\sim}129.571$). Fecundity of disease free laying was highest (468.714) during season-1 then gradually decreased during season- 2 (414.000) to season- 3 (404.285). But fecundity of an infected laying was highest during season-2 and hatched eggs were lowest during season-2. Higher inoculums concentration of N. mylitta infected to 5th stage larva of mulberry silkworm drastically decreased the fecundity in season - 3 and lower inoculums concentration of N. bombycis decreased the fecundity in season-1 and 3. Season-3 was most effective season to decrease the fecundity and increase sterile eggs when both temperature and humidity were fluctuated from the optimum level.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the teratological effects of enrofloxacin, a veterinary antibiotic, on the embryos and fetus of hatching chicken eggs. A control group and four experimental fertilized egg groups were set up. The four experimental groups were injected with 0.05 ml, 0.1 ml, 0.2 ml, and 0.3 ml enrofloxacin ($50{\mu}g/ml$) respectively. During the hatching period, the weights of total eggs, inside material(yolk and white) and embryos or fetuses, embryo growth, and teratological effects were investigated. In the experimental groups (fertilized eggs injected with 0.05 ml, 0.1 ml, 0.2 ml and 0.3 ml enrofloxacin), the weights of total eggs were decreased, but the yolk and white weights were increased by the higher amount of antibiotics. The weights of embryos (fetuses) in experimental groups were 86.1%, 78.6%, 65.6% and 61.4% of the control, respectively. Retarded growth, deformity and embryo loss were observed in experimental groups. Teratological effects such as undeveloped eyes, wings and legs, and deformed head and bill were also detected. In conclusion, we found that veterinary antibiotics, enrofloxacin have made teratological effects on the embryos and fetus of hatching eggs.
Parental care of eggs of Chromis fumea (Tanaka) was observed by Skin Scuba gear in August 1995 off Cheju Island. The eggs and larval development were observed in the laboratory at Pukyong National University, Pusan. Eggs were deposited on a flat surface of hard substratum and formed a plain sheet of one layer of eggs. Males showed parental care of the eggs by hovering over the nest and attacking other fishes that approached the nest. The spawned eggs were transparent, elliptical in shape and measured 0.73~0.88 mm in long axis and 0.50~0.56 mm in short axis. An analysis by T-test of the long axis of the egg with time showed a significant difference (p<0.01). However, there was no significant difference in short axis with time. Eggs were reared at water temperatures of $23.0{\sim}25.5^{\circ}C$ and took about 4~5 days from embryonic body stage to hatching. The newly hatched larvae were 1.10~1.61 mm in notochord length (NL) had 21 myomeres, has closed mouth but open anus, preanus length was 45.8% of NL. Melanophores were distributed on the occipital region of head, the eye, the peritoneal region, and along the ventral contour. The larvae absorbed the yolk material and oil globule in 3~4 days after hatching and became postlarvae. On the third day after hatching, the larvae had attained 1.9~2.4 mm in NL, had 25 myomeres, and showed rapid growth. By the ninth day after hatching, the larvae had attained 2.9 mm in NL, had an swimbladder in the dorsal margin of ventral region, the preanus length was 37.9% of NL, and their melanophores were enlarged and reduced in number.
Egg development and early life history of the endangered species, Microphysogobio rapidus was investigated to get a basic information for biological characteristics and recovery strategy. Eggs were obtained from females by injecting Ovaprim (0.5 mL/kg) and artificially fertilized by dry method in the laboratory. The mature eggs were slightly adhesive and separated with light bluish green and $0.63{\pm}0.02mm$ (n=20) in diameter. Number of eggs in the ovaries were $3,827{\pm}1,225$ (2,850 ~ 5,916). The hatching occurred at 72 hours after fertilization under water temperature of $21{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The newly-hatched larvae were $2.79{\pm}0.04mm$ (n=10) in total length. At 5 days after hatching, they were average $4.10{\pm}0.07mm$ (n=10) in TL and their yolk sacs were completely absorbed. 30 days after hatching, they became to juvenile stage and reached $9.74{\pm}0.24mm$ (n=10) in TL. At 100 days after hatching, the band patterns and external form were similar to those of adults, average $27.00{\pm}1.94mm$ (n=10) in TL.
Egg development and early life history of the Korean spine loach, Cobitis tetralineata, were investigated in the present study. Adult fish were sampled using spoon nets at the Seomjin River in Jeongsan-ri, Bokheong-myeon, Sunchang-gun, Jeollanbuk-do, Korea, July 2013. Eggs were obtained after injecting Ovarprim into females. Eggs were then artificially fertilized using the Dry method in the laboratory. Mature eggs were slightly adhesive and transparent with grey coloring, and measured $1.04{\pm}0.03mm$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) in diameter. Hatching of the embryo occurred approximately 56 hours after fertilization at $25^{\circ}C$ of water temperature, and the average size of newly hatched larvae was about $4.6{\pm}0.11mm$ in total length. At fifth day after hatching, the larval full length reached $6.8{\pm}0.28mm$ on average and their yolk sac had been completely absorbed. At 17th day after hatching, larva entered the juvenile stage and reached $9.8{\pm}0.50mm$ in total length. At 100th day after hatching, the formation of Gambetta's zone of four line was complete and juveniles were similar in general appearance to adults, and they averaged $34.7{\pm}5.77mm$ in total length.
Egg development and early life history of Korean southern spine loach, Iksookimia hugowolfeldi, were observed in the present study. Eggs were obtained after injecting females with 0.5 mL/kg of Ovarprim. Eggs were artificially fertilized using the dry method in the laboratory. Number of spawned eggs were $1,933{\pm}530per$ individual. Mature eggs were slightly adhesive with light yellowish coloring, and they measured $1.35{\pm}0.03mm$ in diameter. Hatching of the embryo occurred 56 h (50%) after fertilization at water temperature $25^{\circ}C$, and newly hatched larvae were averaged of $5.6{\pm}0.18mm$ in total length. At 5 days after hatching, larvae averaged $7.8{\pm}0.31mm$ in total length and their yolk sacs had been completely absorbed. Beginning at 15 days after hatching, the fish entered the juvenile stage and reached $13.2{\pm}0.87mm$ in total length. At 100 days after hatching, the band patterns and external form of juvenile were similar to those of adults, and they averaged $49.2{\pm}4.29mm$ in total length.
In the present study, egg development and early life history of Korean spined loach, $Iksookimia$$koreensis$, were observed. Adult fish were sampled using spoon nets in Okgye-ri, Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea in July 2010. Eggs were obtained after injecting females with Ovarprim. Eggs were then artificially fertilized in the laboratory using the dry method. Mature eggs were slightly adhesive and transparent with a light yellowish color, and measured $1.40{\pm}0.04mm$ (mean${\pm}$SD) in diameter. Hatching of the embryo occurred approximately 50 h after fertilization in the water at $23^{\circ}C$, and newly hatched larvae were averaged $4.7{\pm}0.21mm$ in total length. 5 days after hatching, the averaged total length of larvae was $7.1{\pm}0.25mm$ and their yolk sacs had been completely absorbed. 17 days after hatching, fish started to enter the juvenile stage and reached $12.2{\pm}1.10mm$ in total length. 80 days after hatching, the band patterns and external form of juvenile fish were similar to those of adults, and they averaged $31.0{\pm}3.98mm$ in total length.
The egg development and early life history of Korean endemic fish, Squalidus multimaculatus (Gobioninae), were investigated. The eggs from the females were obtained by injecting 10 IU/g of human chorionic gonadotropin and inseminated by wet method in the laboratory. The fertilized eggs were 0.8~0.9 mm in diameter and had no oil globules. The embryo began to hatch about 65 hrs after fertilization under water temperature of $24{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The newly-hatched larvae were 2.5~3.1 mm in total length, and their mouth and anus were not opened. Four days after hatching, the postlarva were 4.0~4.2 mm in total length, and their york sacs were completely absorbed. They entered the juvenile stage when all fin-rays were formed at 30 days after hatching, and their total length were 11.2~15.7 mm. At 45 days after hatching, the external from of juveniles were similar to those of adults (total length were 18.8~22.5 mm), and 80 days after hatching, the external characteristics from of juveniles were same to adults (total length were 25.7~35.9 mm).
Egg development and early life history of the Korean endemic sand spine loach, Cobitis nalbanti, were investigated in the present study. Adult fish were sampled using spoon nets at the Yeongsan River in Seongam-ri, Bukha-myeon, Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, Korea, June 2011. Eggs were obtained after injecting Ovarprim into females. Eggs were then artificially fertilized using the dry method in the laboratory. Mature eggs were transparent and slightly adhesive with light yellowish coloring, measured $0.99{\pm}0.03mm$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) in diameter. And number of spawned eggs were $1,527{\pm}410$ per individual. Hatching (50%) of the embryo occurred 52 hours after fertilization a water temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, and the average newly hatched larvae size was about $4.2{\pm}0.22mm$ in total length. At fifth day after hatching, the larval total length reached $6.0{\pm}0.34mm$ on average and their yolk sac had been completely absorbed. At fifteen day after hatching, larva entered the juvenile stage and reached $10.8{\pm}0.45mm$ in total length. At 100th day after hatching, the formation of Gambetta's zone of four dotted line was complete and juveniles were similar in general appearance to adults, and they averaged $41.1{\pm}2.95mm$ in total length.
