This paper provides a highly efficient grinding for ferrous materials using ELID-grinding method. The grinding efficiency using ELID gring method with CIFB-cBN wheel and CB-cBN wheel is compared with general grinding method with V-cBN wheel. This paper measured grinding ratio for plunge grinding and grinding resistance for traverse grinding in order to investigate grinding ability. The results show that ELID grinding methods is useful for the high efficient grinding of ferrous materials.
The ELID(electrolytic in-process dressing) grinding method is a new precision grinding technique with the special electrolytic in-process dressing by metal bonded grinding wheel, fluid, and power supply. It is possible to make a efficient precision machining of hard and brittle materials such as ceramics, hard metals, and quenched steels by using this method, In this study, a new efficient precision grinding method with ELID was attempted for application to the machining and finishing processes of cylindrical structural components. And, we try to develop the cylindrical grinding technique for mirror surface of ceramics, tungsten carbide and SCM steel, and for the high efficiency grinding of machined parts, for example, ball screw shaft. Electrical characteristics of three different wheel grit sizes of #325, #2000 and #4000 were investigated experimentally. ELID grinding method is proved to be useful for mirror surface generation and efficient machining.

The establishment of a practical ultra-precision grinding technique using Diamond and CBN wheels is one of the major key technolo-gies to improve production techniques for machine-to-difficult materials without finishing process such as lapping and polishing. But the special efficient dressing technique for ultra-fine grit type grinding wheels to stabilize the grinding ability was not developed. Recently electrolytic in-process dressing technique is proposed to ultra-fine grit type metal bonded diamond wheels to protrude abra-sives continuously from the tool surface. This technology can be widely used to surface grinding and cylindrical grinding but cannot be used efficiently to internal grinding because of the electrode attachment trouble. This paper describes the effect of interval type electrolytic dressing as proposed newly to cast iron bonded diamond wheel for efficient internal grinding with mirror type high quality ground surface.
Grinding temperature and thermal deformation(dimensional error) are studied theoretically and experimentally. The propose of this research is clarified loading phenomena and residual stress In order to guide nozzle's efficiency. The main results to be obtained are as follows ; 1) When grinding condition Is high efficient grinding, FEM program is developed about grinding heat and dimensional error. 2) Thermal deformation depend on temperature distribution is in good agreement with experimental results in case of little grinding energy flux but is comparatively in good agreement with in case of large (3.5$\times$10$^{6}$ J/m). 3) In terms of high efficient grinding at field(table speed 4m/min), grinding fluid (dilution 5/100) obtained a good workpiece quality and decreased a grinding temperature. 4) A surface roughness, dimensional error, residual stress and loading phenomena with guide nozzle are decreased and these results obtained a good workpiece quality.

Grinding has been adapted as a finishing process, which can carry out form and surface integrity at the same time. Recently, high efficient and precise grinding technique is required bacause the needs for functional parts such as silicon wafer, ceramic, and electric materials are increasing. Accordingly, the development of grinding wheel appropriate to that purpose is very important. So, in this paper we newly developed a diamond grinding wheel by applying the superior characteristics of spheroidal graphite of the cast iron sintered product. Especially, a electric resistance sintering method was applied in which rapid heat treatment is possible. Finally, we have achieved successful results that the grinding wheel has high hardness, durability and grinding ability, and satisfies above conditions.

After observing grinding characteristics according to variable grinding condition in order to raise the grinding effect without making worse the grinding quality by using general grinding machine, main conclusions of this study are as follows; 1) When grinding quality is constant, grinding effect is changed according to the speed of the workpiece. But the rapidly increasing critical speed of table is($V_w{\leq}4m/min$). 2) As grinding effect is equal, the lower the speed of the workpiece becomes, the lower the grinding force and surface roughness obtains good results. 3) In terms of grinding method, the down cut grinding method produces good grinding surface royghness in case of little grinding depth;otherwise, the up cut method in case of more grinding depth.

This paper experimentally describes the grinding characteristic of discontinuous grinding wheels in creep-feed grinding. In creep-feed grinding, grinding temperature increases rapidly and thermal damage such as a burn occurs on a workpiece. Discontinus grinding wheel with Conventional grinding wheel shows an exellent cooling effect has been developed. The wheels have 6, 12, 24 pieces of slotted which compare with characteristics of each wheels

Electrolytic in-process dressing grinding technique which enables application of metal bond wheels with fine superabrasives in mirror surface grinding operations has developed. It is possible to make efficient precision machining of hard and brittle material such as ceramic and hard metal by the employment of this technique. However, in order to ensure the success of performances such as efficient machining, surface finish, and surface quality, it is important to sustain the insulating layer that has sharply exposed abrasives in wheel surface. Using AE(Acoustic Emission) sensor, this paper will show whether the insulating layer sustains stably or not in real grinding time. And by comparing AErms value and surface roughness their thresholds for stable electrolytic in-process dressing grinding will be determined.

A study on the temperature distribution of tungsten carbide alloy steel(WC-Co) in surface grinding was conducted to improve the surface finish and to find optimum grinding conditions which would lead to efficient grinding operation by theoretical finite element method analysis and experimental test of workpiece under various conditions. Based on the comparixion of test results and FEM analysis data, it is concluded that the FEM computer simulation of heat transfer is useful in predicting the temperature distribution of test material that the increase of temperature is more infuleneced by the grinding depth than the grinding speed. And that the grinding energy flux of dey grinding is 4 to 6 time greater than wet grinding regardless of grinding speed and finally that the heat transfer does not take place in depth deeper than 3mm from the grinding surface.
Particle size of the cement raw materials is important not only in clinker burning but also in cement productivity. Model experiment was designed to investigate the effect of compressive grinding on cement raw materials and clinker granule. Compressive grinding was more efficient in reducing hard materials like quartz. Regression model was constructed to explain the effect of compressive grinding on the size reduction of cement raw materials and clinker.
