The variation of the electrical characteristics of thin-film transistors (TFTs) causes a non-uniform image quality problem, and the differential aging of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices causes an image-sticking problem. A video data correction method is proposed herein as an effective solution to the non-uniform electro-optical characteristics of the pixels in activematrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays. The results of the simulation that was conducted show that the proposed method successfully senses the electrical characteristics of TFTs and the degradation of OLEDs and effectively compensates for them.

In this paper, we propose the bilateral filter based on median value that can reduce random noise and impulse noise with minimal loss of contour information. In general, EO / IR camera to generate a random or impulse noise due to a number of reasons. This noise reduces the performance of detecting and tracking by signal processing. To reduce noise, our proposed bilateral filter sorts the values of the target pixel and the peripheral pixels, and extracts a median filter coefficients of the Gaussian type. Then to extract the Gaussian filter coefficient involved with the distance between the center pixel and the surrounding pixels. As using those filter coefficients, our proposed method can remove the various noise effectively while minimizing the loss of the contour information. To validate our proposed method, we present experimental results for several IR images.

This paper presents a new image segmentation method using fuzzy measures which reflect the local property of an image as well as the global property of an image An image is globally segmented into the crisp region and the ambiguous region in terms of the Index of fuzziness measured over all pixels of an image. The ambiguous region is luther partitioned into background and object in terms of the index of fuzziness computed over the set of neighboring pixels reflecting the local property most. From the experimental results, this method shows the effective ambiguity handling capability in segmenting an image.
In this paper, an effective skeleton method is proposed in order to obtain an enhanced digital image of skeleton line. The edge-detection method is applied in the preprocessing stage and after that, the modified Parallel method is applied to obtain the improved image of skeleton line. The existing parallel methods are Zhang, Lu and Wang, and Paul methods. Firstly, a parallel process method Is applied, and the proposed method is applied that the original is compared with the four neighbor pixels and four corner pixels of mask. In conclusion, the proposed method shows an improved connectivity and quality of skeleton line.
The purposes of this paper are to present a selection method of neighboring pixels whose local statistics are similar to the center pixel and combine the selection result with mean curvature diffusion filter to reduce noises in remote sensed imagery. The order of selection of neighboring pixels is critical, especially for finding a pixel belonging to the homogeneous region, since the statistics of the homogeneous region vary according to the selection order. An effective strategy for selecting neighboring pixels, which uses rank-order differences vector obtained by computing the intensity differences between the center pixel and neighboring pixels and arranging them in ascending order, is proposed in this paper. By using region growing method, we divide the elements of the rank-ordered differences vector into two groups, homogeneous rank-ordered differences vector and outlier rank-ordered differences vector. The mean curvature diffusion filter is combined with a line process, which chooses selectively diffusion coefficient of the neighboring pixels belonging into homogeneous rank-ordered differences vector. Experimental results using an aerial image and a TerraSAR-X satellite image showed that the proposed method reduced more efficiently noises than some conventional adaptive filters using all neighboring pixels in updating the center pixel.

In this paper, we propose the Real-time Dead-Pixel Detection and Compensation System for mobile camera and its hardware architecture. The CMOS image sensors as image input devices are becoming popular due to the demand for miniaturized, low-power and cost-effective imaging systems. However a conventional Dead-Pixel Detection Algorithm is disable to detect neighboring dead pixels and it degrades image quality by wrong detection and compensation. To detect dead pixels the proposed system is classifying dead pixels into Hot pixel and Cold pixel. Also, the proposed algorithm is processing line-detector and $5{\times}5$ window-detector consecutively. The line-detector and window-detector can search dead pixels by using one-dimensional(only horizontal) method in low frequency area and two-dimensional(vertical and diagonal) method in high frequency area, respectively. The experimental result shows that it can detect 99% of dead pixels. It was designed in Verilog hardware description language and total gate count is 23K using TSMC 0.25um ASIC library.

In processing images using 2 dimensional Discrete Wavelet Transform(2D-DWT), the method to process the pixels around the image boundary may affect the quality of image and the cost to implement in hardware and software. This paper proposed an effective method to treat the boundary pixels, which is apt to implement in hardware and software without losing the quality of the image costly. This method processes the 2-D image as 1-D array so that 2-D DWT is performed by considering the image with the serial-sequential data structure (Serial-Sequential Processing). To show the performance and easiness in implementation of the proposed method, an image compression codec which compresses image and reconstructs it has been implemented and experimented. It included log-scale fried quantizer, but the entropy coder was not implemented. From the experimental results, the proposed method showed the SNR of almost the same SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) to the Periodic Expansion(PE) method when the compression ratio(excluding entropy coding) of 2:1, 15.3% higher than Symmetric Expansion(SE) method, and 9.3% higher than 0-pixel Padding Expansion(ZPE) method. Also PE method needed 12.99% more memory space than the proposed method. By considering only the compression process, SE and ZPE methods needed additional operations than the proposed one. In hardware implementation, the proposed method in this paper had 5.92% of overall circuit as the control circuit, while SE, PE, and ZPE method has 22%, 21,2%, and 11.9% as the control circuit, respectively. Consequently, the proposed method can be thought more effective in implementing software and hardware without losing any image quality in the usual image processing applications.

Parallel optical arithmetic techniques have been developed using the correlation property of optical phase conjugate wave generated by degenerated four wave-mixing. In this paper, conventional rectangular-type coded pattern used for optical logic system is replaced by circular one for effective beam coupling in a photorefractive $BaTiO_3$ material. By adequately adjusting the distance between circular-type pixels of the input pattern and grouping the correlated output, optical binary half addition/subtraction, binary multiplication and, matrix-matrix computation are demonstrated.

In recent years, the demand for image-processing technology in digital marketing has increased due to the expansion and diversification of the digital market, such as video, security, and machine intelligence. Noise-processing is essential for image-correction and reconstruction, especially in the case of sensitive noises, such as in CT, MRI, X-ray, and scanners. The two main salt and pepper noises have been actively studied, but the details and edges are still unsatisfactory and tend to blur when there is a lot of noise. Therefore, this paper proposes an algorithm that applies a weight-based Euclidean distance equation to the partial mask and uses only the non-noisy pixels that are the most similar to the original as effective pixels. The proposed algorithm determines the type of filter based on the state of the internal pixels of the designed partial mask and the degree of mask deterioration, which results in superior noise cancellation even in highly damaged environments.

Devices such as X-Ray, CT, MRI, scanners, etc. can generate S&P noise from several sources during the image acquisition process. Since S&P noise appearing in the image degrades the image quality, it is essential to use noise reduction technology in the image processing process. Various methods have already been proposed in research on S&P noise removal, but all of them have a problem of generating residual noise in an environment with high noise density. Therefore, this paper proposes a filtering algorithm based on a three-dimensional plane equation by setting the grayscale value of the image as a new axis. The proposed algorithm subdivides the local mask to design the three closest non-noisy pixels as effective pixels, and applies cosine similarity to a region with a plurality of pixels. In addition, even when the input pixel cannot form a plane, it is classified as an exception pixel to achieve excellent restoration without residual noise.
