A Study on measurement for effective isotropic radiated power based power management of the base stations (등가등방성복사전력 기반의 기지국 출력 관리를 위한 측정 연구)

  • In this paper, a WCDMA experimental base station is constructed for power management of mobile communication base station and effective isotropic radiated power is determined by using received power of pilot channel measured on the line-of sight. The measurement system was constructed by a experimental base station and a measurement receiver and the common pilot channel (CPICH) power of the base station was measured. Effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) of the base station obtained by the measurement value considering correction factor for the errors represented the difference of 0.5 dB compared to the established EIRP of the base station.

  • Recently, in accordance with the commercialization of novel radio frequency utilization technologies, the radiated power must be rigorously limited for the purpose of protection of wireless facilities against frequency jamming or interference and for maintaining the quality of communication service. At present, the output power is measured from the conducted power for the domestic measurement criterion but is not a real radiated power and inaccurate. So, it is peformed to survey the more precisely accurate measurement scheme and analyze its criterion and methodology in comparison with foreign one. As a result of surveying and analyzing, it is concluded that the U.S. and E.U. is actually using the measurement method in consideration of terms of the Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power(EIRP) and Effective Radiated power(ERP). In case of the frequency below 1 GHz, the half wave-length dipole antenna is used to measure the ERP and above 1 GHz the horn antenna as a reference antenna is used to measure the EIRP. Therefore, for the domestic purpose it is also necessary to take EIRP and ERP into consideration as a measurement criterion in order to make an accurate measurement and regulation.

Transmit-Beam Pattern Measurement of the Active Phased-Array Antenna Using Near-Field Measurement Facility (근접 전계 시험 시설을 이용한 능동 위상 배열 안테나 송신 빔 패턴 측정)

  • In this paper, we proposed the transmit beam measurement method of active phased array antenna, which is installed in Korea's first developed naval medium range radar, using near-field measurement facility. The pulse-mode high power characteristics of active phased array antenna's trasmit-beam make it difficult to measure with general near-field measurement facilities where low power continuous RF signals are used. Thus, in this paper, the measurement method of active phased array antenna's transmit beam in conjunction with the near-field measurement facility, which is suitable for the high-power transmit beam measurement, and PNA-X network analyzer(Agilent Technologies), which can support pulse-mode measurement, was proposed and measured by near-field measurement techniques. And the EIRP(Effective Isotropic Radiated Power), the transmit characteristic of active phased array antenna, was measured by the near field measurement techniques and compared to numerical estimation which was nearly equal with small difference of 0.1 dB.

무선기기 복사성 출력전력의 측정방법 연구

  • 최근에 새로운 전파이용기술이 상용화됨에 따라, 주파수 혼신 및 상호간섭에 의한 무선설비의 보호 및 전파이용 통신서비스의 질적 수준의 유지를 위하여 무선장비들에서 나오는 출력 전력을 제한하고 있다. 현재, 국내에서는 출력전력을 공중선전력(전도성전력)으로만 측정을 하는데, 이것은 실제로 복사되는 출력전력이 아니므로 좀더 정확한 출력전력의 측정방법을 알아보기 위해 국내.외의 복사성 전력의 기술기준 및 측정방법을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과 미국과 유럽은 실제로 복사되는 출력전력을 안테나에서 나오는 출력전력뿐만 아니라 안테나의 이득까지 고려한 복사성 전력인 EIRP(등가등방성복사 전력 : Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power)와 ERP(유효복사전력: Effective Radiated Power)를 사용하여 측정하고 있었다. 또한 복사성 전력 측정시 주파수대 별로 1GHz이하인 경우에는 기준 안테나를 반파장 다이폴 안테나를 사용하여 ERP로 측정을 하며, 1GHz 이상인 경우에는 기준 안테나를 혼 안테나를 사용하고 ERP로 측정을 하고 있었다. 따라서,우리나라도 보다 정확한 출력 전력의 측정 및 규제를 위하여 실제로 복사되어지는 EIRP와 ERP를 고려 할 필요가 있다.

  • In this paper, we described the verification results on method by using the computer simulation and practical experiment for reduction of total radiated power (TRP) measurement time consuming tens of hours. TRP measurements are used in the 5G band in order to exactly evaluate the wireless communication equipment, but it takes a long measurement time because of dense sampling interval. Moreover, if there are various beam forming scenarios, the total measurement time increases exponentially. Therefore, the world-wide research on reduction method of the TRP measurement time is intensively on going. The verified method in this paper is to calculate the TRP through effective isotropical radiated power (EIRP). At first, the relation of TRP and EIRP was investigated, and an antenna for testing was designed and constructed. And, the amount of error was analyzed through simulation and measurement. The analysed results showed that the derived TRP through EIRP has very small error. This method could be applied for TRP measurements of 5G wireless communication equipments.

  • 본 논문은 차세대 이동 통신인 IMT-2000(International Mobile Telecommunication-2000)용 기지국에 장착될 사용되어 질 이중 편파 다이버시티 안테나를 개발하는데 있다. 내용은 이중 편파 다이버시티를 이용한 안테나의 대역폭과 port간 격리도 및 방사 패턴을 설계와 제작을 통해 알아보았고, 안테나 후면에 전력 증폭기를 장착시키기 위하여 EIRP(Effective Isotropic Radiated Power)를 중심으로 송신 출력을 계산하고 이런 계산식을 바탕으로 전력 증폭기를 안테나 후면에 장착하여 실제 공간상에서 안테나를 통해 방사되는 출력 전력을 실험을 통해 알아보았다.

  • This thesis suggests ways on how to enhance handset radiation power under head phantom condition. Generally, peak EIRP(Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) is used to measure the radiation performance. TRP is more effective to represent indication of mobile radiation performance in the field than EIRP. In this case, we measure the TRP as an index of radiation power. The factors which effect TRP are antenna length, antenna position, folder angle and ground connection method. More detailed analysis is performed over these items. Significant item is ground connection method between main PCB and folder GND. Using the FPCB we connect main GND to folder GND through the hinge near the antenna. The result is that TRP attenuation is decreased about 5 dB under head phantom condition.

  • The brand-new small output radio equipment which is over than 800MHz has an all-in-one interior antenna. We suggested new measuring method and developed related equipment because all-in-one radio equipment's performance evaluation requests old way, which is measuring transmitter output and antenna capacity separately, to be changed. That is, origin of small radio equipments with the 360 degree field measured by measuring the TRP, and also 360 degree opposite reception level measured at the radio equipment by measuring the TIS to make a quantitative evaluation was to be. Furthermore, we made managing frequencies, all-in-one radio equipment's best design and capacity management efficiently by measuring the gain of an antenna mounted on a PCB, the circuit around the genetic material, conductive material on the effects of radiation or the reception level.

Interference analysis on Japanese radio source for KOMPSAT TT&C ground system

  • This paper presents the impact of Japanese radio source on the S-Band communication between KOMPSAT-2 satellite and TT&C ground system. Major specifications such as transmitting EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) and location of Japanese terrestrial station were informed from Radio Research Laboratory in Korea Communication Commission. To estimate path loss in S-Band, the distance between Japanese station and TT&C ground system was obtained by using COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) software. After that the signal strength of Japanese radio source placed at the TT&C ground system was calculated from link parameters such as transmitting EIRP, path loss, and receiving antenna gain. Consequently, this paper shows that the degradation caused by Japanese radio source is acceptable to TT&C ground system for satellite operation.

  • In a Satellite communication system, a link budget analysis is the detailed investigation of signal gains and losses moving through a channel from a sender to receiver. It inspects the fading of passed on data signal waves due to the process of spreading or propagation, including transmitter and receiver antenna gains, feeder cables, and related losses. The extent of the proposed tool is to make an effective, efficient, and user-friendly approach to calculate link budget analysis. It is also related to the satellite communication correlation framework by building up a graphical interface link analysis tool utilizing STK® software with the interface of C# programming. It provides better kinds of graphical display techniques, exporting and importing data files, printing link information, access data, azimuth-elevation-range (AER), and simulation is also possible at once. The components of the link budget analysis tool include transmitter gain, effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP), free space loss, propagation loss, frequency Doppler shift, flux density, link margin, elevation plot, etc. This tool can be useful for amateur users (e.g., CubeSat developers in the universities) or nanosat developers who may not know about the RF communication system of the satellite and the orbital mechanics (e.g., orbit propagators) principle used in the satellite link analysis.
