Comparative Education and Educational Finance and Economics (비교교육학과 교육재정경제학)

  • In that all aspects of education can be compared from an international perspective, Comparative Education can share research subjects with most of the subdisciplinary study of Education. Especially Educational Finance and Economics, which is an important part of institutions and policies of education, has been one of the important areas in Comparative Education studies. In this regard, this paper summed up the relationship between Comparative Education and Educational Finance and Economics. Not only for the development of Educational Finance and Economics itself, but also in point of view of Comparative Education, it is as follows to discuss several tasks for Educational Finance and Economics to develop from now on. First, it is necessary to diversify the methods and approaches to Educational Finance and Economics. Comparative Educational studies or exploration on Educational Finance and Economics should require additional analysis from a variety of perspectives. Second, more efforts should be made to establish an independent theoretical framework for Educational Finance and Economics. Comparative Education may also be interested in international comparisons of these theoretical orientations or directions of Educational Finance and Economics. Third, we have to secure the identity of the Korean Educational Finance and Economics. Various comparative educational studies on Educational Finance and Economics of Education from an international perspective should be attempted on the basis of indigenous and independent Educational finance and Economics. Educational Finance and Economics are areas in which comparative educational analysis is needed more than any other study field of Education. We look forward to more active research on Educational Finance and Economics in the future from a comparative educational standpoint.

A study on the environmental education based on the analysis of urban ecological environment contents appeared in video media (영상매체에 나타난 도시생태환경 콘텐츠 분석 및 환경교육 활용 가능성에 관한 연구)

  • National efforts responding to climate change is directly connected to competitiveness of the urban environment. Practice in the daily life of the individual citizens is prerequisite for the paradigm shift that can be made by the reduction of the city's energy consumption and low-carbon green growth. Therefore, the comprehensive understanding combined with the educational programs is required on the issue of the ecological environment and the urban environment competitiveness. In this paper, the meaning and role of urban ecological environment will be researched first. it also takes a look at the content of curriculum and analyses domestic policies related to environmental education of primary and middle schools. In addition, video documentary on urban ecological environment will be analyzed for the development of educational media dealing with environmental training in schools. Consequently, urban ecological environment shown in video media content will be identified and the advantage of this possibility as a medium of education is to be proposed.

The Structural Relationships of Workplace Characteristics, Burnout, Health Condition and Turnover Intention Among Teachers in Early Childhood Educational Centers (영유아교육기관 교사의 근무환경, 소진 및 건강상태가 이직의도에 미치는 영향의 구조적 관계)

  • Objective: Studies have shown that turnover intention of teachers' in early childhood educational centers tend to negatively affect the quality of child care and children's adjustment. However, few studies have examined the underlying mechanism that increases teachers' turnover intention and have barely focused on environmental factors. We aimed to test whether workplace characteristics may affect teachers' turnover interntion through personal factors (i.e., burnout and health). Methods: A sample of 262 teachers participated in the study. Workplace characteristics, burnout, health and turnover intention were assesed through self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed through SEM using Mplus and the significance of mediation effects were estimated by the bootstrapping confidence intervals. Results: Finidngs indicated that a poor workplace enviornment directly predicted high turnover intentions of teachers and indirectly predicted through their high burnout and poor health contidion. Conclusion/Implications: These findings contriubed to provide better understaning about an effective future direction for policies and intervention programs in order to decrease teachers' turnover intention and subsequently increase the quality of early childhood educational centers.

  • The purpose of this paper was to diagnose the current status of educational use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in school. Based on the survey results, the direction for the educational use of information and communication technology was suggested. The findings were the use of ICT for teaching and learning activities were quite low in schools. The equipments for ICT were becoming out-dated quickly requiring replacement with new ones. The maintenance and operation of the equipments require additional funds that are not sufficient in most schools. There were quite limited number of educational software and a quality of CD-ROM titles. The infrastructures for developing and supplying educational software were poorly structured. The following policies were suggested: Establishing an efficient system for supplying equipments for ICT to schools; Constructing an effective infrastructure for developing and supplying educational software to teachers and students; Developing practical and effective teacher training programs; And funding schools for the maintenance of educational use of ICT.

  • In order to create future-oriented special school facilities with a high-quality educational environment in response to various changes and demands of the times, it is necessary to break away from the existing uniform and formal framework to find appropriate special school space. This study was a basic research to construct an active detailed model of new and creative educational space that reflects the changes of future society and educational direction. In this study, we proposed a criteria based on case studies and expert advice, deviating away from the limitations and problems that existing special schools' educational space had. The direction of plan was presented based on the compilation of expert consultation and analysis of best practice facility survey across the nation. Based on the results of this study, it is intended to maximize the effectiveness of educational policies in the long term by preparing a specific facility model for the establishment of special school planning standards.

Research to Establish Bottom-up Early Childhood Educational/Child Care Policy Plan for Preventing Low Birth Rate (저출생 현상 대책을 위한 상향식 유아교육·보육정책 방안 수립 연구)

  • This study agrees with the seriousness of the low birth phenomenon in our country and discusses the analysis of the causes of low birth and the establishment of the policy measures for early childhood education and child care in relation to the low birth phenomenon. In particular, the purpose of the policy is to establish a policy plan for up-to-down early childhood education and child care that can be reflected in the policy by members related to early childhood education, breaking away from the existing one for top-down child education and child care. To this end, the research was conducted using Delphi technique and 20 experts in the field of early childhood education and child care were organized into expert panels. In this study, seven policies were proposed for opportunity compliance, eleven policies for service compliance, eight policies for compliance with goods/gift certificates/tax reduction, seven policies for compliance with cash benefits, and five policies for compliance with power. We hope that the bottom-up education and childcare policy measures proposed in this study will provide specific implications and suggestions for resolving the low birth rate.

  • As records of Women's policies and organizations from 1945, there are reports, pamphlet, educational materials, books, and photos. At this time, preservation status of which is so vulnerable. These problems are caused by absence of archivist, small preservation space, and financial weakness. For solving these problems, an alternative is establishing archives specified at collecting and management of materials. It's more important to making database through systemized materials, so that general people also beyond professional researcher, by web server, easily access to information of Korean Women's history.

Development of Simulation App Tool for Understanding 8 Process Scheduling Policies

  • In this study, an simulation app was developed as one of the methods to help learners better understand the eight process scheduling policies of multi-programming. In learning, an app in the form of a simulation should provide a realistic environment and allow learners to practice. To do this, the needs of the learners were investigated and analyzed, and the purpose was set, designed, and programmed based on the learners' understanding. And it was shown that the apps as a tool to simulate the created eight scheduling policies are performing well. In particular, it was shown that the problem of not having a step-by-step various diagram and explanation for step-by-step various inputs, which is a limitation of paper textbooks, can be solved using these tools.

Suggestions for SME Policy for Sustainable Development

  • This article is a suggestion for SME policy in Korea for the attention of the senior policy-experiencer of the whole nation, the Advisor to the President of Korea. This article is written from the perspective of technology policy experts, not SME experts. In spite of many SME policies, the issue of SMEs in Korea is worsening, not being resolved. Technology-oriented policies are effective for each company, but the role of SMEs is gradually decreasing in the Korean economy. Reflecting on this fact, I would like to suggest measures that include long-term, but social as well as educational. The solution I suggested is coexistence since sustainable growth through SMEs is not just an economic or social issue. It is a matter of survival. I propose four types of coexistence: corporate, local, human, and coexistence with nature. Getting coexistence works requires a change in social norms that mobilize even education.

A Study on the Formation & Characteristics of Collegiate Education of Architecture in Korea from 1945 to 1961 (한국 대학건축교육의 출발과 전개)

  • This study aims to clarify a history and its external conditions of collegiate education of architecture in Korea from 1945 to 1961. To reveal the process of formation of architectural education of this period, my analysis is chiefly concerned with the organization and of its curriculum in terms of policies of Ministery of Education, especially focused in case of Dept. of Architecture in Seoul National University, I attempted to describe the complex interactions between the structural conditions and results within and without the education system and the more general social, economic, and political contexts that pertained during those years, 8.15 Emancipation, Korean War, and Post-war Rehabilitation period. We may summarize them in part by saying the reception in Korea of the American influence was done through educational ideas, policies, systems, and various aid programs. The social raison d'etre of architectural education in Korea has been to produce technologically skilled man in the sense of engineer.
