  • The Protein Structural and Functional Conservation need a common language for data definition. With the help of common language provided by Protein Ontology the high level of sequence and functional conservation can be extended to all organisms with the likelihood that proteins that carry out core biological processes will again be probable orthologues. The structural and functional conservation in these proteins presents both opportunities and challenges. The main opportunity lies in the possibility of automated transfer of protein data annotations from experimentally traceable model organisms to a less traceable organism based on protein sequence similarity. Such information can be used to improve human health or agriculture. The challenge lies in using a common language to transfer protein data annotations among different species of organisms. First step in achieving this huge challenge is producing a structured, precisely defined common vocabulary using Protein Ontology. The Protein Ontology described in this paper covers the sequence, structure and biological roles of Protein Complexes in any organism.

  • In the recently years, there has been a big interest in ad hoc wireless network as they have tremendous military and commercial potential. An Ad hoc wireless network is composed of mobile computing devices that use having no fixed infrastructure of a multi-hop wireless network formed. So, the fact that limited resource could support the network of robust, simple framework and energy conserving etc. In this paper, we propose a new ad hoc multicast routing protocol for based on the ontology scheme called inference network. Ontology knowledge-based is one of the structure of context-aware. And the ontology clustering adopts a tree structure to enhance resilient against mobility and routing complexity. This proposed multicast routing protocol utilizes node locality to be improve the flexible connectivity and stable mobility on local discovery routing and flooding discovery routing. Also attempts to improve route recovery efficiency and reduce data transmissions of context-awareness. We also provide simulation results to validate the model complexity. We have developed that proposed an algorithm have design multi-hierarchy layered networks to simulate a desired system.

  • 현재의 웹 검색은 단순히 키워드 매칭만을 수행하기 때문에 검색 결과가 사용자가 원하는 정보와는 의미적으로 상이한 결과들을 많이 포함하고 있다. 사용자가 원하는 정보와 의미적으로 정확히 일치하는 정보들을 추출하기 위해서는 웹 자원에 대한 정확한 의미 부여와 함께, 이를 파악하고 선택적으로 획득, 통합, 가공할 수 있는 온톨로지와 같은 시맨틱 웹 환경요소들이 필요하다. 웹 기술 표준화 단체인 W3C에서는 이와 같은 웹 자원에 대한 의미표현 기술로 OWL(Web Ontology Language)이라는 웹 온톨로지 표현 언어를 발표하였으나 아직 이를 효과적으로 저작, 편집할 수 있는 도구는 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문은 OWL을 기반으로 하여 온톨로지의 생성 및 편집을 효과적으로 제공할 수 있는 통합된 저작도구를 설계 및 구현하였다.

  • This research reviewed literatures on proof in mathematics education. Several views of proof can be classified (and identified) such as psychological approach (Platonism, empiricism), structural approach (logicism, formalism, intuitionism) and social approach (ontology, axiomatic systems). All these views of proof are valuable in mathematics education society. The concept of proof can be found in the form of analytic knowledge not of constructive knowledge. Human beings developed their knowledge in the sequence of constructive knowledge to analytic knowledge. Therefore, in mathematics education, the curriculum of mathematics should involve the process of cognitive knowledge development.

An Ontology-Applied Search System for Supporting e-Learning Objects (온톨로지를 적용한 e-Learning 학습 자료 검색 시스템)

  • The Web is evolving quantitatively into an explosive development. However, users usually have heavy burden of searching information because of the absence of contextual meaning on the Web. Due to an enormous amount of information, users have to endure for finding strong cohesive keywords by themselves and read each of the documents with enduring effort. This paper proposes an efficient method of searching more relative documents than current KEM-based searching systems on the Web by using contextual meaning. We designed a domain ontology on computer hardware, and a searching system which was searching those e-Learning objects. Owing to the Ontology-applied search system, information such as educational materials and related multimedia can be easily provided to the users. Further, learners could be informed of relationship of knowledge, e.g., class hierarchy, properties and values, and so on. The request results are semantically related to users' needs, and thus the system provides a learner-centered searching.

An Analysis of the Effect of an Ontology-Based Information Searching Model as a Supplementary Learning Tool (학습 보조 도구로서 온톨로지 검색 모델의 효과 분석)

  • This study analyzed whether the ontology-based information-searching model affected the ability of students to effectively search for meaningful information to carry out their projects. The experiment results illustrated that the amount of relevant information sought by the ontology-based information retrieval (OIR) method was significantly greater than that of the existing information retrieval (EIR) method. In addition, the relevance rate of the bookmarked documents sought by the OIR method was significantly greater than that of the EIR method. Interviews showed that the OIR model was helpful for students to effectively find information and thus, it helped them to complete the project more easily. Furthermore, the OIR model was beneficial for them to understand the subordinate concepts and their relationships for an important learning concept. The results of this study indicate that the OIR model could be used as a supplementary learning tool for project-based learning.

  • One of the major issues in the field of corporate training and formal education is the support of personalized learning. Successful personalized learning needs the availability of the relevant learning contents at just-in-time for learners each. The competency is one of personal characteristics. So competency-based learning is one of the methods that fulfill the above need. Successful competency-based learning needs the method that recommends the relevant contents for the user's deficient competency based on the user's current competency and objectives. We assume that there exists a student information system that provides each user's competences and objectives as fields of a LIP/ePortfolio-compliant student information. This paper proposes an ontology-based system that, given the user's competences and objectives from the above student informaton system, recommends the relevant contents among a large number of educational contents using competency ontology and domain ontology. The advantage of this system can easily handle the change of competency map and terms related with competences in student information and education contents.

  • Knowledge which is represented by formal logic are widely used in many domains such like artificial intelligence, information retrieval, e-commerce and so on. And for medical field, medical documentary records retrieval, information systems in hospitals, medical data sharing, remote treatment and expert systems need knowledge representation technology. To retrieve information intellectually and provide advanced information services, systematically controlled mechanism is needed to represent and share knowledge. Importantly, medical expert's knowledge should be represented in a form that is understandable to computers and also to humans to be applied to the medical information system supporting decision making. And it should have a suitable and efficient structure for its own purposes including reasoning, extendability of knowledge, management of data, accuracy of expressions, diversity, and so on. we call it ontology which can be processed with machines. We can use the ontology to represent traditional medicine knowledge in structured and systematic way with visualization, then also it can also be used education materials. Hence, the authors developed an Shanghanlun ontology by way of showing an example, so that we suggested a methodology for ontology development and also a model to structure the traditional medical knowledge. And this result can be used for student to learn Shanghanlun by graphical representation of it's knowledge. We analyzed the text of Shanghanlun to construct relational database including it's original text, symptoms and herb formulars. And then we classified the terms following some criterion, confirmed the structure of the ontology to describe semantic relations between the terms, especially we developed the ontology considering visual representation. The ontology developed in this study provides database showing fomulas, herbs, symptoms, the name of diseases and the text written in Shanghanlun. It's easy to retrieve contents by their semantic relations so that it is convenient to search knowledge of Shanghanlun and to learn it. It can display the related concepts by searching terms and provides expanded information with a simple click. It has some limitations such as standardization problems, short coverage of pattern(證), and error in chinese characters input. But we believe this research can be used for basic foundation to make traditional medicine more structural and systematic, to develop application softwares, and also to applied it in Shanghanlun educations.

The Ontology based Context Aware System Design for Efficient Memory Management of a Vehicle Black Box (차량용 블랙박스 메모리의 효율적인 관리를 위한 온톨로지 기반의 상황인지 시스템 설계)

  • Recently, it is used to apply various improved methods to determine the cause of traffic accidents. However, most of vehicle black box usually start to store the video information by an event trigger in case that the impact value at that time exceeds the threshold impact value as compared the threshold impact value saved in advance with the current impact value. there are problems with above method that a lot video information should be saved in the memory card of the vehicle black box, and the user should delete the unwanted video information every time because of unclassified video store. In this paper, we propose the ontology-based context aware algorithm that the vehicle black box recognize the situation, and then remove the video data with a low weighting factor by itself for efficient memory management.

Development of Prototype and Model about the Moving Picture Searching System based on MPEG-7 and KEM (MPEG-7과 KEM 기반의 동영상 검색 시스템 모델 및 프로토타입의 개발)

  • Moving picture has become the important media in education with expanded e-learning paradigm, but Korea Educational Metadata has limitation about representing information of lots of events and objects in moving picture. Announcing the MPEG-7 specification the information of lots of events and objects in it can be presented in terms of semantic and structural description of moving pictures. In this paper moving picture searching system model that integrates two metadata specifications, such as KEM and MPEG-7, is proposed. In this model one ontology to combine two metadata specifications is designed, and the other ontology about knowledge of a subject matter is added to search efficiently in searching system. As some moving picture data from Edunet were selected and stored in our server, our prototype of searching system using MPEG-7 and KEM shows the results that we are expected.
