Impact of Smoking Cessation Training for Community Pharmacists in Indonesia

  • Background: Community pharmacists play an important role in tobacco control and adequate training on smoking cessation is essential. Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test design was used. A one-day workshop on smoking cessation organized by Indonesian Pharmacists Association as part of PCE program was offered to 133 community pharmacists. The workshop consisted of a 3-hour lecture and a 3-hour role-play session. Pre-training and post-training surveys assessed the impact of training on parameters including knowledge, perceived role and self-efficacy with respect to smoking cessation counseling practices. Intention and ability to perform counseling using the 5A framework was assessed after training only. Results: After PCE, knowledge score significantly increased from $24.9{\pm}2.58$ to $35.7{\pm}3.54$ (p<0.001). Perceived role and self-efficacy in smoking cessation counseling also significantly increased from $25.8{\pm}2.73$ to $28.7{\pm}2.24$, and $27.6{\pm}4.44$ to $32.6{\pm}3.63$, respectively (p<0.001). After the workshop, most participants were willing to ask, advise, and assess patients who ready to quit, but were still less likely to assist in quitting plans and arranging follow up counseling. More than 75% pharmacists were able to perform cessation counseling and 65% of them can completely perform a 5A brief intervention. Conclusions: PCE can enhance pharmacists' knowledge, perceived role, self-efficacy in cessation counseling practices, and create willingness and ability to perform cessation counseling. Future training is recommended to improve skills in assisting quitting plans and arranging follow up.

  • It is very important to evaluate training because it can systematically grasp the current status of training. Evaluation includes getting ongoing feedback from the learner, trainer and learner's supervisor, to improve the quality of the training and identify if the learner achieved the goals of the training. It also provides a justification for the implementation of training. Nonetheless, there is a lack of studies that attempt to evaluate information security training programs. In this study, we utilize the Philips model to evaluate the public training programs for the people who are in charge of the information security duties in the public sector and propose the training improvement plans. Research result has shown that it is necessary to evaluate the level of the trainees in advance and conduct training programs according to the information security skill level. In addition, it needs to conduct training according to duties such as information security management, information security operate and maintain. The limitation of this study is that each education program was not assessed individually because this study had developed an evaluation tool that could be used comprehensively.

혼인준비자들의 혼례예절교육 요구도 연구 (A Study on the Need for Wedding Etiquette Training for Premarital Education)

  • The purpose of this research is to assess the need for wedding etiquette training for couples in order to provide basic educational materials for brides and grooms-to-be. This survey consisted of 43 questions. The questions pertaining to the need for wedding etiquette training were measured using the 5-point Likert scale. The survey was conducted between September 1st, 2011 and December 1st, 2011. The research subjects consisted of 230 brides and grooms-to-be. Questionnaires were analyzed by frequency analysis, F-test, t-test, and correlation analysis using SPSS/win17.0. Based on our findings, we would like to make the following proposals and conclusions. First, as the importance of a wedding education program could be ascertained, educational demands need to be gathered and applied to the operation of such programs. The education and training programs need to be activated by wedding preparation education centers or the Health and Family Support Center, on weekends or week nights 3 months prior to a couple's wedding ceremony. Second, wedding etiquette training content needs to be included in existing education programs that primarily focus on helping couples adapt to married life. Such training content should specifically include the etiquette of exchanging wedding presents, home life etiquette, etiquette for the formal meeting between the families of the bride and bridegroom, pyebaek etiquette and ham (a box of wedding gifts sent by a bridegroom to his bride before the wedding) etiquette. Third, when examining the particulars of the need for wedding etiquette training, we came to the conclusion that couples should be properly educated about the meaning and value of the wedding presents, pyebaek and ham that are required during traditional wedding ceremonies. Fourth, the need for wedding etiquette training was shown to be higher for women than for men. It was also higher for individuals in specialized fields than for ordinary company employees. Wedding etiquette training programs need to be structured with such considerations in mind. Fifth, when structuring the program for wedding etiquette training, the correlation of the needs for training should be considered. It is necessary to prepare training plans by dividing the program into the following categories: the formal meeting between the families of the bride and the bridegroom, ham and wedding presents, wedding ceremony etiquette, pyebaek, and home life etiquette training.

과제중심 영어 학습지도안 모형 개발 (Developing a task-based English lesson plan to enhance teaching ability)

  • This study was performed to develop a task-based English lesson plan. The study reviewed the background theories needed to accomplish the study purpose; types of learning, current trends in English teaching, and the task-based teaching. A frame for the task-based English lesson was developed as the result of this study. An actual task-based lesson plan was made after the frame for the task-based English lesson. The author presented task-based English lesson plans at English education conferences, and applied them to pre-teacher training and in-service trainings for English teachers. It is concluded that the task-based English lesson plan was very effective in enhancing English communicative competence and that the pre-teachers and teachers were satisfied with the lesson plans. It is hoped that more teaching material will be developed based on this task-based English lesson plan.

해상화학사고 대응을 위한 국내 교육훈련체계 개선에 관한 연구 - 국내 체계와 외국 체계의 비교를 기반으로 - (A Study on the Improvement of the Education and Training System for Response to Marine Chemical Incidents in Korea - Based on the Comparison of Systems between Korea and Foreign Countries -)

  • 해상 HNS 유출사고 대응 교육훈련체계의 국내 및 외국(미국, 캐나다, 호주, 영국) 현황을 살펴보고, 국내 체계와 외국 체계 간의 비교를 통하여 국내의 교육훈련체계 개선방안에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 그 결과, 국내의 민간 교육훈련기관이 거의 전무한 상태에서 외국의 기관들에 비하여 활성화되지 못하였고, 국내의 해상 HNS 관련 교육훈련이 정부 주도 하에 획일적으로 이루어지고 있는 실정이었다. 또한 국내의 교육훈련기관인 해양경찰교육원과 해양환경교육원 간에는 교육대상자, 교육기간 등에서 차이가 있었다. 국내의 해상 HNS 관련 교육과정이 외국의 교육과정에 비하여 단순한 편이었고, 교육기간도 상대적으로 짧았으며, 국제해사기구 HNS 모델코스의 2가지 과정(운영 수준 및 관리자 수준)을 수용하지 않고 있었다. 국내 해상화학사고 대응 교육훈련체계를 개선하기 위한 방안을 단기적 측면과 중 장기적 측면으로 나누어 제시하였다. 단기적 측면에서, 해양경찰교육원과 해양환경교육원은 각자 독립적으로 운영하는 현행의 이원적 체계를 유지하면서 두 기관이 공동으로 참여하는 HNS교육훈련운영협의체(가칭)를 설립하는 방안을 제시하였고, 중 장기적 측면에서는, 해양경찰교육원 HNS 담당부서와 해양환경교육원 HNS 담당부서를 통합하여 국제경쟁력을 갖춘 일원적 체계인 국가해상HNS방제교육훈련기관(가칭)으로 변경 확대하는 방안을 제시하였다.

국내 사서교육프로그램 인식도 분석 및 개편방안 연구 (A Study on the Reform Plan of Librarian Education Program for Librarianship in Korea)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 도서관 직원을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 근거로 사서교육프로그램 개편방안을 제안하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 사서교육(참여율과 유용성, 교육 및 운영방식, 강의내용과 강사진, 국립사서교육원 설립 위치, 미래 핵심역량 등)의 현주소에 대한 인식도를 분석하고, 다양한 근거자료(교육훈련 법령, 정부정책, 국제교류 및 해외동향, 선행연구 등)를 입각하여 중장기 교육수요를 예측한 후에 이를 충족시키기 위한 가칭 '국립사서교육원' 설립 운영의 핵심 의제인 사서교육프로그램의 미래지향적 개편 모형을 제시하였다.

Korea's Science and Technology Manpower Policy: Focusing on the Special Act on Support for Scientists and Engineers and its Action Plans

  • This paper dealt with the Korean manpower policy in science and technology, focusing on the contents and tools of the Special Act and its Master Plans. After briefly introducing the historical development of the Korean manpower policy from the 1960s to the present, it discussed and analyzed the Special Act and Plans from the framework of personnel development, distribution, utilization and infrastructure. Korea's science and technology manpower policy has focused on fostering and supplying manpower in line with the country's industrial growth strategy. In the early stage of industrial development during the 1960s and 1980s, government research institutes were direct and effective tools for nurturing S&T manpower. Since the 1990s, the importance of university research has increased. The government fostered graduate research manpower through the research-oriented university policy of the BK21 program. After the IMF financial crisis in 1997, the tendency of students to avoid careers in science and technology led to enacting the Special Act (2004) governing the field of S&T human resources. The Special Act has contributed to leveling up the university education system in science and engineering and sophisticated the policy to include entrepreneurship training, spin-off startups, industry-university cooperation, and offering degree programs. The Special Act and the regularly revised Master Plans have been essential tools in systematically managing the science and technology manpower policies of the Korean government.

글로벌 리더 양성을 위한 해외현장실습 및 해외취업 활성화 방안 연구 (A Study on Activation Plans for Overseas Field Training and Overseas Employment to cultivate Global Leaders)

  • 최근까지 해외 현장실습 및 해외취업 관련 연구들은 이론적 고찰, 실태 분석, 해외 노동시장 동향 분석과 같이 주로 노동시장과 관련한 이슈들을 다루어 왔을 뿐 실제로 다양한 국가에 파견되어 현장실습 및 해외취업 업무를 경험한 사람들을 대상으로 설문이나 인터뷰를 통해 실질적인 니드(need)를 파악하고자 하는 연구는 많이 진행되지 못하여 왔다. 본 연구에서는 설문조사, FGI, 성공사례분석 등의 다양한 방법론을 적용하여 해외현장실습 및 해외취업 당자사들의 현황을 심도있게 진단해 보고, 이를 통해 향후 해외취업 프로그램의 효율적 운영을 위해 대학이 취해야 할 교육 방향에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 구체적으로, 해외현장실습 및 해외취업 참여 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사와 인터뷰를 실시하여 현재의 현장실습 및 해외취업 프로그램의 문제점을 진단하고, 도출된 요구사항들을 체계화함으로써 현장실습 및 해외취업 프로그램에 대한 바람직한 운영지침을 도출하고, 학생들의 현장실습 및 해외취업 만족도를 제고하기 위한 개선방안과 정책적 대안들을 도출해 보고자 한다.

화학사고 대응계획: 국내 지역간 비교연구 (Chemical Accident Response Plan: A Comparative Study between Regions in Korea)

  • 2015년 화학물질관리법 전면 개정에 따라 국내 유해화학물질 관리 패러다임이 사업장 단위에서 지역 단위로 변화하였다. 이에 2020년 지역화학사고대응계획이 수립되었으나 지자체마다 대응 범위와 기준에 대한 내용에서 조금씩 차이를 보이고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 각 지역내 수립된 화학사고대응계획을 비교 고찰함으로써 효과적인 화학사고 대응계획에 대한 시사점을 제공하고자 연구를 수행하였다. 이에 공개된 자료를 기반으로 시 단위 4개 지역의 사고 대비 현황, 화학사고 대응시스템, 주민 대피 대응 및 교육훈련의 3가지 차원에서 지역별 대응계획을 비교 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 지역별 사고 대비 및 사고 대응시스템에서는 차이가 크지 않으며, 각 지역별 사업장 특성에 연계한 대비체계는 논의가 부족했다. 또한, 주민을 위한 교육 및 훈련에서 지역간 차이가 존재했다. 앞으로 각 지자체는 지역 환경 특성에 맞는 대응 조직을 구성하고, 유관 기관 협력을 통해 민첩하고 효과적인 사고 대응을 위해 전략을 구상해야 할 것이다.

해양플랜트 기초안전교육에 참여하는 교육생의 동향 분석 및 개선 방안에 대한 연구 -STCW 협약교육과 OPITO 교육 중심- (A Study on the Trends and Development Plans for the trainee who completed BOSIET course -Focusing on the STCW and OPITO Safety Training-)

  • As many offshore plants are built domestically, many workers get various jobs in the offshore plants directly or indirectly. But workers(including seaman and non-seaman) still have hard time to getting the job in offshore plants because they still rely on personal contacts and limitation of adaptable positions. Now people who want to work at offshore plants have to get safety training under the regulation and request of IMO/STCW and OPITO. Recently OPITO reinforced offshore safety training and discussed the mutual agreement between IMO/STCW and OPITO. Therefore this study searched legal standards for offshore plant work and the trend of offshore safety training. Base on a survey among domestic delegates who completed BOSIET course from 2010, we now understand the actual situations in finding an effective way on how to advance domestic workers in the offshore plant industry.
