The purpose of this study is a survay and analysis about the curriculum for assistant librarian. for this pupose, first a literature study was done along with interviews with assistant libraian, second a questionnaries survay was conducted among professor, library administriatiors and assistant librarians, and the survey data were analysed by SAS packages.

The study investigated the continuing education program desirable for the academic librarian under digital circumstances. For this purpose the study investigated the education programs provided by the National Library of Korea, the American Library Association, and the Association of Research Libraries, and also undertook a questionnaire survey of academic librarians in Korea. As a result the study suggested user instruction, information retrieval, electronic licensing etc. as programs needed most by the academic librarians. And also suggested intellectual freedom, disaster planning, cooperation with faculty, presentation and teaching skill as desirable to be included in the continuing education program.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the survey and prove the role and impact of teacher librarian's professionalism on the School Libraries Revitalization. The samples of the survey, consisted 96 school libraries in Kyungbuk Province, were revitalized before 2005 by School Library Revitalization Project of Ministry of Education and Human Resources, Korea. The samples were divided into two groups; the one group consisted of 47 libraries managed by teacher librarian, and the other group consisted of 49 libraries which were managed by class teachers who are not majored in Library Science. The questionnaires were mainly conducted by survey but interview, telephone, and e-mail method also used. The state of the art of the library management, including budget, acquisition, cataloging, collection management, circulation, information technology, and the services for the faculties and students between two groups were analyzed and compared. The results showed that teacher librarian group offers more user-tailored and intensive services than class teacher group.

The purpose of this study is to practice the library tour program for pre-librarians, to analyze the impact of the library tour program for pre-librarians on librarian job's perception, and to present the educational meaning of library tour program for pre-librarians to the library & information science academies, the librarians in charge of the library tour, and pre-librarians. For doing this, the 29 pre-librarians participated in a library tour are surveyed by the questionnaires before and after library tour program. As a result, it's revealed that the library tour program for pre-librarians is proved to be the educational effects that it establishes the per-librarians' attitudes for librarian job performance. It's meaningful that this study presents the education effects of library tour program to the librarians in charge of library tour program and the pre-librarians.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the appropriateness of the open competitive examination subjects to selecting the personnel with work profession targeted the public official librarian engaging the libraries directly operated by education office and city hall of Seoul. Also, this study suggested the ways for selecting excellent personnel within work profession. First, the public official librarian recognized that there was no practicality regarding the subjects of the open recruitment that recruit for the personnel with work profession. Second, 78.5% of the public official librarian responded the new subjects including science of public administration, social studies, science, and mathematics needed to be revised to a written examination. Third, the public official librarian thought the subjects such as library management theory, organization of information, and collection management was more appropriate for the improvement of the profession.

This article presents the role of children's librarian in the age of information. Preparing the 21st century, there should have been to identify the humanities of health, independent, creative, and moral fact with educating children in future Korea. Children's library should service all the children to improve the information skill and technology, to creat a whole person with high order intellectual thinking skill for the consumer, the voter and the leader of the next generation. It has been identified that the children's librarian should playas a mediator of literacy and culture of children, a creating counselor of personality, a negotiator of recoginating all knowledge, and a leader of the information skill or communication skill in the children education at the 21st century.

For the sake of activating web-based reading education in the public libraries, This study examine the practical use of web-based reading education and research into its activation. Web-based reading, red the book at any time/where with librarian and user, is to achieve the goal of reading education. The methods are to set up Home page of reading education through Internet, to guide user in various web-based reading materials and reading planning at any time. In addition, It is to be completed interactive action such as book review, reading dicussion through E-mail, a bulletin board, chatting etc. with librarian or user.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the meanings of school libraries in Japanese reading education. An emphasis was on analyzing both strength and weakness of Japanese school library policies and reading education programs from the viewpoints of Japanese students. Employed to collect the data were a comprehensive literature survey, focus interviews with 23 school librarians, and a survey with 404 Japanese students. The major finding of this study is that the current Japanese school library policy is not adequate enough to make its reading education be successful, and in particular, it has serious flaws with the educational system of school librarians as well as the school library staffing system itself.

1. Only 6 libraries(23.1%) among 26 surveyed libraries have a person or part in charge of continuing education. It means that the method to select education program and education object is systemless. The 19 libraries (73.1%) encourage continuing education of librarian. 2. Compared with the group who didn't receive a formal education, the group who received have a high degree in the grade of confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for job in Internet education case. And the group that received a formal education have also a high degree in the grade of ability for job in OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction for job in the carreer is significantly different according to the formal education in Internet education case and OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for Sob in the scholarship are significantly different according to the formal education in internet and computer OA education case 3. Compared with the group that didn't receive periodical education the group that received periodical education have a high degree in the grade of confidence, self-satisfaction for Job in internet education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for job in the carreer are significantly different according to the periodical education in OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for businessin in the scholarship are significantly different according to the periodical education in internet and OA education case. 4. Compared with the group that didn't receive self-education the group that received self-education have a high degree in the grade of confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for job in internet and OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for Job in the carreer are significantly different according to the self education in internet and OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for Job in the scholarship are significantly different according to the self-education in internet and OA education case.
