A Study on the Manufacturing Characteristics for Micro Spherical Lens Mold of Soft Materials (연질재료의 마이크로 구형렌즈금형 가공특성에 관한 연구)

  • Micro spherical lens mold processing method based on mechanical one completes a spherical shape by setting a diamond tool of hundreds $\mu$m radius on spins with high speed and then using Z-axis vertical feeding motion like the fabrication of micro drilling. In this method, we can see unprocessed parts shaped like cylinder and cone and check increasing chatter marks and burrs by setting errors of the central axis of rotation on the edge of the tool. That is why this method doesn't suit for the optical lens mold. In this paper presents unprocessed parts are disappeared and chatter marks and burrs are decreased from centre of the lens after using Run-out measuring and setting system on run-out occurred from setting tool. Also the fabrication characteristics of 6:4 Brass, A1601, PMMA are compared and analyzed, establishing the optimum machining condition on each material.

  • We manufactured amorphous core for 1 KVA transformer by lap-step and one cut method, and measured the magnetic characteristics of the cores as a function of the number of ribbons per group, the number of group per set. the air gap and radius of core edge.

  • Burr and shape distortion are two main problems in micro-grooving. In this study, a simplified model is proposed based on large thrust force due to the tool edge radius. Experiments are conducted with a single crystal diamond tool on a 3-axis snaper-like machine varying the depth of cuts, and groove angles on brass, aluminum and OFHC. Experiments have shown that the thrust force becomes a dominant variable in burr generation compared to the principal force when the depth of cut is less than 2${\mu}m$. And fewer burrs develop on more brittle materials. Shape distortion is significant only when the groove angle is small and the depth of cut is larger than 30 ${\mu}m$.

  • It is very difficult to partially describe the hull shape made up of 3-dimensional free form surface. With computerizing skill in ship design, the geometric modeling technique has been developed. In hull shape modeling, the blending technique has not yet been adapted to the hull shape surface has a variable curvature. By adapting the blend surface, small surface on drawing plane is to be softly blended with given hull surface and a projecting part. This study has adapted to the ship design one of the blending methods by which offsets data of the blend surface can be obtained by the input of blend radius on two base surfaces.

  • In this paper, in order to avoid equipment malfunction due to electromagnetic waves, which can occur when high-voltage live line diagnostic device fabrication, the enclosure structure of the diagnostic device with power lines that can minimize the EMI (electromagnetic interference) was modeled using the FEM (finite element method). Simulation examined the strength of the electric field in the required thickness, material and regions where there is a control board while changing the curvature radius of the corner making the enclosure, and By applying a mechanical design and simulation results that occur during the actual production has been designed for the final design. Most of the simulation results for the electric field is concentrated in the final model, the inner edge of the enclosure could be confirmed that the stable structure.

  • In this paper, a technique ot estimate center positions of the circular parts under noisy condition is presented. The circle chords are segmented from the circle with successively varying angle and weighted to reduce the center estimation errors effected by the orientations of the circle chords. The weighting factors for variable length chords are adaptively detemined according to the error contribution of each chord in center estimation. Robust estimation of the center positions of the circular parts are possible even though the edge informations are partially contaminated by the non-uniform lighting or the background textures. Computer simulations for several images which are obtained for same object under real environment y camera, show that the proposed techniqeu yields 1.85 and 2.77 of estimated error-distribution for center position and radius in mean square error, that the proposed has more robust estimation than those of the conventional methods.

  • A quantitative analysis of a surface roughness for a precision machining of a sculptured surface in milling process is treated under superposition theory in this paper. The geometrical surface rouhgness is calculated as a function of feed per tooth, path interval, radii of tool and cutting edge, and radii of curvatures of workiece. Through machining experiments in a 3-axis machining center, we confirmed the adequacy of the adequacy of the analysis. While cutter mark is neglegible in ball endmilling, it is significant in flat endmilling. When feed per tooth is very small, flat endmilling gives superior finish to ball endmilling. In flat endmilling, cutting condition and cutter path should be strategically chosen to balance the cutter mark height and cusp height.

  • The nanoimprint lithography technology makes higher density of semiconductor device and larger capacity of storage media. In this technology the induced damage while detaching polymer pattern from mold should be minimized. In order to analyze the problem, the basic knowledge of adhesion between the polymer and the mold is required. In this study a contact experiment of polyisobutylene specimen with spherical steel tip and polyisobutylene bead tip was conducted using nano indenter. During the contact experiment with various loading rate under load control the contact behavior of viscoelastic material was measured, i.e., the load and displacement between the tip and the specimen were measured. The data was analyzed by HBK model to obtain the stress intensity factor of contact edge and the contact radius as a function of time. Also the adhesion energies between steel/polyisobutylene and polyisobutylene/polyisobutylene were obtained employing the analysis of the crack of viscoelastic material by Schapery.

Study of The Unsteady Weak Shock Propagating through a Pipe Bend (곡관 내부를 전파하는 약한 비정상 충격파에 관한 연구)

  • This paper depicts the weak shock wave propagating inside some kinds of pipe bends. Computational work is to solve the two-dimensional, compressible, unsteady Euler Equations. The second-order TVD scheme is employed to discretize the governing equations. For the computations, the incident normal shock wave is assumed at the entrance of the pipe bend, and its Mach number is changed between 1.1 and 1.7. The turning angle and radius of the curvature of the pipe bend are changed to investigate the effects on the shock wave structure. The present computational results clearly show the shock wave reflection and diffraction occurring in the pipe bend. In particular, the vortex generation, which occurs at the edge of the bend, and its shedding mechanism are discussed in details.

  • The ability of a robot system to comply to an environment via the control of tool-environment interaction force is of vital for the successful task accomplishment in many robot application. This paper presents the implementation of external force control for two dimensional contour following task using a commercial robot system. Force accommodation is used since a constraint imposed in our work is not to modify the commercial robot system. A linear, decoupled model of two dimensional contour following system in the discrete time domain is derived first. Then the experimental verification of linear control is obtained using a PUMA 560 manipulator with standard Unimation controller, Astek FS6-120A six axis wrist force sensor attached externally to the arm and LSI-11173 microcomputer. Experimentally obtained data shows that the RMS contact force error is 0.8246 N when following the straight edge and 2.3768 N when following 40 mm radius curved contour.
