  • This paper deals with inspect algorithm using visual system. One of the major problems that arise during polymer production is the estimation of the noise of the color product.(bad pallets) An erroneous output can cause a lot of losses (production and financial losses). Therefore new methods for real-time inspection of the noise are demanded. For this reason, we have presented a development of vision system algorithm for the defect inspection of PE color pallets. First of all, in order to detect the edge of object, the differential filter is used. And we apply to the labelling algorithm for feature extraction. This algorithm is designed for the defect inspection of pallets. The labelling algorithm permits to separate all of the connected components appearing on the pallets. Labelling the connected regions of a image is a fundamental computation in image analysis and machine vision, with a large number of application. Also, we suggested vision processing program in window environment. Simulations and experimental results demonstrate the performance of the proposal algorithm.

  • The circular arc is a very useful feature for object detection and recognition in industrial environments. In this paper, a new method to detect circular arcs is proposed. The detection of the circular arc includes the estimation of the center, the radius and the two ending points of the arc. This new method is based on determining the best part of the circular arc (part which does not contains outliers points) using 3 points designated along the arc. A least square method is applied to the best part of the arc and the center and the radius of the arc are obtained. The distance between the remaining edge's points (points which are not lying on the best part of the arc) and the radius is used to the two ending points of the arc.

  • In this paper, we propose a rapid lane detection method to extract a preceding vehicle from sequential images captured by a single monocular CCD camera. We detect positions of lanes for an individual image within the limited area that would not be hidden and thereby compute the slopes of the detected lanes. Then we find a search area where vehicles would exist and extract the position of the preceding vehicle within the area with edge component by applying a structured method. To verify the effects of the proposed method, we capture the road images with a notebook PC and a CCD camera for PC and present the results such as processing time for lane detection, accuracy and vehicles detection against the images.

  • The current paper presents an effective deblocking algorithm for block-based coded images using singularity detection in a wavelet transform. In block-based coded images, the local maxima of a wavelet transform modulus detect all singularities, including blocking artifacts, from multiscale edges. Accordingly, the current study discriminates between a blocking artifact and an edge by estimation the Lipschitz regularity of the local maxima and removing the wavelet transform modulus of a blocking artifact that has a negative Lipschitz regularity exponent. Experimental results showed that the performance of the proposed algorithm was objectively and subjectively superior.

  • In this paper, we present a two-stage vision-based approach to detect multi views of pedestrian in road scene images. The first stage is HG (Hypothesis Generation), in which potential pedestrian are hypothesized. During the hypothesis generation step, we use a vertical, horizontal edge map, and different colors between road background and pedestrian's clothes to determine the leg position of pedestrian, then a novel symmetry peaks processing is performed to define how many pedestrians is covered in one potential candidate region. Finally, the real candidate region where pedestrian exists will be constructed. The second stage is HV (Hypothesis Verification). In this stage, all hypotheses are verified by Support Vector Machine for classification, which is robust for multi views of pedestrian detection and recognition problems.

  • This paper presents a sensorless speed control of IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using the high-frequency (HF) square wave injection method. In the proposed HF pulsating square wave injection method, injection voltage is applied into the estimated d-axis of rotor and high-frequency induced q-axis current is considered to estimate the rotor position. Conventional square wave injection methods may need complex demodulation process to find rotor position, while in the proposed method, an easy demodulation process based on the rising-falling edge of the injected voltage and carrier induced q-axis current is implemented, which needs less processing time and improves control bandwidth. Unlike some saliency-based sensorless methods, the proposed method uses maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) strategy, instead of zero d-axis command current strategy, to improve control performance. Furthermore, this paper directly uses resultant d-axis current to detect the magnet polarity and eliminates the need to add an extra pulse injection for magnet polarity detection. As experimental results show, the proposed method can quickly find initial rotor position and MTPA strategy helps to improve the control performance. The effectiveness of the proposed method and all theoretical concepts are verified by mathematical equations, simulation, and experimental tests.

  • Throughout this thesis, I describe the design, fabrication, and evaluation of the 3 DOF farce-reflecting haptic interface using USMs(ultrasonic motors). This haptic interface allows a htmlaIl "observer" to explore and interact with a virtual environrrent for the sense of touch. To effectively display the mechanical impedance of the htmlaIl hand we need a haptic device with specific characteristics, such as low inertia, alrmst zero friction and very high stiffness. USMs have attracted considerable attention as the actuator satisfied these conditions. An observer may grasp the end effector of revice and interact with surfaces and objects created within a virtual environment The revice provires force feedback, allowing users to "feel" objects within the environment. The device works very well, as users are able to detect the edge of the wall, the stiffness of the button and the puncture. TIle force-reflecting haptic interface could be suitable as a master for micro-surgery or as an interface to virtual reality training systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to detect candidate area of vehicle license plate using compounded color and vertical edge information it's own. Also, we propose a verification course, to compressed image generated by Fast DCT, using SVM to increase accuracy of extracted vechicle license plate area. Proposed method is consider that vehicle's position, become a object of it's license plate recognition, has various angle, scale and include enough environment informations. As a experimental results, proposed method shows a superior performance compared with the case that not includes verification course using SVM.

  • In this paper, an automatic setting method of control parameters for robot scorer is proposed. First we acquisited some local image lesions including robots and ball patch, and sampled the regions to RCB value. Edge operator is applied to get magnitude of gradient at each pixel. Some effective patch regions can be detected by magnitude of gradient, and YUV value at each pixel in patch lesions can be obtained. We can determine control parameters of robot soccer using luminance component of YUV. The proposed method is applied to robot soccer image to detect initial patch value and get control parameters adaptively in light variation.

  • This paper presents a method that can automatically detect variety of degradations (i.e., scratches and blotches) in old film archive. The proposed method consists of candidate detection and verification. Degradations are first identified by finding the local extreme of a frame in spatiotemporal domains, thereby using edge detector and SROD detector. Then, to remove some false alarms occurred in the first stages, the verification is performed using the texture and shape properties of scratches and blotches. The textural properties of scratches and blotches are learned using neural networks (NNs) and their shapes are represented using morphological filters. The experiments were performed on several old films, then the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method, where it has a precision of 81% and a recall of 79%.
