An efficient Video Dehazing Algorithm Based on Spectral Clustering

  • Image and video dehazing is a popular topic in the field of computer vision and digital image processing. A fast, optimized dehazing algorithm was recently proposed that enhances contrast and reduces flickering artifacts in a dehazed video sequence by minimizing a cost function that makes transmission values spatially and temporally coherent. However, its fixed-size block partitioning leads to block effects. The temporal cost function also suffers from the temporal non-coherence of newly appearing objects in a scene. Further, the weak edges in a hazy image are not addressed. Hence, a video dehazing algorithm based on well designed spectral clustering is proposed. To avoid block artifacts, the spectral clustering is customized to segment static scenes to ensure the same target has the same transmission value. Assuming that edge images dehazed with optimized transmission values have richer detail than before restoration, an edge intensity function is added to the spatial consistency cost model. Atmospheric light is estimated using a modified quadtree search. Different temporal transmission models are established for newly appearing objects, static backgrounds, and moving objects. The experimental results demonstrate that the new method provides higher dehazing quality and lower time complexity than the previous technique.

오목점과 에지 정보를 이용한 돼지의 경계 구분 (Pig Segmentation using Concave-Points and Edge Information)

  • To reduce huge losses in pig farms, weaning pigs with weak immune systems are required to be carefully supervised. Even if various researches have been performed for pig monitoring environment, segmenting each pig from touching-pigs is still entrenched as a difficult problem. In this paper, we propose a segmentation method for touching-pigs by using concave-points and edge information in a video surveillance system. Especially, we interpret the segmentation problem as a time-series analysis problem in order to identify the concave-points generated by touching-pigs. Based on the experimental results with the videos obtained from a domestic pig farm, we believe that the proposed method can accurately segment the touching-pigs.

고유값 분석을 이용한 효과적인 후판의 직선 검출 (Effective Line Detection of Steel Plates Using Eigenvalue Analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 후판 영상에서 직선 패턴을 검출하는 간단하면서도 정확한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 후판의 직선 검출은 후판 영상으로부터 후판에 관련된 정보를 분석하거나 인식할 때 기본적으로 사용되는 핵심적인 알고리즘이다. 제안하는 알고리즘에서는 마스크를 이용하여 전체 영상을 탐색하면서 에지 영상을 분석한다. 먼저 마스크에 위치한 에지 패턴의 픽셀들에 대한 공분산 행렬을 계산하고 공분산 행렬의 고유값과 에지 패턴의 통계적 기하학적인 특성 사이의 관계를 분석하여 직선 에지를 검출한다. 직선 패턴이 중복된 에지 영상에 대해서는 모든 직선을 정확하게 검출하기 위하여 먼저 각 직선 패턴을 전체 영상에서 분리한 후 고유값을 계산한다. 또한 에지를 구성하는 픽셀의 수와 에지의 방향 정보를 이용하여 불필요한 직선 에지들을 제거함으로써 후판의 직선 에지를 정확하게 검출하도록 한다. 다양한 후판 영상에 대해서 실험을 수행한 결과는 제안하는 알고리즘이 고유값을 이용한 기존 알고리즘 보다 우수함을 보여준다.

MPEG-4 기반 영상 분할에서 구조요소의 선택적 적용에 의한 분할성능 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Performance Improvement of Image Segmentation by Selective Application of Structuring Element in MPEG-4)

  • 수리형태학을 이용한 영상분할의 분할 성능은 우수하지만 너무 많은 영역으로 분할되는 경향이 있는데, 후처리 과정을 사용하지 않고 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 마커 추출에 사용되는 구조요소의 크기를 증가시켜야 한다. 그러나 구조요소의 크기가 너무 크면 영역의 경계를 제대로 분리해낼 수 없기 때문에 본 논문에서는 영상분할의 성능 개선을 위해 수리형태학적 구조요소를 선택적으로 적용하였다. 이를 위해 평균국부분산과 영상의 기울기를 이용하여 입력 영상을 질감 영역, 에지 영역, 단순 영역으로 분류하였다. 그리고 각 영역별로 구조요소의 크기를 선택적으로 적용하여 영상이 과분할 되는 원인을 제거하였다. 실험 결과, 화소의 밝기 값이 비슷한 영역에 대해서도 영상이 잘 분할됨을 확인하였고 기존의 방법보다 질감 영역 및 에지영역을 정확하게 찾아냄을 확인할 수 있었다.

Localization for Mobile Robot Using Vertical Lines

  • In this paper, we present a self-localization method for mobile robots using vertical line features of indoor environment. When a 2D map including feature points and color information is given, a mobile robot moves to the destination, and acquires images by one camera from the surroundings having vertical line edges. From the image, vertical line edges are detected, and pattern vectors meaning averaged color values of the left and right region of each line segment are computed. The pattern vectors are matched with the feature points of the map using the color information and the geometrical relationship of the points. From the perspective transformation of the corresponded points, nonlinear equations are derived. Localization is carried out from solving the equations by using Newton's method. Experimental results show that the proposed method using mono view is simple and applicable to indoor environment.

  • We had been developing the variety of parallel processing systems in order to improve the processing speed of visual media applications. These systems were using multi-access memory system(MAMS) as a parallel memory system, which provides the capability of the simultaneous accesses of image points in a line-segment with an arbitrary degree, which is required in many low-level image processing operations such as edge or line detection in a particular direction, and so on. But, the performance of these systems did not give a faithful speed because of asynchronous feature between MAMS and processing elements. To improve the processing speed of these systems, we have been investigated a pipelined parallel processing system using MAMS. Although the system is considered as being the single instruction multiple data(SIMD) type like the early developed systems, the performance of the system yielded about 2.5 times faster speed.

워터쉐드 기법을 이용한 개별적 치아 영역 자동 검출 (Individual Tooth Image Segmentation by Watershed Algorithm)

  • In this study, we propose a novel method to segment an individual tooth region in a true color image. The difference of the intensity in RGB is initially extracted and subsequent morphological reconstruction is applied to minimize the spurious segmentation regions. Multiple seeds in the tooth regions are chosen by searching regional minima and a Sobel-mask edge operations is performed to apply MCWA(Marker-Controlled Watershed Algorithm). As the results of applying MCWA transform for our proposed tooth segmentation algorithm, the individual tooth region can be resolved in a CCD tooth color image.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheme of motion tracking based on fuzzy inference (Fl) and wavelet transform (WT) from image sequences. First, we present a WT to segment a feature extraction of dynamic image . The coefficient matrix for 2-level DWT tent to be clustered around the location of Important features in the images, such as edge discontinuities, peaks, and corners. But these features are time varying owing to the environment conditions. Second, to reduce the spatio-temperal error, We develop a fuzzy inference algorithm. Some experiments are performed 0 testify the validity and applicability of the proposed system As a result, proposed method is relatively simple compared with the traditional space domain method. It is also well suited for motion tracking under the conditions of variation of illumination.

  • 본 논문에서는 여러 응용 분야의 GIS에서 기본 map으로 사용되는 지적도에 대하여 raster 영상데이타로부터 벡터(vector)영상을 구하는 벡터화 알고리즘 및 자동 지역 생성 알고리즘을 제시하고, 이들로부터 직선(edge)들로 이루어진 segment, region(polygon)등의 주요 지형 객체 인식 및 처리를 자동적으로 수행하는 고속 지형 객체 처리 소프트웨어 ARM(Automatic geographical en-tity Recognition and Modeling)에 대해서 설명한다.
