An analysis of new IGBT(Insulator Gate Bipolar Transistor) structure having a additional recessedwith E-field shielding layer

  • The recessed gate IGBT has a lower on-state voltage drop compared with the DMOS IGBT, because there is no JFET resistance. But because of the electric field concentration in the corner of the gate edge, the breakdown voltage decreases. This paper is about the new structure to effectively improve the Vce(sat) voltage without breakdown voltage drop in 1700V NPT type recessed gate IGBT with p floating shielding layer. For the fabrication of the recessed gate IGBT with p floating shielding layer, it is necessary to perform the only one implant step for the shielding layer. Analysis on the Breakdown voltage shows the improved values compared to the conventional recessed gate IGBT structures. The result shows the improvement on Breakdown voltage without worsening other characteristics of the device. The electrical characteristics were studied by MEDICI simulation results.

  • Diffserv Network의 혼잡 상태에서도 최소 전송속도를 보장하는 AF(Assured Forwarding)은 AF1부터 AF4에 이르기까지 다양한 Class 형태로 존재한다. Core Router나 Edge Router에서 패킷을 Drop 해야 한다면, 처음으로 DE(Default Forwarding) 방식의 패킷이 Drop되고, 피 다음으로 AE4, AF3, AF2, AF1의 등급을 가진 패킷들이 Drop 된다. 이러한 AF 패킷의 전송에서 A Network는 AF1, AE2, AF3, AF4의 순서로 패킷의 우선 순위를 두고, B Network는 그 반대인 AF4, AF3, AF2, AF1의 순서로 패킷의 우선 순위를 둔다면, A Network에서 최고의 품질을 제공받는 AF1 패킷이 B Network로 넘어가면서 가장 낮은 우선 순위의 서비스 품질을 제공받게 되어, B Network에서 패킷 드롭의 상황이 발생하게 되어 가장 먼저 드롭이 일어나게 된다. 이러한 결과는 반대로 B Network에서 A Network로 패킷을 보내는 과정에서도 발생한다. 본 논문은 이러한 AF Class의 패킷을 다른 정책을 가지는 네트워크로 전송할 때 AF 패킷 등급의 손실을 최소화하는 방안을 제시한다.

  • A microchannel PCHE is manufactured by the two technologies of micro photo-etching and diffusion bonding. In this paper, heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics by applying various configuration for the flow channel in the microchannel PCHE is experimentally investigated. The flow channel configurations are designed three types such as straight, wavy and offset strip channels. The performance experiment of each configuration is performed for Reynolds numbers in ranges of $100{\sim}700$ under various flow conditions for the hot side and the Reynolds number of cold side is fixed at 350. The inlet temperatures of the hot side and cold side are conducted as $40^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$, respectively. The heat transfer performance of wavy channel, which was similar to that of offset strip channel, was much higher than that of straight channel. The effectiveness of wavy channel and offset strip channel was evaluated as about $0.5{\sim}0.9$. The pressure drop of wavy channel was highest among configurations and that of offset strip channel was lower than that of straight channel because the round curved surface of each strip edge was reduced the pressure loss.

원추형 오리피스의 유출계수와 캐비테이션에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental study on the discharge coefficients and cavitation of conical orifices)

  • The high pressure drop is frequently required in the by-pass line of the pump or of the heat exchanger in power plants. However, cavitation produced by a high pressure drop could damage the pipe and pump blades. Conical orifices are adopted to reduce cavitation due to high pressure drop. The discharge coefficients of conical orifice plates were measured by weighing method in the standard water flow system. The discharge coefficients were larger when the ratios of thickness of orifice edge to throat diameter were larger. The noise generated from a conical orifice due to cavitation was measured with a sound level meter and a hydrophone. With increasing the bore diameter of the orifice, the sound pressure level or the noise level due to cavitation became higher. The noise level was suddenly increased at the inception of cavitation.

  • 평균 윈도우 크기는 평균 처리율과 많은 관계를 가지고 있다. 제안된 dropper는 fairness를 향상시키기 위해 윈도우 크기를 각 플로우의 레벨에 맞게 제어하도록 한다. 경쟁 패킷 드랍은 플로우가 많은 양의 대역폭을 차지하기 위해 동작한다. 경쟁 패킷 드랍 때문에 플로우는 전송 속도를 반으로 줄이게 되며, 이에 따라 코어 링크의 여유 용량이 존재하게 된다. 다른 플로우는 이 새로운 용량을 사용하게 되고, 따라서 다른 플로우는 좋은 처리율을 가지게 된다. 이런 방식으로 TCP의 전송속도를 제어하는 edge router의 새로운 기능 block인 TRC Dropper(Transmission Rate Control Dropper)를 제안한다. 제안한 TRC Dropper를 통하여 플로우들 간에 공평한 대역폭 분배를 실현하여 상대적으로 차별화된 서비스를 제공할 수 있다.

집중유도형 교류전위차법에 의한 표면결함 및 이면결함의 평가에 관한 연구 (Evaluation of Surface Crack and Blind Crack by Induced Current Focusing Potential Drop(ICFPD) Technique)

  • 파괴역학을 기초로 한 구조물의 수명 관리와 안전성 평가에 있어서, 결함의 크기는 매우 중요한 변수인자이다. 집중유도형 교류전위차법(ICFPD)은 구조물 부재의 표면, 이면 및 내면에 존재하는 결함을 검출하고, 그 크기를 측정하기 위하여 개발하였다. 본 비파괴법의 원리는 교류 전류가 흐르는 하나의 도선에 의하여 국부적인 영역에 전류를 집중적으로 유도하는 것을 이용하였다. 도선에 흐르는 전류는 일정 크기와 주파수를 갖는다. 금속표면에 유도된 전위는 탐촉자에 설치된 전위측정용 단자(potential pick-up pins)로 측정한다. 본 논문은 집중유도형 교류전위차법을 이용하여 평판 시험편에 도입한 표면결함과 이면결함을 평가하였다. 표면결함의 경우, 전위차 분포는 결함의 경사도에 따라 변화하고, 결함부와 결함단부의 전위차는 결함의 경사도 및 깊이에 따라 변화한다. 이면결함의 경우, 전위차 분포는 표면결함의 전위차 분포와 구분이 되며, 결함부에서의 전위차는 결함의 깊이에 따라 변화한다.

플레이트형 지지구조체로 지지된 실린더형 관 군의 고주파 유동유발진동 및 압력손실에 대한 실험적 고찰 (Experimental investigation on the high frequency flow-induced vibration and pressure drop of cylindrical tube bundle with plate type supporting structures)

  • A plate type supporting structure of a tube bundle in axial flow generates a certain band of a high frequency periodic excitation of a vortex shedding and/or a flow separation due to sharp edge of the plate thickness and a severe pressure drop due to a cross-sectional area of the supports. With a design consideration of the low vibration and a small flow resistance, the analysis method is uniquely confined to an experimental approach because a complex geometry of a cylindrical tube bundle and/or physical phenomena related to the fluid-structure interaction of tube bundle in a flow impede a theoretical or a numerical approach. A 5x5 cylindrical tube bundle with 5 supports which were discretely located along the bundle's axis was tested in the FIVPET hydraulic test loop for a design evaluation and an analysis perspectives. A high frequency flow-induced vibration of the supporting structures of the cylindrical tube bundle was measured at a outer surface of a supporting structure through a transparent flow housing by the laser dopper vibrometer. Pressure drop in-between three measurement distances was measured by the differential pressure transmitter. High frequency vibration and pressure drop fairly depends on the geometric design of supporting structure. So, these two parameters would be used as a qualitative design variables for design evaluation and analysis.

Interpretation of the lattice-shaped mura defects in thin-film-transistor liquid crystal displays

  • The mechanism for lattice-shaped mura defects was proposed by characterizing the electro-optic properties of liquid crystal (LC), which showed different transmission properties between the normal and mura defect areas. An increase in the mura defect rate was observed when the dotted LC in the one drop filling (ODF) was exposed for a longer time. The dotted LC droplet at the edge evaporated more rapidly than that in the center. This resulted in a higher concentration of polar singles at the edge of the dotted LC droplet, leading to a higher ${\Delta}n$ value and higher transmittance. This implies that the reductio of the exposure time of the dotted LC to air plays a critical role in decreasing the occurrence of lattice-shaped mura defects in ODF.

Free vibration analysis of multiple open-edge cracked beams by component mode synthesis

  • This study is an investigation of the effect of cracks on the dynamical characteristics of a cantilever beam, having multiple open-edge transverse cracks. The flexibilities due to crack have been identified for several crack depths and locations. In the study the finite element method and component mode synthesis methods are used. Coupling the components is performed by a flexibility matrix taking into account the interaction forces. Each component is modelled by cantilever beam finite elements with two nodes and three degrees of freedom at each node. The results obtained lead to conclusion that, by using the drop in the natural frequencies and the change in the mode shapes, the presence and nature of cracks in a structure can be detected. There is some counter-evidence, however, that the effects due to multiple cracks may interact to make detection more difficult than for isolated cracks.

Non-dimensional analysis of cylindrical objects freely dropped into water in two dimensions (2D)

  • The dropped objects are identified as one of the top ten causes of fatalities and serious injuries in the oil and gas industry. It is of importance to understand dynamics of dropped objects under water to accurately predict the motion of dropped objects and protect the underwater structures and facilities from being damaged. In this paper, we study non-dimensionalization of two-dimensional (2D) theory for dropped cylindrical objects. Non-dimensionalization helps to reduce the number of free parameters, identify the relative size of effects of force and moments, and gain a deeper insight of the essential nature of dynamics of dropped cylindrical objects under water. The resulting simulations of dimensionless trajectory confirms that drop angle, trailing edge and drag coefficient have the significant effects on dynamics of trajectories and landing location of dropped cylindrical objects under water.
