The Moderating Effect of Family Relationship on Depression in the Elderly (노년기 우울에 대한 가족관계 만족도의 중재효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of family relationship (relationship with spouse and adult children)about the impact of economical status and health(physical health, cognitive health) on depression. The data came from Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) 2005 of Korea labor institute. 2,566 individuals(male 1,535, female 1,031) with spouse and aged 65 and over were selected for this study. Using the multiple regression model, we found that significant effect of economical status, physical health and cognitive health on depression. Also relationship with spouse moderated the effect of economical status on depression and relationship with adult children moderated the effect of cognitive health on depression. The results of this study suggest that family relationship is important variable to reduce depression of the elderly.

Comparative Study of Design Methods for Sliding of Perforated-wall Caisson Breakwater (유공케이슨 방파제의 활동에 대한 설계법 비교 연구)

  • The conventional performance-based design method for the solid-wall caisson breakwater has been extended and applied to the perforated-wall caisson. The mathematical model to calculate the sliding distance of a perforated-wall caisson is verified against hydraulic experimental data. The developed performance-based design method is then compared with the conventional deterministic method in different water depths. Both the expected sliding distance and the exceedance percentage of total sliding distance during the structure lifetime decrease with decreasing water depth outside the surf zone, but they increase with decreasing water depth inside the surf zone. The performance-based design method is either more economical or less economical than the deterministic method depending on which design criterion is used. If the criterion for the ultimate limit state is used, the former method is less economical than the latter outside the surf zone, whereas the two methods are equally economical inside the surf zone. However, if the breakwater is designed to satisfy the criterion for the repairable limit state, the former method is more economical than the latter in all water depths.

Study on Installation Capacities of Wastewater Reclamation and Reusing System Applying to Contact Aeration Process using Cost-benefit Analysis (경제성분석을 이용한 접촉폭기방식 중수도의 설치규모분석에 관한 연구)

  • This study provides economical installation capacities for wastewater reclamation and reusing system in 7 areas of South Korea applying to contact aeration process using NPV(net present value) model based on cost-benefit. First. considering only private benefits. economical installation capacities for wastewater reclamation and reusing system applying to contact aeration process in household use were more than $500m^3/day$ in Pusan. $1,000m^3/day$ in Taegu. $2,000m^3/day$ in Kwangju. However. installation capacities in Seoul. Inchen, Taejon, and Ulsan were not optimal for $3,000m^3/day$. Therefore, supply ways of wastewater reclamation and reusing system in household use in the latter areas were more optimal local recirculation system than individual recirculation system. Economical installation capacities for wastewater reclamation and reusing system in business use were more than $100m^3/day$ in Seoul. Pusan. and Kwangju and which were $300m^3/day$ in Taegu, Inchen, Taejon, and Ulsan. Economical installation capacities for wastewater reclamation and reusing system in commercial use were more than $100m^3/day$ in Seoul, Pusan, Taegu, Kwangju, Taejon, and Ulsan, and which were $300m^3/day$ in Inchen. Second, considering only social benefits. economical installation capacity for wastewater reclamation and reusing system applying to contact aeration process was more than $100m^3/day$.

Economic Feasibility Study of the Life Extension by Reactor Type of Nuclear Power Plant in Korea (우리나라 원자력발전의 노형을 고려한 계속운전의 경제성 비교 연구)

  • This paper evaluated the economic feasibility of the life extension of Kori unit 1 and Wolsong unit 1 according to the types of the nuclear power plants (NPPs) and the life extension period comparing to the levelized costs of energy (LCOE) of the new NPPs, coal-fired plants (CFPs), and combined cycle gas turbine (CCGTs) which proposed in the $7^{th}$ Basic Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand. The economic feasibility of the life extension of NPPs using LCOE method is affected by the types of NPPs, lifetime extension periods, discount rate, and capacity factor. According to the analysis results, the pressurized light water reactor (PWR) is more economical than the pressurized heavy water reactor (PHWR). Comparing the economical efficiency between the life extension of NPPs and other alternatives, the operation of the PWR for 20 years is more economical than the one of new NPPs and CFPs. However, 20 years of life extension of PHWR is more economical than the CCGTs, but less economical than new NPPs and CFPs. In summary, the 20 years of life extension of the NPPs seems to be more, especially for the PWR, which is more cost effective than other generation alternatives. Therefore, the government policy of the life extension of NPPs need to be a selective approach that simultaneously considers both safety and economics rather than closing all NPPs.

Effect of Cubed Roughage Supplementation and Red Clay Levels on Growth Performance, Meat Quality and Economic Benefits in Korean Native Cattle (양질 조사료의 보충과 황토의 첨가수준이 한우의 성장성적, 육질 등급 및 경제성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to estimate the effects of high quality cubed roughage and red clay (0%, 1%, 2%) on growth performance, meat quality and economical benefits. Thirty-six 6 month-old Korean native cattle, averaging 156kg of BW, were assigned to six groups in a 2 (rice straw : RT, rice straw+cubed roughage : RCT) ${\times}$ 3 (0, 1, 2% red clay). During experimental period, the high quality cubed roughage added into rice straw treatment (RCT) was superior to the only rice straw treatment (RT) on daily gain and feed efficiency and final weight 10%, 6.8%, 8.2% (P$<$0.05) respectively. But the addition of red clay did not affect and even 2% addition decreased those parameters. For meat quality and economical analysis, the addition of high quality cubed roughage made an outstanding result and for RT treatment, only 1% red clay indicated good effects while both 1% and 2% red clay were better than 0% for RCT treatment. From these results, it is assumed that the addition of red clay for fattening Korean native cattle has no effects on growth performance but 1% treatment has good results on improving meat quality and economical benefits. It also suggests that the combination high quality roughage and concentrated red clay is beneficial for producing high quality meat in with economical benefits.

Relationships Among Worth to Watch, Satisfaction and Desire of Respectating of Music Performance (음악공연의 관람가치, 만족도 및 재관람의도 간의 관계)

  • In order to satisfy consumers' various desires for music performance, as it is important how to form sympathy with consumers, it is significant for music performance planners to find out which values the audiences think important when it comes to music performance art. The purpose of this study is to examine a relationship among worth to watch, performance satisfaction and desire of respectating that the audience recognizes. A questionnaire survey was carried out on 182 participants who have gone to musical performances. As a result of the study, 'educational value', 'economical value', 'emotional value' and 'social value' of spectating music performance had positive effects on both 'watching satisfaction' and 'desire of respectating', and especially when it comes to spectating satisfaction, emotional value and economical value were the significant effects, and for desire of respectating, economical value and social value were significant. Also, it was found that spectating satisfaction had a positive relationship with a desire of respectating. As implications according to the result of the study, firstly, it is necessary for music performance planner or performing artist to inspire emotional value of audience in order to increase spectating satisfaction of the audience, and performances needs to be planned considering economical values. Secondly, in order to improve desire of respectating, it is important to analyze which elements can increase economical and social values of the audience.

Productivity Affected by Various Disease Conditions in Bovine (소의 질병감염이 생산성에 미치는 영향)

  • Present investigations were undertaken in order to clarify the clinical status of Korean native cattle and dairy cattle(holstein). Blood, Feces and urine samples were collected from 247 Korean native cattle(222 adult and 25 calf), 224 dairy cattle(211 adult and 13 calf) at Chonbuk area and analyzed for clinical, serum chemical, hematological and urinary findings. In addition, we were examined the infection rate of Theileriosis, internal patasite and ring worm. The mean value for each component was calculated by statistical analysis using Excel computer program. From these investigations the following results were obtained. The mean values for RBC, PCV and etc in 433 adult cow(Korean native cattle and dairy cattle) were similar with other reports. But the mean values for MCHC of all species were lower than normal. Adult Korean native cattle and adult dairy cattle which showed hematologically normal levels were only 9.01% and 9.48%, respectively. Ahnormally high values for PCV, RBC and Hb were recorded in 7.66% of adult Korean native cattle, 20% of Korean native calf, 15.38% of dairy calf. Adult Korean native cattle and adult dairy cattle which showed hematologically anemia were 4.95% and 19.43% respectively, but all in Korean native calf and dairy calf showed normal values. Adult Korean native cattle, adult dairy cattle, Korean native calf and dairy calf which showed normal serum protein level were 84.0%, 90.8%, 50% and 44.4%, respectively. In present investigations, 50% of Korean native calf and 55.6% of dairy calf were decreased serum protein values under normal range. These abnormally decreased serum protein values mean the shortage of antibody, and these have a possibility to occrus to pneumonia and diarrhea. From these results, the economical loss caused by pneumonia was calculated as 124, 038, 833 won in the KNC and 742, 703, 430 won in the dairy calf rearing in Chonbuk area. Calculated economical loss caused by enteritis was 56, 658, 690 won in Korean native cattle. 476, 775, 799 won in dairy calf and the total loss amount to 533, 434, 488 won in Chonbuk area. Abnormally high values($21.7{\pm}4.0mg/dl) for serum calcium were recorded 49.6% in dairy cattle. The mean values of serum total cholesterol were $170.8{\pm}99.8mg/dl in Korean native cattle, $196.0{\pm}40.6mg/dl$ in Korean native calf, $202.9{\pm}86.0mg/dl$ in adult dairy cattle and $289.4{\pm}97.5mg/dl$ in dairy calf. The infection rate of internal parasite were as follows; adult Korean native cattle:21.2%, Korean native calf:80%, adult dairy cattle:67.8%. The estimated economical loss caused by internal parasites infection were 1, 120, 855, 837 won in Korean native calf, 4, 994, 959, 405 won in adult Korean native cattle, 3, 334, 751, 066 won in adult holstein, and the total loss amount to 9, 450, 566, 308 won. The infection rate of theileriosis were 1.4% in Korean native cattle and 6.6% in dairy cattle. The presumed Economical loss by T. sergenti infection were 154, 408, 482 won in Korean native cattle and 171, 577, 237 won in dairy cattle rearing at Chonbuk area. The infection rat of ringworm were 0.5% in Korean native cattle, 0.9% in adult dairy cattle and 7.7% in dairy calf. The presumed economical loss by dermatomycophyte were 12, 061, 532 won in Korean native cattle, 16, 895, 403 won in dairy cattle, and the total estimated loss amount to 28, 955, 935 won a year in Chonbuk area. The infection rate of ringworm were 0. 5% in Korean native cattle, 0.9% in adult dairy cattle and 7.7% in dairy calf. The presumed economical loss by dermatomycophyte were 12, 061, 532 won in Korean native cattle, 16, 895, 403 won in dairy cattle, and the total estimated loss amount to 28, 955, 935 won a year in Chonbuk area.
