  • The purpose of this paper is to explore Korean adolescents' understanding of safety using the indigenous psychologies approach. This paper examines Korean adolescents' experience of the type of accidents they were involved in, what they perceived to be the cause of the accident, the type of social support received after the accident, and the prevention needed to avoid future accidents. The indigenous understanding of accidents is examined according to the grade level of the students, gender, and safety efficacy beliefs. Second, to examine the changes in the safety efficacy beliefs, the differences across primary, junior high, and senior high school students are examined. Third, the relationship between safety efficacy belief and attitudes toward preventing future accidents is explored. Third, the parental influence on adolescents' safety efficacy belief is examined by analyzing the influence of their socio-economic status and their safety efficacy belief on their children's safety efficacy belief and behavior. The review of the results can be summarized into the following five main points: (1) decrease in safety efficacy belief with increasing age, (2) positive relationship between safety efficacy belief and behavior, (3) the utility of the indigenous psychologies approach, (4) the parental influence on their children's safety efficacy beliefs and behavior, and (5) the need to further explore, promote, and educate the importance of human life and quality of life by preventing accidents and promoting safety consciousness and behavior in Korea.

And the ratio of the students' feeling that they are healthy becomes also high in proportion to their economic status, and their mothers' educational level, and their parents' interest in health(p〈0.01). The perceived importance of health is high in proportion to the students' economic status, and their parent's interest in health. 2. In case of the Health Locus of Control in Personality, the students with both parents have higher trend of inner control than the students with single mother or single father. • In recent times, the global economy has been subject to increasing volatility, which has made it considerably more difficult to accurately predict economic indicators compared to previous periods. In response to this challenge, the present study conducts an exploratory investigation that aims to predict the Business Survey Index (BSI) by leveraging data mining techniques on both structured and unstructured data sources. For the structured data, we have collected information regarding foreign, domestic, and industrial conditions, while the unstructured data consists of content extracted from newspaper articles. By employing an extensive set of 44 distinct data mining techniques, our research strives to enhance the BSI prediction accuracy and provide valuable insights. The results of our analysis demonstrate that the highest predictive power was attained when using data exclusively from the t-1 period. Interestingly, this suggests that previous timeframes play a vital role in forecasting the BSI effectively. The findings of this study hold significant implications for economic decision-makers, as they will not only facilitate better-informed decisions but also serve as a robust foundation for predicting a wide range of other economic indicators. By improving the prediction of crucial economic metrics, this study ultimately aims to contribute to the overall efficacy of economic policy-making and decision processes.

  • The purpose of this research examines the factors that influence happiness among Korean adolescents by focusing on psychological resource (as measured by self-efficacy), relational resource (as measured by social support) and financial resource (as measured by family's monthly income). In addition, the influence of academic achievement on happiness is examined. To examine the influence of socio-economic status and family's monthly income, adolescents living in three different districts in Seoul (from working to middle to upper class districts) were randomly selected and interviewed in their home. A total of 190 elementary school, middle school, high school and university students (male=83, female=107) completed the resiliency of efficacy scale developed by Bandura (1995) and emotional support and happiness scale developed by the present researchers, in addition to background information. The results of the path analysis are as follows. First, the most important predictor of happiness among Korean adolescents is relational resources. In other words, emotional support received from significant others was most predictive of happiness; more than 60 times the effect of family's monthly income, three times the effect of academic achievement, and two times the effect of resiliency of efficacy. The second most important factor that predicted the happiness of Korean adolescents was psychological resource (i.e., resiliency of efficacy), which had 30 times the effect of family's monthly income. In addition resiliency of efficacy played a mediating role between emotional support on one hand and happiness on the other. Third, those respondents who had higher academic achievement reported higher levels of happiness, which had 20 times the effect of family's monthly income. Fourth, family monthly income did not predict happiness among Korean adolescents. Fifth, socio-economic status and school level did not have direct influence on happiness but had mediating influence through their influence on emotional support. In other words, those respondents with higher socio-economic status and elementary school students were more likely to receive social support from significant others, which in turn increased their happiness. These results indicate that the most important predictor of happiness among Korean adolescents is emotional support, followed by resiliency of effic acy and academic achievement, indicating that those adolescents from wealthy families are not necessarily happier.
