The Application of Ecological Interface Design Methodology for Digitalized MCR in Nuclear Power Plant

  • Objective: This study proposes the application of Ecological Interface Design(EID) method that is effective for situation awareness in digitalized environment. Background: While cognitive interface design method such as Information Rich Display(IRD) is simply focused on existing information for user, EID method helps users' resource to be solved to higher ion task such as diagnostic and problem solving. Method: Using EID method based on Work Domain Analysis (WDA), it was analyzed and designed for Steam Generator(SG) Water Level control process in a digitalized Main Control Room of Nuclear Power Plant. Proposed EID example is evaluated through interviews by expert & operator. Results: The result of expert & operator showed that EID display might give an aid for operator's decision. Conclusion: The results can reduce critical accidental damage that occurred due to cognitive load and so critical human error. Application: This study may be impact on situation awareness study for digitalized interface design.

An initial study on ecological environment changes after emergent water transportation at lower reaches of Tarim River, China based on remote sensing technique

  • Tarim River is the longest continental river in China. Its downstream ecological environment declination and valley remedy got great concern. To improve ecological environment of lower Tarim River, “Emergent water transportation project for Tarim river valley remedy” was carried out from May 2000. Water was transported five times till May 2003. Several periods MODIS image was used to monitor water body in river channel. Two periods ETM image was used to interpreter changes of environment. Area of vegetation in 1999 was similar with 2001, but become better in total. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and vegetative coverage reflected environment changed better.

  • Ecological communities adapt the concept of informatics in the late 20 century and develop rapidly in the early 21 century to form Ecoinformatics as the new approach of ecological research. The new approach takes into account the data-intensive nature of ecology, the precious information content of ecological data, and the growing capacity of computational technology to leverage complex data as well as the critical need for informing sustainable management of complex ecosystems. It comprehends techniques for data management, data analysis, synthesis, and forecasting on ecological research. The present paper attempts to review the development history, studies and application cases of ecoinformatics in ecological research especially on Long Term Ecological Research (LTER). From the applications show that the ecoinformatics approach and management system have formed a new paradigm in ecological research.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an environmentally friendly system of ecological village with the reference to amish village, and also to make a proposal for application skill of ecological village. Ecological village is environmentally friendly lifestyle and an alternative plan of environmental pollution. There is growing international scientific consensus that human activities are having a discernible effect on the global climate. Up to now, the development of ecological village has been actively initiated and still continues by some venture farmers with a vision and strong will. These study results are definitely very conducive to spread ecological village knowledge among the public.

  • A GIS application for assessment of carrying capacity for national parks was developed and presented in this study. Three criteria--ecological factors, facilities, and institutions--were employed as determining factors for assessing the carrying capacity. Using the GIS-based approach, the site-specific carrying capacity for the Chi-Ri National Park was assessed and a carrying capacity map was prepared. This carrying capacity map can be helpful in making policies for decentralizing visitors and keeping the park environmentally stable.

  • The purpose of this study is make a proposal for application skill of Ecological communal. Ecological communal is Environmentally friendly lifestyle and an alternative plan of Environmental pollution. The environment was polluted the cause by The Development of scientific technique and economy. Recently, Environmental pollution spreads through over the world over. Moreover, An increasing gulf between the rich and the poor. In result, rise to the emergency in cooperation with the whole world. We need to advance a new direction for society to take in order to suffer environmental problems which have emerged as the most serious. The development of ecological communal is directed toward realizing a sustainable society. If life styles are to become less dependent on ecological resources and reduce externalities, same as Ecological communal, then a wide range of renewable energy technologies and energy saving measures are required. Up to now, the development of ecological communal has been actively initiated and still continues by some venture farmers whit a vision and strong will. These study results are definitely very conducive to spread ecological communal knowledge among the public.

프랭크 로이드 라이트의 유소니언 주택의 생태적 특성 (Ecological Characteristics of Usonian Houses of Frank Lloyd Wright)

  • This study aims at exploring the characteristics of the Usonian houses of Frank Lloyd Wright from an ecological viewpoint. After considering the definition and application of ecological architecture through literature review, 28 Usonian houses were selected and analyzed for the study. Also, nine Usonian houses, which clearly have ecological and historical importance, were visited and more thoroughly analyzed. The result shows that Usonian houses are ecological in terms of 1) the relationship among nature, landscape and house, 2) the orientation, natural light and natural ventilation, 3) the use of natural local materials including wood, stones and bricks, 4) the use of floor heating (the On-dol system inKorea), 5) the human scale, 6) the use of the board and batten unit (an early system of prefabrication), and 7) the openness and flexibility of floor plans.

공동주택단지 생태면적 적용 특성 분석 : 생태면적률, 생태면적 다양성, 생태면적 연계성을 중심으로 (Analysis of Eco-Area Application Characteristics of Apartment Complexes : Focusing on Eco-Area Ratio, Eco-Area Diversity, and Eco-Area Connectivity)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국외와 국내 생태면적 관련 제도의 평가지표 항목 차이를 고찰하고 분석지표를 도출한 후 준공된 공동주택단지를 대상으로 생태면적률이 전체 적용되기 전과 후, 최근 준공 공동주택단지의 생태면적 분석지표로 구분하여 생태면적 특성 적용 차이점을 분석하고 그 시사점을 제시하는 것이다. 연구의 공간적 범위는 준공이 완료된 수도권과 비수도권 공동주택단지를 대상으로 하였다. 준공된 공동주택단지 36개소를 분석 대상지로 선정, 생태면적 기초자료를 구축 후 그 자료를 활용하여 생태면적률, 생태면적 다양성, 생태면적 연계성의 세가지 분석지표로 구분하여 수도권 지역, 비수도권 지역의 지역별, 분양주택단지・임대주택단지 등의 공동주택단지 유형별, 대규모・중규모・소규모의 단지 규모별로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 생태면적률과 생태면적 공간유형 다양성은 비수도권 지역보다 수도권 지역이, 임대주택단지보다 분양주택단지가 더 높고 다양한 것으로 나타났다. 공동주택단지 규모가 소규모보다는 중규모, 대규모일 경우가 생태면적률이 더 높고 생태면적 다양성도 더 다양하게 반영되었다. 생태면적 연계성의 경우 수도권 지역이 비수도권 지역보다 생태면적 연계 개소와 연계 유형이 더 많고 다양하게 나타났다. 본 연구의 시사점은 생태면적률과 생태면적 다양성을 확보하기 위해 공동주택단지 개발시 중규모, 대규모 개발을 고려할 필요가 있다. 생물다양성 향상을 위해 공동주택단지 내부와 외부의 생태면적 네트워크 연계가 필요하다. 향후 단지내부의 생태면적 네트워크 연계 후속연구가 필요하다.

도심내 생태수목원 조성기법에 관한 연구 -대전광역시를 사례로- (A Study on Creation Method of Ecological Arboretum as Wildlife Habitat in Urban Area -A case study of Daejon Metropolitan City-)

  • This is a study on how to create an ecological arboretum that would promote biodiversity by creating wild animal habitats in terms of using large-scale remnants in urban areas and that would serve as a field for environment education based on its locational feature of being an urban area and its accessibility. This study is significant in a sense that this is the first arboretum to be created in urban area. However, it has a couple of limitations and they are as follows. First, since an arboretum creation plan is a mid/long-term plan, it is difficult to verify the biodiversity promotion effect of the application of habitats and creation techniques. Second, as the space was created by considering ecological features and utilizing natural prototype, the diversity of forest trees in here is lower than that of a traditional arboretum.
