Smart EVs Charging Scheme for Load Leveling Considering ToU Price and Actual Data

  • With the current global need for eco-friendly energies, the large scale use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is predicted. However, the need to frequently charge EVs to an electrical power system involves risks such as rapid increase of demand power. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a practical smart EV charging scheme considering a Time-of-Use (ToU) price to prevent the rapid increase of demand power and provide load leveling function. For a more practical analysis, we conduct simulations based on the actual distribution system and driving patterns in the Republic of Korea. Results show that the proposed method provides a proper load leveling function while preventing a rapid increase of demand power of the system.

The Study on Improvement of Acoustic Performance for Automobile Sound-absorbing Materials Using Hollow Fiber (중공 섬유를 이용한 자동차 흡음재 성능 향상 연구)

  • Generally, sound-absorbing materials in vehicles are used for giving the comfort to passengers by reducing noise while driving. Materials of which targets are light weight, high performance, eco friendliness and recycling have been developed recently. In this study, sound-absorbing materials using PET(polyethylene terephthalate) hollow fibers to achieve the light weight and the high sound absorption performance are developed, and then evaluated to meet a requirement for the automotive components. The test results show that the acoustic performances of developed products having new fiber structure are better than those of the conventional product.

  • In Korean Electric Motor Unit(EMU) industry, the government should lead and drive the development of the product-oriented fundamental technologies(for example, Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Labelling, Ecodesign, Eco-efficiency etc.) for the EMU. International Railway Union(UIC) establish UIC code 345: Environmental specification and it is based on using the product-oriented fundamental technologies. And also many foreign railway related companies already shown their environmental performance using the product-oriented fundamental technologies So, in Korean situation, it is important that let the EMU industrial player understand the importance of the product-oriented fundamental technology for the EMU and clarify who drive the development of the product-oriented fundamental technology for the EMU and what the type of driving forces.

  • The field emission lamps have the advantages to their cold cathode-characteristic and the eco-friendly, We realized that the dual emitter system showed very simple structure which gate and cathode electrodes are formed on the same glass surface. In this paper, we reported the properties of dual emitters depended on variation of gate width and spacing for optimum panel structure. In combination of dual emitter structure and bi-polar driving, electron beam spreads more than normal gate structure or diode structure, and emission uniformity increased in dual emitter structure at 5"-diagonal.

  • 본 논문은 친환경 운전(Eco Driving)에 대한 사회적, 기술적 관심이 고조되고 있는 현 상황에서 차량에서 제공하는 차량 정보 가운데 MAF 센서 값을 이용하여 차량의 주행 연비를 추정하고자 하였다. MAF는 화학반응에서 연료 1g당 혼합되는 공기의 양을 의미하며, g/s의 단위를 사용한다. 휘발유 차량의 경우 엔진 ECU에서 폐회로 제어를 통해 혼합비를 14.7:1로 일정하게 유지하는 동작을 수행하므로 우리는 MAF 값을 통해 차량의 주행 연비 추정이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 국내에서 생산중인 차종들에 대해 MAF 값을 이용한 실제 주행 테스트 수행하였으며, 이에 대한 연비 결과를 종합적으로 비교 분석하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 안드로이드 기반의 스마트폰에서 운전자의 운전 패턴에 따른 연료 소비량을 감소하기 위한 운전 습관을 유도하는 방법을 제안하였다. 이 시스템은 차량의 정확한 내부 상태 정보를 바탕으로 운전 상태를 스마트폰으로 제공한다. 차량의 상태정보를 추출하기 위해서 차량 네트워크인 CAN 버스를 사용하였으며, 이를 하드웨어로 구현하였다. 효율적인 ECO_Driving을 위한 차량 데이터들을 추출하여 분석하였으며, 이들 데이터를 바탕으로 운전자에게 에코여부를 제공하는 애플리케이션을 구현하였다. 이 시스템으로 경제운전으로 배기가스 감축, 에너지절약과 사고 예방을 유도할 수 있다.

Development of a Pavement Cutter for Eco-friendly Road Excavation Construction (친환경 도로굴착 시공을 위한 도로절단기 개발)

  • Recently, as underground facilities buried under roads in Korea are aging, the amount of underground facility maintenance work is rapidly increasing. For the maintenance and management of such underground facilities, the cutting work of the road pavement should be preceded. However, the conventional road pavement cutters used in Korea are not eco-friendly, and the reality is that they generate a lot of noise and cutting sludge (scattering dust). Therefore, in this study, the concept of the cutting sludge recovery device was derived, and an eco-friendly pavement cutter including this function was designed and manufactured. The developed equipment took about 20 to 30 seconds to cut 1m to a depth of 100 to 150mm. Also, the sludge suction performance was good in most sections, and the noise level of the equipment briefly measured at a distance of 2m was 82.7dB on average. However, due to the limitation that the developed equipment was at the level of the first prototype, the driving stability was somewhat low, and equipment abnormalities such as engine shutdown and sludge recovery performance decreased in some cases. The cutting performance and sludge recovery function will be more stable through tuning and improvement of the developed prototype in the future. In addition, we plan to quantitatively compare and analyze productivity by applying the improved prototype to actual field conditions.

Evaluation of Fuel Consumption Models for Eco-friendly Traffic Operations Strategies (친환경 교통운영전략을 위한 차량 연료소모량 예측모형 평가)

  • As the necessity of the evaluation of environmentally-friendly traffic operations strategies becomes obvious, the characteristics of fuel consumption models should be comprehended in advance. This study selected three fuel consumption models developed in Korea and another three models widely used in North America, and compared their applicabilities. Specifically, the national institute of environmental research (NIER) drive modes and the VISSIM software were utilized to model various driving patterns, and their fuel consumptions were estimated using the fuel consumption models. Based on the results, all the models showed the similar results in the analysis of the most fuel efficient cruising speed. On the other hand, caution should be taken when using the KR-1 and KR-2 models in microscopic analyses because they are not sensitive to instantaneous power requirements of vehicles.

  • The important of Smart City has been increasing on the driving force of 4th industrial revolution and method to solve urban problems. Korea government introduced and implemented ubiquitous City as an intrinsic Smart City brand from the early 21th century. Diverse types of Smart City projects were announced as national strategy by the spatial characteristics. National Test-Beds in Sejong city and Busan(EDC: Eco Delta City) are urban planning to be future city models for new town development. In the old towns in cities, various type of Smart City projects are support by government by urban growth stage; frontiers, stable or declining urban realm. 「3rd Comprehensive Plan for Smart City(2019 ~ 2023)」 in Korea plans an important role to build innovative ecosystem and reinforce global competiveness by spreading of Smart Cities. For the successful Smart City as open and inclusive space, it is need that this space should be made by the cooperation of citizens, private sectors and local and central government.
