Experimental Investigation of the Hydrodynamic Force Acting on Ship Hull and Rudder in Various Wave Direction

  • In the past, traditional methods of research on ship maneuvering performance were estimated in calm waters. However, the course-keeping ability and the maneuvering performance of a ship can be influenced by the presence of waves. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the maneuvering behavior of a ship in waves. In this study, the force acting on a moving ship and a rudder behind the model ship will be performed in regular waves in Changwon National University (CWNU). In addition, the prediction force acting on the rudder in calm waters was carried out and compared with those of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Model test in regular wave was performed to predict the force acting on the ship and the rudder behind the model ship in various wave directions. The effects of wavelength and wave direction on hydrodynamic forces acting on the ship hull versus rudder angle is discussed.

  • Due to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) environmental regulations on NOx and SOx, LNG-fueled eco-friendly ships are gaining attention worldwide, and various eco-friendly ships are being proposed and demanded for conversion to eco-friendly ships in Korea, as the eco-friendly ship law has recently been enforced. In this study, the initial basic design was performed to convert an existing Marine Gas Oil (MGO) fueled ship into an LNG-DF propulsion ship, targeting medium-sized ship, to select the fuel tank capacity and main dimensions and appropriate fuel ratio between the two fuels. In particular, Sustainable basic design method considering environmental impact were proposed by performing a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) throughout the design process, and various design options were compared and analyzed to meet different design conditions by applying them.

  • 본 논문에서는 친환경 선박용 전기추진시스템의 안전성 향상 기술개발 동향에 대해 조사하였다. 온실효과 및 탄소배출량 감축을 위해 친환경 전기선박에 대한 수요는 점차 늘어날 전망이다. 친환경 전기선박의 주요 구성요소 중 하나인 에너지 저장장치에는 에너지밀도와 효율이 높은 리튬이온 배터리가 일반적으로 사용된다. 하지만 리튬이온 배터리는 에너지 저장장치의 주요 화재원인 중 하나로 지목된다. 항해 중인 선박에 화재 발생 시, 화재진압을 위한 소방설비 및 소방작업이 제한되어 친환경 선박에서의 안전성 향상기술은 더욱 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 친환경 선박의 안전성 향상을 위한 전기추진모터 및 에너지저장장치에 적용되는 최신 기술에 대해 조사 및 분석을 진행하였다.

An experimental Study on the Motion of a Floater Moored Near Port in Waves Generated by a Ship

  • In the past, there were several researchers investigating waves generated by a small boat. Wave generated by a ship can be divided into two distinct systems of waves, such as transverse and diverging waves. It is necessary to understand the behavior of a ship in waves generated by a small boat near port in the view point of ship safety. In this study, the motion of moored floater in waves generated by a small boat near port is investigated. The model test is performed in waves in a square tank in Changwon National University (CWNU). IMU and optical-based system which uses the technique of recording and capturing attitude with respect time are used for measuring 6DOF motion of the moored floater. In addition, tension gauges are used to measure the tension of mooring lines. The effect of waves generated by a small boat on motion of the moored floater near port is investigated through performing the model test in various wave directions of virtually but reasonably assumed wave scenarios.

계층분석법(AHP)을 이용한 친환경선박 보급정책의 중요도 분석 (Analysis of the Importance of Eco-friendly Ship Dissemination Policy using the Analytic Hierarchy Process)

  • 국제해사기구(IMO)에서 선박으로부터 배출되는 온실가스 등 대기오염물질을 감축하기 위해 해운분야 환경규제를 강화하고 있어 전 세계적으로 조선·해운산업의 패러다임이 친환경·고효율 선박으로 전환되고 있다. 우리나라도 친환경선박을 보급하기 위해 2020년부터 친환경선박 보급 확대 정책을 추진하고 있다. 본 논문은 우리정부의 친환경선박 보급정책에 대하여 전문가 12명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 계층분석법(AHP)을 활용하여 정책의 중요도를 평가하였다. 분석결과, 6개 중점추진과제 중에서 무탄소 및 저탄소 선박개발을 위한 "미래 친환경선박 세계 선도 기술확보" 정책이 가장 중요한 것으로 나타났다. AHP 분석을 통한 친환경선박 정책의 중요도를 분석한 본 연구는 국제해양환경규제에 선제적으로 대응하고, 우리 해운 및 조선 산업의 보호와 신산업 육성 측면에서 예산 배분 및 정책개발 등 정책 집행의 효율성을 제고할 수 있는 방향 설정을 위한 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

원자력 선박 적용을 위한 국내 원자력 안전규제 개선 및 적용방안에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the Improvement and Application Plans of Korean Nuclear Safety Regulations for their Application on Nuclear powered ships)

  • As a global effort for eco-friendly, the ship building is making great efforts to develop ships using low-carbon, eco-friendly alternative fuels. Nuclear energy, one of several eco-friendly alternative energy sources, is evaluated as an effective alternative for future ships by minimizing carbon emissions and securing economic feasibility with low power generation cost. However, although appropriate regulatory requirements are necessary for commercialization of nuclear powered ships, there are currently no regulatory requirements for nuclear powered ships in Korea. In this study, accordingly, domestic and international regulatory requirements related to nuclear powered ships were reviewed, matters to be considered in terms of safety when developing domestic marine nuclear reactor regulatory requirements were derived, and a licensing regulatory system for nuclear powered ships was derived.This study is expected to be used as basic reference data when developing regulatory requirements for nuclear powered ships.

전기복합 추진어선의 안전기준 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Development Safety Criteria for Hybrid Electrical Propulsion Fishing Boats)

  • 국내외 매년 지속적으로 증가하는 대기오염의 상당량이 선박에서 배출되고 있으며, 이러한 선박에서의 배출량을 감축하기 위해 정부는 환경규제를 강화하고 해양대기환경 개선을 위해 「환경친화적 선박의 개발 및 보급 촉진에 관한 법률」을 제정 및 시행하여 친환경 에너지를 동력원으로 사용하는 환경친화적 선박을 보급하여 해양오염 저감 기술이 개발되도록 하고 있다. 환경친화적 선박의 기술은 최근 순수 전기추진 내지는 전기복합 추진체계까지 진화하고 있으나, 선박의 안전한 운용을 위한 검사 및 설비기준 등 관련제도의 정비는 이를 못 따라가는 실정으로, 특히 국내 연안선박의 다수를 차지하는 어선에 대한 제도는 정비가 시급한 시점이다. 이번 연구를 통해 어선에의 전기복합 추진체계 등의 적용을 위해 핵심기자재인 배터리, 전력변환장치 등을 정의하고 이에 필요한 안전기준을 진단, 마련하여 친환경 어선의 도입과 보급을 위해 관련된 산업을 지원할 수 있도록 최소한의 안전기준안을 마련하고자 한다.

윤리소비신념이 친환경 인조피혁 의류제품 태도에 미치는 영향과 지각된 소비자 효율 및 의류환경지식의 매개효과 (Impacts of Ethical Consumption Beliefs on Attitudes toward Eco-Friendly Faux Leather Apparel Products and Mediating Roles of Perceived Consumer Effectiveness and Apparel Environmental Knowledge)

  • This study investigated the conceptual constructs of ethical consumption beliefs and their impacts on the consumer attitudes toward eco-friendly faux leather apparel goods. The mediating roles of perceived consumer effectiveness and apparel environmental knowledge were examined in this research. A survey was conducted on female consumers between the ages of 20 and 50; subsequently, 300 responses were analyzed. The results of this study were follows: 1) The results of factor analysis and the reliability test on ethical consumption beliefs clearly showed factorial structures that include Social Responsibility, Eco-friendly Consumption, Animal Welfare, and Individual Enhancement. 2) The results of the mean scores of ethical consumption beliefs showed that respondents tended to consider Social Responsibility more important than the other three factors. Ethical consumption beliefs showed a significantly positive influence on consumer attitudes toward eco-friendly faux leather apparel products; in addition, Social Responsibility had the highest effect on product attitudes among the four factors of ethical consumption beliefs. 3) The perceived consumer effectiveness and environmental knowledge of apparel had important medicating roles in the relation-ship between ethical consumption beliefs and attitudes towards eco-friendly faux leather apparel products. This study highlighted a potential marketability of eco-friendly faux leather apparel products and that ethical consumption beliefs, perceived consumer effectiveness, and apparel environmental knowledge should be promoted among consumers to increase favorable attitudes towards these products.
