The application of oral sedation in the field of dentistry (임상가를 위한 특집 2 - 치과영역에서 경구진정법의 활용)

  • Sedation is frequently required to relieve anxiety in the field of dentistry. Among sedation techniques, oral sedation has been widely used because it is easy for administration and has a wide acceptability for dentists. This article discuss the pharmacology of oral sedatives and therapeutic considerations of these drugs, and finally how to manage apprehensive patients using oral sedation. Also, we recommend how pertinent drugs should be used to maintain an adequate level of sedation, not deep sedation

Smart Passive System Based on MR Damper (MR댐퍼 기반의 스마트 수동제어 시스템)

  • Magnetorheological(MR) dampers are one of the most promising semi active control devices, because they have advantages such as small power requirement, reliability, and low price to manufacture. To reduce the responses of structures with MR dampers, a control system including power supply, controller, and sensors is required. However, when a mount of MR dampers are used to a large?scale civil structure such as cable stayed bridges, the control system becomes complex. Therefore, it is not easy to install and maintain the MR damper based control system. To resolve above difficulties, This paper proposes a smart passive system that consists of a MR damper and an electromagnetic induction(EMI) system. According to the Faraday’s law of induction, EMI system that is attached to the MR damper produces electric energy. The produced energy is supplied to the MR damper. Thus, the MR damper with EMI system does not require any power at all. Furthermore, the induced electric energy is proportional to external loads like earthquakes, which means the MR damper with EMI system is adaptable to external loads without any controller and corresponding sensors. Therefore, it is easy to build up and maintain the proposed smart passive system.

Airway Evaluation for Endotracheal Intubation of Mandibular Prognathic Patient (하악전돌증 환자에서 기관내 삽관을 위한 기도평가에 관한 연구)

  • Background: The fundamental responsibility of an anesthesiologist is to maintain adequate gas exchange. Failure to maintain a patent airway can result in brain damage or death. Generally, in patients with mandibular prognathism, who have the protruded mandible, the mask ventilation was thought to be not easy. The purpose of this study was to observe the degree of the difficulty of airway management in mandibular prognathism using some anatomic criteria for defining and grading difficulty of airway and difficulty of endotracheal intubation with direct laryngoscope. Methods: The observations and measurements are done to the 54 patients with mandibular prognathism, who were scheduled for corrective esthetic surgery. The case study is done to the 30 patients with normal mandible for control group. In all patients, mouth opening distance (MOD), mouse opening angle (MOA), mandibular length (ML), mandibular depth (MD), thyromental distance (TMD), thyromental area (TMA), Mallampati grades, and Cormack and Lehane grades are measured. T-test and Chi-square test are done (P < 0.05). Results: In the mandibular prognathism cases, the measurements of MD, TMD and TMA are more greater than those of controls (P < 0.05). Mallampati grades with tongue thrust are higher in the female mandibular prognathism cases than those of female controls. Most of the grades of the mandibular prognathism cases with Cormack and Lehane grading system are I or II being easy intubation cases (P < 0.05) Conclusions: In the patients of mandibular prognathism, the intubation with laryngoscope will be easer than that of normal mandible in general. It is for that their laryngeal aperture can be easily visible when the laryngoscope are used.

A Study on the Elderly Households' Needs for Housing Modification (노인가구 특성에 따른 주거개조요구에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to figure out the old people's needs for modification of their housing to maintain an independent lifestyle despite their health status and living arrangements. The total of 438 residents take part in the questionnaire survey research through the quota sampling method grouped by age (60-64 group, 65-69 group, 70-74 group, and over 75 group), sex (male and female), and house type (apartment houses and others). The results are as follows. (1) The old people's most inspired modification needs in interior spaces are remodeling the heating controls in the living room and the bedroom, ventilation facilities and storage spaces in the kitchen, non-slip tile flooring and ventilation facilities in bathroom, an easy door-lock, non-slip tile flooring, a draft cut-off, and storage spaces in the entrance. Besides they require emergency alarm, easy door and window locks, fire and gas alarm, and furniture with easy handling. It is necessary to supply the aged with the appropriate heating controls for their sensitivity to heat, with enough storage spaces for the increased possessions, and with diverse safety systems reflected blunting of mobility and sensibility. (2) As they grow older, the aged require more remote controls and safety facilities such as emergency alarm, easy locks and furniture with distinguishable colors. Male elderly is more concerned with safety, while female elderly do with convenience due to their different time spending in the house. The elderly residents in the apartment houses require the heating controls, a draft cut-off, and storage space less than other types of houses. Thus modification of the heating controls, a draft cut-off, and storage space are regards as basic needs for the elderly residents in non-apartment houses.

  • It is essential for any public institution to establish a systematical scheme and a management system to maintain the contents and securities of its ever-expanding web-site with efficiency. The general users want a reliable system and a simple and stress-free web environment and expect the public institutions to maintain the accuracy and conformity of information they provide to the public. In this study, I examined a web-site owned by a certain governmental research institute for the current maintenance status and problems to seek an effective and easy-to-use scheme for both users and web managers. Based on what I learned from my study, I moved on to design a web integration system and tested it on the above mentioned web-site for analysis.

  • This paper is to study the inverted pendulum system of cart type by using the method of PID control. This system is that inverted pendulum maintain a constant balance from unstable state by moving a cart. It is controlled via the PID controller. PID controller is proposed to maintain a constant balance for nonlinear system such as the inverted pendulum system so PID control is widely used in the industrial field because of superior control performance, easy implementation and relatively simple structure. To design this system, it consist of Encorder and DC motor. Encorder is used to read the angle of the pendulum and DC motor is used to change the angle. We can verify results of experiment through the Matlab simulator via the inverted pendulum system of cart type.

  • Airplane reservoirs made of Al7075 are coated with an anodizing layer to maintain precision, air tightness and corrosion resistance. It is commonly required that the inner surface roughness of the reservoir be less than an average $0.2{\mu}m$ to maintain stable oil pressure. Even though precision polishing is necessary to achieve this quality it is not easy. Inner surface roughness is not uniform and the quality of the product is irregular because most of the work is done by hand. The purpose of this study is to design an exclusive polishing machine and to determine the standard cutting condition and polishing condition necessary for good inner surface roughness and to improve workefficiency.

  • U-learning (ubiquitous learning) systems, which deliver learning materials anytime and anywhere, allow learners to watch live lectures on PDAs, tablet PCs and notebook computers via broadband and wireless Internet. These systems have various problems; first, terminal devices are expensive, and it is difficult to maintain their efficiencies. Secondly, Internet does not guarantee quality of service (QoS), and in general it does not provide real-time services. Finally, the security of these systems is weaker in a local network than in an external network. The USB-based terminal system based on the OSGi service platform was designed as a ubiquitous system, in order to solve those problems. The USB terminals, used in this system, are inexpensive, and it is easy to maintain their performances. Also, this system solves the problems of security in a local network and provides guaranteed QoS. To accomplish this, the number of USB terminals connected to the system has to be limited according to the formula proposed in our paper. This system uses the OSGi specification as a middleware. It supports the discovery mechanism of the USB terminals, maintenance and administration of the system. Finally, this paper shows a driver's license testing system as an example u-learning application1.

Finding Naval Ship Maintenance Expertise Through Text Mining and SNA

  • Because military weapons systems for special purposes are small and complex, they are not easy to maintain. Therefore, it is very important to maintain combat strength through quick maintenance in the event of a breakdown. In particular, naval ships are complex weapon systems equipped with various equipment, so other equipment must be considered for maintenance in the event of equipment failure, so that skilled maintenance personnel have a great influence on rapid maintenance. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed maintenance data of defense equipment maintenance information system through text mining and social network analysis(SNA), and tried to identify the naval ship maintenance expertise. The defense equipment maintenance information system is a system that manages military equipment efficiently. In this study, the data(2,538cases) of some naval ship maintenance teams were analyzed. In detail, we examined the contents of main maintenance and maintenance personnel through text mining(word cloud, word network). Next, social network analysis(collaboration analysis, centrality analysis) was used to confirm the collaboration relationship between maintenance personnel and maintenance expertise. Finally, we compare the results of text mining and social network analysis(SNA) to find out appropriate methods for finding and finding naval ship maintenance expertise.

Posture control of buoyancy sculptures using drone technology (드론 기술을 이용한 부력 조형물의 자세 제어)

  • The floating sculptures in the form of ad-ballon commonly used ropes in order to hold on. Relatively air flow is much less indoor than outdoor. Users of buoyancy sculptures hope to be able to maintain their desired posture without being fixed. This study applied drone technology to buoyancy sculptures. The drones can be moved vertically and horizontally, and the posture can be maintained, so buoyancy sculptures are easy to apply. Therefore, we have studied the control system of buoyancy sculpture using drone technology. Also, a control system that can maintain the desired posture at a constant height was studied. The overall shape was a light fiber material and helium gas for zero buoyancy to support the sculpture. The system configuration was STM32F103CB from ARM. In addition, the gyro and acceleration, geomagnetic sensors and motors are composed of small and medium size BLDC motors. The scheduling of the control system in the configuration of the control device was carefully considered. Because the role of the whole component becomes very important. The communication between the components is divided into the sensor fusion and the interface communication with the whole controller. Each communication technology is designed to expand. This study was implemented to actively respond from the viewpoint of posture control using the drone technology.
