This experiment was carried out to investigate on the growth, yield behavior of phosphorus at different stage of growth under the different cultivating conditions in rice plants. The results obtained were as follows; 1) The phosphorous contents was increased in the direct-sowing plots of the rooting time and the early stage of tillering, while in the middle and the later stage of growth, the transplanting plots was increased. 2) In the moisture contents, the direct-sowing plots was more increased than the transplanting plot in the rooting time and the early stage of tillering, while in the later stage of growth, the transplanting plots was increased. 3) The plant height and the weight of dry matter were also increased in the direct-sowing plots of the early stage of tillering, on the other hand, after that the transplanting plots was increased. 4) In the yield of grain, the transplanting plots was increased about 15% compared with the direct-sowing plots.
In case of a semi-forcing culture for vegetable perilla, the following research results on the effect of black polyethylene mulching, the optimum sowing season, and the seedling stand improvement method were drawn. Soil temperature was higher and the emergence was faster in a black polyethylene mulching culture than in a non-mulching culture. However, the mature was late, the main stem were larger, and the seed yield, as well as the leaf yield, was greater in a mulching culture than in a non-mulching culture. Considering growth and chilling injury, the stable sowing season of vegetable perilla was judged to be the early in January. The covering materials for improvement of the seedling stand can be a non-woven fabric and hyaline polyethylene. However, the non-woven fabric seemed to be quite suitable in view of the stability and convenience of control after the emergence of perilla.

Oats are an important crop for forage production with good palatability of livestock. Compared with other winter cereals crops for forage, oats may be widely sowing, autumn (October), spring (early of March) and summer (late of August). The objectives of this study were to compare the effects of sowing dates and varieties on the growth, forage yield and feed quality. Oat were sown in 14 October and 10 March, and harvested 20 days after heading in middle region of Korea. Varieties used were the 3 winter oat cultivars with cold tolerant and 3 cultivars for summer sowing. Heading was delayed about 12 days in spring sowing than in autumn sowing and the difference among varieties was 8 days. The rate of spike and leaf above aerial parts reduced and the rate of culm increased in spring sowing than in autumn. The variety 'Donghan' was higher the rate of spike and lower the rate of culm than that of other varieties. In spring sowing than in autumn, acid detergent fiber (ADF) content was higher, and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and digestible dry matter (DDM) content was lower. In DDM content surveyed on 20 days after heading, 'Donghan' was higher in autumn sowing and 'Samhan' in spring sowing than that of other varieties. The oat variety 'Samhan', 'Donghan' and 'Chohan' were higher fresh yield in autumn than in spring, but similar dry matter yield. The variety 'Swan', 'Darkhorse' and 'Hispeed' were higher fresh and dry matter yield in spring than in autumn. The variety 'Donghan' can supplement high quality forage production in middle region at October and March because of the high-tillering and rate of spike per aerial part.
The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal sowing date for the spring sowing cultivation of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.). To determine suitable rapeseed sowing dates for spring sowing cultivation, changes in growth, flowering characteristics, and seed production were investigated in Muan, South Korea between 2019 and 2020. 'Jungmo7001' is the suitable variety for spring sowing because of its early flowering characteristics, high seed yield, and the fact that it occupies the highest cultivation area in South Korea. When the yield of 'Jungmo7001' was investigated in 2019 and 2020, the highest yields recorded were 243 kg/10a in February 28, 2019, and 294 kg/10a in February 18, 2020. As a result, the optimal rapeseed seeding period is considered to be mid-to-late February in the southern region. There was no statistically significant difference in seed crude oil content. The content of oleic acid (C18:1) decreased, but that of linoleic acid (C18:2) and of linolenic acid (C18:3) increased significantly depending on the sowing date.

Sesame is typically a temperature- and day length-sensitive plant, as its flowering is promoted under high temperature and shorter day length conditions. The experiment carried out in the present study revealed that day length influenced sesame flowering to a much greater extent than temperature. The degree of day length influence differed depending on the sesame variety. Days from sowing to flowering was negatively correlated with yield-related characteristics such as stem length, capsule number per plant, 1,000 seed weight, and seed weight per 10a. In cases where the period from sowing to flowering was longer and flowering date was later, the reproductive growth period was shorter during maturity. Analysis of the effects of temperature and day length on seed yield production revealed that temperature was a much more influential factor than day length. However, day length was more influential than temperature under low temperatures, such as 22℃. All varieties apart from Ansan were shown to be primarily influenced by temperature. Sesame varieties were grouped in view of optimal seed sowing time through principal components analysis. The Poongsung and Sungboon varieties favored early sowing under low temperatures and short day lengths. The DT45, Poongsung, 90 days, Ansan, and Sungboon varieties favored late sowing under high temperatures and long day lengths. The Yangbaek and Arum varieties could be sown both early and late.

This study was conducted at the forage experiment field of SNU, Snweon to investigate effects of sowing time and seeding rate on growth characteristics, winter survival and dry matter yield of forage rye (Secale cereale L.) as fresh-cut forage. Treatments involved 9 combinations of sowing times (September 8, 28 and October 18) and seeding rates(80, 130 and 180kg $ha^{-1}$). Plant height was not influenced by the time of sowing, but forage rye had a tendency to be taller as increasing seeding rate when sown on September 8 and October 28 and harvested in fall and spring, respectively, Winter survival was reduced by fall harvesting in the plot sown on September 8, however, total dry matter yield was increased by the fall harvesting. Average dry matter yields of 5884, 4993 and 3525kg $ha^{-1}$ were obtained when forage rye was sown on September 8, 28 and October 18, respectively. Dry matter yield was decreased as delaying the time of sowing, but a tendency toward higher yield of forage rye by increasing seeding rate was observed. Yield difference by seeding rates was markedly larger when forage rye was sown on October 18 than September 8 and 28. Based on the results of this study, it appears that the dry matter yield of forage rye could be enhanced by sowing early to late September under upland condition in the middle plain are of Korea. The seeding rates of 80 to 130 kg $ha^{-1}$ and 180kg $ha^{-1}$ would be suitable for early to mid fall and late fall sowings, respectively.

This study was conducted to investigate the kernel characteristics of sweet corn during ripening with different sowing date. Godangok and Guseulok were sown at April 10, July 10, July 20, and July 30 in 2013. Irrespective of sowing date, fresh and dry weight of 100 kernel, starch content, crude fat content, and hardness of sweet corn kernels were significantly increased according to maturation (p<0.05). But moisture content, total sugar content, crude protein content and crude ash content of sweet corn kernels were significantly decreased according to maturation (p<0.05). The changing rates of 100 kernel weight and starch content on kernels were faster at early sowing date than at late sowing date. The moisture content of sweet corn kernels was 68~69% at optimum for harvesting. The degree of sweetness on Godangok was about 1.8 and 1.4 times higher in sowing at July 20 and July 30 than in sowing at April 10. On the other hand, the degree of sweetness was similar regardless of sowing time on Guseulok. These results will be helpful to farmers for fall-harvest sweet corn cultivation and management.

The yield potential of sesame depends on genetic factor, environmental factor, genetic × environmental interaction, as well as agronomic factors such as sowing date, planting density or seed rate for sowing. The main aim of this study was to analyze the effects of different sowing dates on the yield-related traits and total seed weight of sesame. The analysis of variance revealed that different sowing dates affected sesame yield-related traits such as plant height, number of branch per plant, number of capsule per plant, 1,000-seed weight, and total seed weight. Early or late sowing date showed negative effect of yield-related sesame traits and total seed weight. Optimum sowing date for sesame in the middle region of Korean peninsula was May 10th, in which total seed yield recorded 90 kg per 10 are. Path-coefficient analysis revealed that the number of capsule per plant and plant height were major factors that affected the total seed weight of sesame across different sowing dates.

Establishment of mechanized soybean production system without herbicide is required for organic soybean production in recent. Effects of mechanized soybean planting with partial tillage between growing rye living mulch, which was sown in April or early May, on weed suppression, soybean early growth and yield were investigated with different rye sowing dates and locations in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Effect of rye living mulch on weed suppression at 40~50 days after soybean planting was high as much as 70~90% regardless of rye sowing dates. In particular, a strong suppression effect on the occurrence and growth of Echinochloa crus-galli which occupied 60~80% of total weed biomass was observed. Rye living mulch sown on April 9, of which biomass was more than that sown on April 27, inhibited soybean early growth severely and reduced soybean grain yield in 2007. However, soybean grain yield was no t reduced despite suppression of early growth of soybean plant by living mulch sown during from late April to early May compared with conventional planting. Rye sowing before late April was not proper considering tendency of weed occurrence in spring because of unfavorable changes in weed suppression, early growth and grain yield of soybean according to amount of living mulch.
