Early Wound Healing Score: a system to evaluate the early healing of periodontal soft tissue wounds

  • Purpose: Numerous indices have been proposed to analyse wound healing in oral soft tissues, but each has specific shortcomings. A new method of analysis, the Early Wound Healing Score (EHS), was evaluated in the present study. The aim was to assess more accurately early healing by primary intention of surgical incisions in periodontal soft tissues. Methods: Twenty-one patients were treated with different surgical procedures comprising 1 or 2 vertical releasing incisions as part of a surgical access flap. Twenty-four hours after surgery, early wound healing at the vertical releasing incisions was assessed using the EHS. This score assessed clinical signs of re-epithelialization (CSR), clinical signs of haemostasis (CSH), and clinical signs of inflammation (CSI). Since complete wound epithelialization was the main outcome, the CSR score was weighted to be 60% of the total final score. Accordingly, a score of 0, 3, or 6 points was possible for the assessment of CSR, whereas scores of 0, 1, or 2 points were possible for CSH and CSI. Higher values indicated better healing. Accordingly, the score for ideal early wound healing was 10. Results: Thirty vertical releasing incisions were assessed in 21 patients. At 24 hours after incision, 16 vertical releasing incisions (53.33%) received the maximum score of CSR, while 6 cases (20%) received an EHS of 10. None of the cases received 0 points. Conclusion: The EHS system may be a useful tool for assessing early wound healing in periodontal soft tissue by primary intention after surgery.

  • 본 연구는 시 도교육청 및 유치원 차원에서 유아통합교육의 행 재정 지원체제 시스템 구축을 위한 인식을 알아보는 것이었다. 이에 대한 구체적인 연구결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교원 개인의 차원, 직위별에 따른 인식의 차이에서는 법과 제도, 교육과정, 행 재정 지원, 평가 영역 등에서, 교육경력별에 따른 인식의 차이에서는 법과 제도, 교육과정, 장학 영역 등에서, 통합교육 경력별에 따른 인식의 차이에서는 법과 제도, 행 재정 지원, 평가 영역 등에서 집단 간 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유치원 기관의 차원에서, 설립별에 따른 인식의 차이에서는 법과 제도, 교육과정, 교수-학습, 행 재정 지원, 평가 영역 등에서, 규모별에 따른 차이에서는 법과 제도, 교육과정, 장학, 행 재정 지원, 평가 영역 등에서 집단 간 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

유아교사의 통일교육역량에 대한 평가척도 개발 및 타당화 연구 (Development and Validation of a Scale for the Measurement of Early Childhood Teacher's Competence in Unification Education)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and test the validity of an assessment scale for determining the competency of early childhood teachers practicing unification education. For this purpose, an evaluation scale was constructed and then tested for reliability and validity. Participants for this study included 266 early childhood teachers in the unification education field. In order to the measure reliability and validity of this scale, Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were conducted with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS. The result of this study identified four principal factors: 1) Instruction skills, 2) Evaluation, 3) Attitude, and 4) Knowledge. The results of this study supported the scale's reliability and legitimacy as a valid instrument for the evaluation of early childhood teacher's competence in unification education.

Integrated Level 1-Level 2 decommissioning probabilistic risk assessment for boiling water reactors

  • This article describes an integrated Level 1-Level 2 probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) methodology to evaluate the radiological risk during postulated accident scenarios initiated during the decommissioning phase of a typical Mark I containment boiling water reactor. The fuel damage scenarios include those initiated while the reactor is permanently shut down, defueled, and the spent fuel is located into the spent fuel storage pool. This article focuses on the integrated Level 1-Level 2 PRA aspects of the analysis, from the beginning of the accident to the radiological release into the environment. The integrated Level 1-Level 2 decommissioning PRA uses event trees and fault trees that assess the accident progression until and after fuel damage. Detailed deterministic severe accident analyses are performed to support the fault tree/event tree development and to provide source term information for the various pieces of the Level 1-Level 2 model. Source terms information is collected from accidents occurring in both the reactor pressure vessel and the spent fuel pool, including simultaneous accidents. The Level 1-Level 2 PRA model evaluates the temporal and physical changes in plant conditions including consideration of major uncertainties. The goal of this article is to provide a methodology framework to perform a decommissioning Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA), and an application to a real case study is provided to show the use of the methodology. Results will be derived from the integrated Level 1-Level 2 decommissioning PSA event tree in terms of fuel damage frequency, large release frequency, and large early release frequency, including uncertainties.

유아 영재의 판별과 역동적 평가 (Early Identification of Gifted Young Children and Dynamic assessment)

  • 유아기에 영재를 판별하여 유아 영재의 흥미와 능력에 적합한 교육 프로그램을 제공하면, 유아영재의 잠재력은 극대화될 수 있다. 유아기에는 다른 연령에 비해 특히 실제의 발달과 잠재적 발달간의 차이가 특히 많기 때문에, 혼자 해결하도록 할 때보다 적절한 교육적 개입을 해주었을 때 더 많은 잠재적 능력을 발휘할 수 있다. 유아가 가진 영재성을 사장시키지 않기 위해서는 유아의 영재성을 조기에 판별하여 그들에게 적절한 교육적 프로그램을 제공하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 역동적 평가방법을 적용한 유아 영재 판별방법을 제시하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해. 본 연구에서는 기존의 유아 영재 판별 방법들을 검토하고 이에 대한 문제점을 살펴보았다. 그런 후에 역동적 평가의 특징과 유형을 살펴보고, 마지막으로, 역동적 평가가 유아 영재를 판별하고자 할 때 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지를 탐색해 보았다. 유아기에 역동적 평가방법을 이용해 영재를 판별하면 다음과 같은 점에서 유용성이 있다. 첫째, 유아 영재의 판별에 역동적 평가방법을 사용하면 표준화 검사에 능력을 보이지 않는 잠재력이 있는 유아를 판별할 수 있다. 둘째, 역동적 평가방법은 학습에 대한 산출물보다 학습에 대한 과정을 평가할 수 있다. 셋째, 역동적 검사는 유아 영재를 조기에 발견하고 이에 적절한 교육적 처치를 할 수 있는 정보를 제공받을 수 있어 개별화교육이 가능하도록 해준다. 넷째, 역동적 평가는 진단과 교수를 연결시킴으로써 유아의 잠재력을 더욱 정확하게 측정할 수 있도록 해주며, 유아 영재들이 계속적인 성장을 할 수 있도록 교육적인 환경을 제공해 줄 수 있다.ject-orientation.   • It is desirable that implementation assessment (IA) should be carried out efficiently in order to make successful progress of Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) in watershed management. There are many difficulties in the process of the implementation assessment because of the early stage in the application of TMDL in Korea. This study reviewed the present status of IA and proposed the methodology of its improvement such as flexible application of TMDL ledger, and standardization of assessment index and criteria. The deficient time for assessment period could be corrected by the consideration of the post-procedure after the submission of IA report.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the perception, barriers, and importance of delirium assessment of intensive care unit nurses utilizing a tool for delirium assessment. Methods: The subjects were 150 intensive care unit nurses who routinely use the CAM-ICU to screen delirium. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and ranking. Results: Most intensive care unit nurses had experience of education about delirium and delirium assessment, and had assessed over once in a shift. However, a small number of nurses recognized utilizing their assessment result and the effect on higher mortality and underdiagnosed and preventable problem. The first rank of barriers was being too busy to assess patients and the second was difficulty of interpreting intubated patients. The importance of delirium assessment was considered lower than assessing catheter placement and level of pain. Conclusion: The study identified intensive care unit nurses' use of a delirium assessment tool, and the perception, barriers, and importance of delirium assessment. Furthermore, it is necessary to develop education programs to improve the early recognition of delirium by intensive care unit nurses.
