Potential Therapeutic Targets for the Primary Gallbladder Carcinoma: Estrogen Receptors

  • Gallbladder carcinoma, the most frequent malignant neoplasm of the biliary tract system, has always been considered to feature late clinical presentation and diagnosis, limited treatment options and an extremely poor prognosis. In recent years, while the incidence of gallbladder cancer has appeared to be on the increase, the available treatment methods have not greatly improved survival of the affected patients. Thus, exploring new therapeutic targets for this devastating disease is an urgent matter at present. Epidemical studies have demonstrated that the incidence of gallbladder carcinoma exhibits a distinct gender bias, affecting females two to three times more than males, pointing to crucial roles of estrogen. It is well known that estrogen acts on target tissues by binding to estrogen receptors (ERs), which are mainly divided into three subtypes, $ER{\alpha}$, $ER{\beta}$ and $ER{\gamma}$. $ER{\alpha}$ and $ER{\beta}$ appear to have overlapping but also unique even opposite biological effects. As important pathogenic mediators, ERs have been considered to relate to several kinds of tumors. In gallbladder carcinoma tissue, ERs have been shown to be positively expressed, and ERs expression levels are associated with differentiation and prognosis of this cancer. Nevertheless, the exact mechanisms of estrogen inducing growth of gallbladder carcinoma remain poorly understood. On the base of the current investigations, we deduce that estrogen participates in promotion of gallbladder carcinoma by influencing the formation of gallstones, stimulating angiogenesis, and promoting abnormal proliferation. Since ERs mediate the carcinogenic actions of estrogen in gallbladder, and therapy targeting ERs may provide new directions for gallbladder carcinoma. Therefore, it should be stressed that ERs are potential therapeutic targets for gallbladder carcinoma.

QuEChERS 전처리법과 GC-TOF/MS, ECD, NPD를 이용한 잔류농약 다성분분석 (Multi-residue Analysis of Pesticides using GC-TOF/MS, ECD, NPD with QuEChERS Sample Preparation)

  • 농수산물검사소에서는 빠르고 정확한 잔류농약검사법이 필요하므로 QuEChERS 시료 전처리법과 GC-TOF/MS(가스크로마토그래피 비행시간질량분석기와 GC-ECD(전자포획검출기), GC-NPD(질소인검출기) 기기분석을 이용하여 잔류농약 동시다성분 분석의 가능성을 살펴보았다. GC-TOF/MS에서는 138종의 농약성분을 0.3, $0.5{\mu}g/g$수준으로 상추에 처리 후 회수율 측정을 하였다. 동시다성분 회수율기준 70~130% 범위에 들어오고 표준편차 20% 이내인 농약은 61종이었다. GC-ECD, NPD에서는 145종의 농약성분 중 71종이 적정한 회수율 범위 내에 들었다. 이러한 결과는 일부 농약성분에 대해 QuEChERS 시료 전처리법과 GC-TOF/MS, GC-ECD, NPD를을 이용한 잔류농약 동시다성분분석 방법 적용 가능성을 보여주었다.

AODV 기반의 MANET에서 적응적인 확장 링 검색을 이용한 효율적인 경로 탐색 (An Efficient Route Discovery using Adaptive Expanding Ring Search in AODV-based MANETs)

  • Mobile Ad hoc Networks(MANET)는 구조 특성상 경로 구성을 위해 필요할 때마다 경로 구성 메시지를 브로드캐스팅하여 경로 정보를 얻는 것이 경로 정보를 계속 유지하고 있는 것보다 효율적이다. MANET의 라우팅 프로토콜 중 하나인 AODV에서 소스 노드는 목적지 노드를 효율적으로 찾기 위해 Expanding Ring Search(ERS) 알고리즘을 사용한다. ERS 알고리즘은 네트워크의 혼잡을 줄이기 위해 네트워크 전체를 대상으로 RREQ 메시지를 브로드캐스팅하는 것이 아니라 소스 노드는 목적지 노드로부터 타이머가 만료될 때까지 RREP 메시지가 도착하지 않는다면 TTL 값을 점차적으로 늘이면서 RREQ 메시지를 브로드캐스팅한다. 기존의 AODV는 고정적인 NODE_TRAVERSAL_TIME 값을 사용하기 때문에 목적지 노드를 찾는데 많은 비용이 소요된다. 본 논문은 기존의 AODV 프로토콜에 추가되는 메시지 없이 헬로우(HELLO) 메시지를 이용하여 이웃 노드들과의 메시지 지연시간을 측정한다. 측정된 메시지 지연시간을 NODE_TRAVERSAL_TIME에 적용하여 최적의 NET_TRAVERSAL_TIME을 구하는 적응적인 확장 링 검색(AERS : Adaptive ERS) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 AERS를 이용하여 최적의 NET_TRAVERSAL_TIME을 구하고, 이를 이용하여 불필요한 메시지 발생을 억제함으로써 네트워크 성능을 향상 시킬 수 있다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안한 방식의 효율성을 입증한다.

QuEChERS 전처리와 GC-MS/MS를 활용한 생약의 잔류농약 분석 가능성 연구 (Analysis of Pesticides in Herbal Medicine by QuEChERS and GC-MS/MS)

  • The analysis method for qualitative analysis of the screening method that can be performed prior to the quantitative analysis of individual pesticide was reviewed in order to meet the safety standards that are being strengthened in the field of pesticide residue testing of herbal medicines. Among the residual pesticides presented in the Korean Pharmacopoeia, 56 pesticides, excluding 15 pesticides that need to be individually analyzed, were selected for analysis using QuEChERS preprocessing and GC-MS/MS, which are used in the existing agricultural products field. For each pesticide, the detection limit level of 0.001-0.005 mg/kg and the quantitative limit level of 0.002-0.017 mg/kg were confirmed. In the recovery test in which the standard was treated at a concentration of 0.02 mg/kg, it was confirmed that the proportion of pesticides satisfying the recovery of 70-120% was 85.7-96.4% for each herbal medicine, so it was confirmed that it was a level that could be reviewed by the screening method.

Grounding Line Change of Ronne Ice Shelf, West Antarctica, from 1996 to 2015 Observed by using DDInSAR

  • Grounding line of a glacier or ice shelf where ice bottom meets the ocean is sensitive to changes in the polar environment. Recent rapid changes of grounding lines have been observed especially in southwestern Antarctica due to global warming. In this study, ERS-1/2 and Sentinel-1A Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image were interferometrically acquired in 1996 and 2015, respectively, to monitor the movement of the grounding line in the western part of Ronne Ice Shelf near the Antarctic peninsula. Double-Differential Interferometric SAR (DDInSAR) technique was applied to remove gravitational flow signal to detect grounding line from the interferometric phase due to the vertical displacement of the tide. The result showed that ERS-1/2 grounding lines are almost consistent with those from Rignot et al. (2011) which used the similar dataset, confirming the credibility of the data processing. The comparison of ERS-1/2 and Sentinle-1A DDInSAR images showed a grounding line retreat of $1.0{\pm}0.1km$ from 1996 to 2015. It is also proved that the grounding lines based on the 2004 MODIS Mosaic of Antarctica (MOA) images and digital elevation model searching for ice plain near coastal area (Scambos et al., 2017), is not accurate enough especially where there is a ice plain with no tidal motion.

무선센서네트워크에서 저-재전송율을 위한 효율적인 ERS 알고리즘 (An Effective ERS Algorithm for Low-Retransmission in Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 최근 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜은 무선센서네트워크에서 노드 간에 데이터 전송방식을 추구하므로 테이블구동방식 중 가장 널리 사용되고 있다. AODV 라우팅 프로토콜은 목적지노드가 멀리 있거나 없는 경우엔 목적지노드를 찾기 위한 라우팅 패킷이 급격하게 증가하고 이로 인해 네트워크의 성능이 크게 저하된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 불필요한 RREQ 메시지를 제어하는 ERS(expanding ring search)방법을 사용한다. 그러나 ERS 방법은 유선 멀티캐스팅을 기본으로 하기 때문에 무선네트워크환경의 NTT(node traversal time)를 고려하지 않았다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이동 무선 센서 노드들이 불규칙적으로 이동하는 무선센서네트워크에서 목적지 노드로부터 소스노드까지 전송되는 RREP의 소요시간, 노드간의 거리, 에너지량을 고려하여 효율적인 NTT 알고리즘을 제안한다.

Trifluralin in aquatic products: QuEChERS and Gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for trace amount detection

  • In the present study, an analytical method was proposed for detecting trifluralin in aquatic products at trace concentrations. The method employed QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) and gas chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) as the sample preparation and measurement, respectively. The effect of the aqueous phase volume used in the QuEChERS was demonstrated, and the ratio of 10:10 (mL) between water and acetonitrile phase was used for 5 g of sample. Besides, dSPE using C18 and primary-secondary amine (PSA) was applied to remove the potential interferences from the food matrices, indicating no remarkable analyte loss. The linear range was built up from 0.50 ㎍ L-1 to 3.0 ㎍ L-1 (R2 = 0.9993). Other criteria, i.e., repeatability (RSDr = 0.86-1.96 %), reproducibility (RSDR = 1.09-2.01 %), and recovery (over 90 %), were in accordance with Appendix F of AOAC (2016) for method performance. Although no trifluralin was detected for the commercial samples (fish, shrimp, and breaded shrimp), the spiked samples performed favorable recoveries and precision.

COASTLINE DETECTION USING COHERENCE MAP OF ERS TANDEM DATA

  • A coastline is the boundary between land and ocean masses. Knowledge of coastline is essential for autonomous navigation, geographical exploration, coastal erosion monitoring and modelling, water line change, etc. Many methods have been researched to extract coastlines from the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optic images. Most methods were based on the intensity contrast between land and sea regions. However, in these methods, a coastline detection task was very difficult because of insufficient intensity contrast and the ambiguity in distinguishing coastline from other object line. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for the delineation of coastline using interferometric coherence values estimated from ERS tandem pair. The proposed method uses the facts that a tandem pair of ERS is acquired from a time interval of an accurate day and that the coherent and incoherent values in coherence map are land and water, respectively. The coherence map was generated from ERS tandem pair, filtered by MAP filter, and divided into land and water by the determination of threshold value that is based on the bimodality of the histogram. Finally, a coastline was detected by delineating the boundary pixels. There was a good visual match between the detected coastline and the manually contoured line. The interferometric coherence map will be helpful to identify land and water regions easily, and can be used to many applications that are related with a coastline.

소지방 중 잔류농약분석을 위한 액-액분배법과 modified QuEChERS법 비교 (Comparison between the liquid-liquid partition method and modified QuEChERS method for the analysis of pesticide residues in beef fat)

  • This article described the comparison of a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) sample preparation and the classical method established by National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (NVRQS) for the determination of pesticide residues in livestock products using GC-tandem mass spectrometry. The classical method by NVRQS used liquid-liquid partioning followed by evaporizing. The modified QuEChERS entailed extraction of 2 g sample with 15 ml acetonitrile containing 1% acetic acid followed by addition of 6 g anhydrous magnesium sulfate and 1.5 g sodium acetate. After centrifugation, 6 ml of the extract underwent a cleanup step (in a technique known as column-based solid phase extraction) using 400 mg each of $C_{18}$ and primary secondary amine sorbents plus 1,200 mg magnesium sulfate. The quantitation of individual pesticides by both methods was based on tissue standard calibration curves with a correlation coefficient in excess of 0.98 for the 24 pesticides. The detection limits by the classical method were ranged 1.3~5.0 ${\mu}g$/kg, with mean recoveries between 76.2% and 114.3% except aldrin (59.3%) and deltamethrin (63.6%). The detection limits by modified QuEChERS were ranged 0.3~6.2 ${\mu}g$/kg, with mean recoveries between 68.0% and 114.3% except dimethipin (152.6%), chlorfenvinphos (138.1%), 4,4-DDT (61.5%), aldrin (60.4%) and chinomethionate (30.3%).

ERS-1 InSAR를 이용한 빙하 이동 속도 관측 (Estimation of Ice-Sheet Motion Using ERS-1 Inteferometric SAR)

  • 본 연구에서는 Greenland의 Sondrestrom 지역에 존재하는 빙하의 운동을 관측하기 위해 두 장의 ERS-1 SAR 영상을 이용한 SAU Interferometry(InSAR) 기법을 적용하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 지역은 영상 좌편의 암석 지역과 영상 우편의 빙하 지역으로 구성되어 있기 때문에 복잡한 위상차를 보이며, 두 지역의 경계선 지역에서는 자료의 상관도(coherence)가 떨어지기 때문에 절대위상 복원(phase unwrapping) 수행시 시작점(seed point) 위치의 선정이 매우 중요한 사항이다. 또한 대상 지역에 대한 정확한 기준점의 확보가 어렵기 때문에 기선길이(baseline) 추정시 대상지역의 수치고도모형을 이용하여 많은 수의 기준점을 추출하여 기선길이를 추정하였다. 그 결과로 위성의 경사거리 방향에 대한 빙하의 속도 성분을 추출할 수 있었다.
