Influence of IS Planning and Change Management on ERP Implementation Success

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is one of key information technology to shape doing business. ERP adoption characteristics like IS planning and change management before ERP implementation are rising in importance, because of gaining competitive advantage. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the characteristics of ERP adoption on ERP implementation success. From previous researches on ERP adoption and implementation, two characteristics of ERP adoption such as IS planning and change management, and 2 dependent variables such as process innovation and business performance, are identified. From data collection processes, 122 samples are collected. The results of hypothesis testing show that organizations with IS plan have higher implementation performance than organizations without IS plan. Also, organizations with the process of change management have higher implementation performance than organizations without the process of change management. Also, The interaction effect between IS planning and change management shows bigger impact in ERP implementation success.

  • Recently, many companies want to accept and operate ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system in their fields ERP does not only include business, but also include finance, account, trade, personnel and BPR(Business Process Reengineering). Especially, it is necessary to have ERP system for companies which have lots of external business such as trade and communication sector. And then, in this paper, I will think about OLTP (On-Line Transaction Processing) system for operating ERP system and improve its defects that can operate more effective sales, circulation, demand plan. But it is regrettable that I can not make a comparative analysis with other systems because the ERP system is still on the introductory stage for the company studies and the benefits have not been realized yet. Another limitation of this research is its narrow scope of study in which only the raw material inventory system for a single company is covered. In the future, however, ERP system would be adopted by many corporations, which would help us to launch a comparative study on the results of ERP system implementation as a future direction of research.

  • Organizations in some industries are still hesitant to adopt the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system due to its high risk of failures. This study examined how industry classification affects the successful implementation of the ERP system. To achieve this goal, we reinvestigated the existing ERP Success Model that was developed by Chung with the data from various industry sectors, since Chung validated the model only in the engineering and construction industries. In order to test to see if the Chung model can be applicable outside the engineering and construction industries, the relationships between the ERP success indicators and the critical success factors in the Chung model and those in the sample data collected from ten different industry sectors were compared and investigated. The ten industry sectors were selected based on the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS). We found that the impact of success factors on the success of implementing an ERP system varied across industry sectors. This means that the success of ERP system implementation can be industry-specific. Thus, industry classification should be considered as another factor to help IT decision makers or top-management avoid ERP system failures when they plan to implement a new ERP system.

In modern society, the manufacture field faces on variable chances of Environment. For this situation, the application of Information technique is one of the main point maintain competitive power. The company should chose a proper method for their future and build Unified Information System on its suitable situation. Nowadays, Adjustment and application of technical method for Internet/Intranet and raised and more advanced Extranet gains its force at the moment. The Unification of ERP and POP system under the distributed environment like this will have a huge influence to us. In this subject, I will think about POP system for operating EPR system and improve its defects that can operate more effective sales, circulation, demand plan. Also, I suggest a proper POP system can handle seperated resources in each part of factory for a plan of shot period, order operating, factory inventory, process control.

  • As more organizations undertake IT-enabled business process reengineering(BPR), IT-enabled BPR projects become a major concern. Especially, one of IT, Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) is recognized as a revolution solution. But the success cases of ERP project are rarely reported. In this study, ERP implementation is defined as a IS implementation project based on BPR concepts To explore the issues of implementing ERP systems, a company implementing ERP successfully in Korea is selected. The research framework consists of four components: 1) strategic plan dimension , 2) organizational environment dimension, 3) implementation process dimension, and 4) IT dimension. On this framework, to implement ERP systems successfully, the analysis of the results clearly suggests appropriate planning, top management support, change management, appropriate methodology , ERP specialist commitment, management of standard process and master data, and the extent of IT localization.

  • The company cannot optimize its computing environment just with individual solutions such as ERP(enterprise resource planning), SCM(supply chain management), CRM(customer relationship management), and KM(knowledge management). EAI(enterprise application integration) has emerged as an alternative that can optimize computing environment of the company through integrating such solutions and systems of distributed computing and mainframe environment. This paper reports the case study of Deakyo Co. in successfully implementing EAI. It describes project goal, project organization, project plan, the implemented EAI configuration and its features, the EAI effectiveness to the firm, and the critical success factors of the EAI project. This case study is thought to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out EAI project of the company and to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of EAI project methodology.

  • Presented in this paper is the development of an product cost estimation system at the product design stage. The efficient cost estimation function at the design stage is essential for the cost reduction activities through the entire product life cycle. For this purpose, it is necessary to establish a systematic working procedure, and to develop information system for managing a great deal of production and product-related data required for the cost estimation. The developed system has the capability of estimating a cost of assembly type products as well as unit-item type products. As proposed system is based on the variant approach, it can be used easily at an early design stage without the need for detail design information. Also, this system is integrated with legacy PDM (Product Data Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system for fast. accurate and easy product cost estimation. The estimated cost includes material cost, overhead cost as well as labor cost.
