To ensure safety of raw materials for military foods, hazard assessment and monitoring of residual pesticides was conducted on agricultural products consumed by 9 companies based in Gyeongin and Gangwon. Residual pesticides were analyzed for 142 different products, by applying the multi-species pesticide polycomponent analysis method. Of the 36 samples analyzed, residual pesticides were detected in 7 samples, representing a detection rate of 19.4%. One particular pesticide residue was detected in peanuts, green onions, and red pepper powder, and 20 types of pesticide residues were detected in red pepper powder used in combat foods. However, all residues were found to be below the permissible level. Moreover, the hazard assessment results for Cypermethrin, Tebuconazole and EPN showed the highest concentration among the residual pesticides detected. Since the estimated intake was less than 100% as compared to the ingestion limit, it was considered to be safe. I have suggested the edit as per my understanding. Please review for accuracy, and revise appropriately if required. This is the first pesticide Risk Assessment study encompassing military requirements. Considering the results, we expect further application research, including research on reducing hazardous materials.

Distribution characteristics of organophosphorous pesticides(OPs) in water and suspended particles were studied in Asan Bay, Korea, from June 2004 to October 2005. 28 organophosphorous pesticides could be detected in Asan Bay during this study. The most commonly and abundantly measured OPs in the surface waters were IBP (max=$6,343.7ng\;l^{-1}$). DDVP, diazionon, ethoprophos and methidathion were also observed at relatively high concentrations. Their maximum concentrations exceeded $100ng\;l^{-1}$ in almost every month. Malathion, mevinphos, ph orate and chlorfenvinphos were also detected at relatively high concentrations. Many OPs more frequently appeared in summer than in winter due to the intensive application of pesticides in summer months. The concentration of OPs generally decreased with increasing distance from the mouth of Asan Bay. This result implies progressive dilution of these pesticides in the marine environment. Measured concentrations of diazinon were well below $20,000ng\;l^{-1}$ which is a limit set by the seawater quality standard of Korea. The concentrations of malathion and parathion in the surface waters of Asan Bay did not exceed the seawater quality standard of Korea($250,000\;and\;60,000ng\;l^{-1}$ respectively). OPs adsorbed on suspended particles were also studied. DDVP, phorate, stirofos, EPN, azinphos-methyl and IBP had higher adsorption capacity onto suspended particles than other pesticides. Calculated pesticide-particle adsorption coefficient($K_d-particle$) for samples collected in Asan Bay were closely related to the reported pesticides-soil adsorption coefficient ($K_d-soil$).

Nineteen registered insecticides including 8 mixed formulations with buprofezin and 11 single formulations which is not including buprofezin were evaluated by spray application for their toxicity against adult and nymph of citrus mealybug, Planococcus citri. Five mixed formulations with buprofezin such as buprofezin 15EC+acetamiprid 4EC, buprofezin 10SC+clothianidin 3SC, buprofezin 20WP+dinotefuran 15WP, buprofezin 20SC+thiacloprid 5SC, and buprofezin 20SC+thiamethoxam 3.3SC showed high insecticidal activity (>93%) against nymph and adult of P. citri. Insecticidal activities of EPN 45EC, fenitrothion 50EC and methidathion 40EC in organophosphorous group showed 90 to 93% against nymph only. In addition to, insecticidal activities of acetamiprid 8WP, clothianidin 8SC, dinotefuran 20WG and thiamethoxam 10WG in neonicotinoids group showed above 90% against nymph only. In systemic and residual effect, five mixed formulations that was already proved to have high insecticidal activity showed low toxicity with below 60% against $3^{rd}$ instar nymph of P. citri in tomato and rose under greenhouse. Control efficacy of five mixed formulations with buprofezin was above 90%, 80% and 70% at 5 days after treatment (DAT), 10 DAT and 15 DAT, respectively.
Carbaryl and seven organophosphorous pesticides were analyzed simultaneously using on-line solid phase extraction (on-line SPE) coupled with liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). The target pesticides are Carbaryl, Methyl demeton, Fenitrothion, Malathion, Parathion, Phenthoate, Diazinon, and EPN. This method includes the direct injection of $500{\mu}L$ in the water sample, a 15 min separation period using a rapid resolution liquid chromatography system with on-line SPE, and detection through electrospray ionization (ESI) positive mode. The percentage of recovery of all pesticides ranged from 85.3 % to 100 %. This method showed an accuracy of ${\geq}90.0%$, possessing limits of detection and quantification within 0.05 to $0.28{\mu}g/L$ and 0.16 to $0.89{\mu}g/L$, respectively. The correlation coefficients (r) for the calibration curves within a range of 0.5 to $8.0{\mu}g/L$ were higher than 0.99. The evaluation results showed the efficacy of the method for all contents, and no pesticides were detected in the water quality sample.

This study established an analytical method to simultaneously determine six organophosphorous pesticides [methyldemetone-S, diazinon, fenitrothion, parathion, phentoate, and O-ethyl O-(4-nitrophenyl) phenylphosphonothioate (EPN)] and carbaryl in water using a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) system coupled with on-line micro extraction by packed sorbent (MEPS) and programmed temperature vaporizer (PTV) injector. Polystyrene divinylbenzene (PDVB) was used as a sorbent of MEPS. The effects of elution solvents, pH, elution volume and draw-eject cycles of samples on sample pretreatment process were investigated. Also, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and the recovery of the pesticides in environmental samples were evaluated. The elution was performed using $30{\mu}L$ of a mixed solvent (acetone : dichloromethane = 80 : 20 (v/v)). Sample pretreatment processes were optimized with seven cycles of draw-eject of sample (1 mL) spiking an internal standard and sulfuric acid. At lower pH, the analytical sensitivity of diazinon decreased, but that of carbaryl increased. The method detection limit and the limit of quantification for this method were 0.02~0.18 and $0.08{\sim}0.59{\mu}g/L$, respectively. The method precision and accuracy were 1.5~11.5% and 83.3~129.8%, respectively, at concentrations of $0.5{\sim}5.0{\mu}g/L$. The recovery rates for all the pesticides except carbaryl in various environmental samples ranged 75.7~129.3%. The recovery rate of carbaryl in effluent sample was over 200% whereas carbaryl in drinking water, groundwater, and river water were in the acceptable range.
Life history and control methods of Aphanostigma iakusuiense Kishida were studied during April to November, 1974, in the Naju pear orchard area, Cholla Namdo. The results are summarized as follows: 1. More than $60\%$ of wintering eggs were found at the height of 1.5 to 2.0m from the soil surface, with approximately $10\%$ at 0.5 to 1.5m and 1.5 to 2.5m respectively. 2. There was little difference in the size of egg masses and hatching ratio $(12.7-13.7\%)$ between the varieties of host trees, Mansamkil and Kooksoo. 3. Hatching was not observed until April 6, but hatches of $12.8\%$ on April 13 and $90.6\%$ on May 4 were found. 4. During the hatching season in early spring, 8 chemicals were applied to test effectiveness of control. C8514, Metasystox, Acar 338, and Parathion were more effective than either Sevin or Malix for control of this insect. 5. Highest populations of pear phylloxera ocurred from August 20 to September 20 at which time levels of eggs and larvae were simillar in abundance. 6. In tests for control of this insect after in paper bags, DDVP, Loxon, C8514, Sevin, and Binapacryl were more effective than either EPN or Otran. 7. Predacious mite, Protolaelape pygmaeus Miller, and several species of lady beetles (Coccinellidae) preying on this insect as natural enemies were collected. The predation ratio of mites varied according to region: that is 0.77 to $18.6\%$ in Bia Orchard; $7.88-48.7\%$ in Noan Orchard and almost none in Youngsanoo Orchard. 8. The varietal difference in fruit damage by this insect was in the order of Choseng Chuck, Kooksoo, followed by Sin Ko, Mansamkil, Keumchon Choo, and Changsimrang.

The biological control potential of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) can be enhanced by improved culture efficiency. Optimization of the media is a key factor for improving in vitro mass production of entomopathogenic nematodes. This study reports the effect of medium concentration. The medium is a combination of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, sats, and growth factors, on the growth of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and its symbiotic bacterium Photorhabdus liminescens. The overall optimal medium concentration for nematode recovery, hermaphrodite size, bacterial mass, infective juveniles (IJs) yield, and doubling time was 84 g/l. At this concentration rate, the doubling time of IJs production and the biomass of symbiotic bacteria was 1.6 days and 12.8 g/l, respectively. The maximum yield of $2.4{\times}{10^5}IJs/ml$ was attained within a one-generation cycle (eight days). The yield coefficient was $2.8{\times}{10^6}$ IJs/g medium, and the maximum productivity was $3.1{\times}{10^7}$ IJs per day. Medium concentration affected two independent factors, recovery and hermaphrodite size, which in turn influenced the final yield.
Most medium formulations for improving culture of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) based on protein sources have used enriched media like animal feed such as dried egg yolk, lactalbumin, and liver extract, among other ingredients. Most results, however, showed unstable yields and longer production time. Many of the results do not show the detailed parameters of fermentation. Soy flour, cotton seed flour, corn gluten meal, casein powder, soytone, peptone, casein hydrolysates, and lactalbumin hydrolysate as protein sources were tested to determine the source to support optimal symbiotic bacteria and nematode growth. The protein hydrolysates selected did not improve bacterial cell mass compared with the yeast extract control, but soy flour was the best, showing 75.1% recovery and producing more bacterial cell number ($1.4{\times}10^9$/ml) than all other sources. The highest yield ($1.85{\times}10^5$ IJs/ml), yield coefficient ($1.67{\times}10^6$ IJs/g medium), and productivity ($1.32{\times}10^7$ IJs/l/day) were also achieved at enriched medium with soybean protein.

The possibility of simultaneous analysis of 24 pesticides out of 30 residual pesticides which are subjected to test in the golf courses was examined. The utility of the simultaneous analysis of multi-residue pesticides was evaluated by recovery test through a standard addition method of pesticides in water, soil, and lawn grass. The experimental results of the recovery rates for individual pesticides are as follows : The number of pesticide of which average recovery was over 70% regardless of medium was 16 pesticides. These pesticides were composed of 8 organophosphorus pesticides(Chlorpyrifos, Chlorpyrifos-methyl, Diazinon, EPN, Fenitrothion, Phenthoate, Phosalone, and Toclofos-methyl). 4 organochlorinated pesticides(Daconil, Captan, Endosulfan, and Tetradifon), 2 pyrethroid pesticides(Fepropathrin, Lambda-cyhalothrin) and 2 other pesticides(Bromopropylate, Pendimethalin). On the other hand, in case of Dicofol, average recovery by medium was over 70% for water and lawn grass but was only 53.3% for soil. Therefore, the simultaneous analytical method applied in this experiment is not appropriate for analysis of Dicofol in soil. Furthermore, among 7 pesticides, 2 pesticides(Amitraz and Pyraclofos) showed that theirs average recovery rates deviated from criteria(70~130%) at almost all media, while 5 pesticides(Bensulide, Deltamethrin, Iprodione, Phosphamidon and Tralomethlin) were not detected from all media by selected GC detector(NPD or ECD).
Analysis of residual pesticides in herbal drugs was performed by GC-ECD and GC-MS. Especially, selected ion monitoring(SIM) technique was applied to increase the GC/MS sensitivity. Analysis of residual pesticides was determined sensitivity and selectively without any internal standard by setting the SIM technique to their characteristic fragments for quantitation ion and confirmation ion. The combination of two detector, GC-ECD and MS-SIM technique, is abailable for determining a multiclass residual pesticides in herbal drugs. The average recoveries through the method were $65.9%{\sim}99.7%$ in herbal drugs. The data of gas chromatographic analysis was compared with the limits of residual pesticides in herbal drugs and agricultural foods. 4. 4-DDT was detected above the limits to the residual pesticides in herbal drugs. Diazinon and EPN were detected, but the limits of residual pesticides were less than that of agricultural foods.
