This paper proposed new approach for the information gifted discrimination test usign EPL. We tried to distinguish high level thinking in the information gifted through test of this study. We designed discrimination test by the features of EPL and developed testing item tool like single-sprit and multi-sprite. These items are divided into adding block, changing the block order, modifying value io block, and changing a block. We designed this testing tool that the elementary students can solve items without an experience on learning programming language. We expect the testing tool io proposed this study will help to discriminate the information gifted effectively.
This study attempted to examine the effects of SW education using EPL and coding robots on computing thinking and problem-solving skills among various teaching and learning methods of software education. To this end, a survey was conducted on 350 students from middle schools A and B in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, and the difference in mean was analyzed through t-verification and one-way analysis of variance in order to investigate the relationship between variables. Based on the research results obtained through this, we will identify the effects, strengths, and weaknesses of SW education using EPL and coding robots, provide basic data and information for efficient teaching and learning methods of SW education, and further suggest better directions in terms of academic and practical aspects.

In current knowledge-based society, development and growth of IT industry is essential for a nation's competitiveness since economic power depends on IT industry in many countries. Thus, it is necessary to identify and foster gifted children in IT as early as possible. The purpose of this paper is to identify if EPL is proper language for testing programming ability of the gifted children in IT. Scratch language is selected as an EPL. For the experiment, gifted children from a gifted institution at some university are selected and their programming test scores are gathered and analyzed. Based on statistical analysis, the conclusion is that Scratch language is not proper for testing programming ability for the gifted children in IT. This result will be helpful for selection examinations, curriculum for gifted education in IT.

This study approached EPL learning with deductive teaching and learning methods and inductive teaching and learning methods which are grammar teaching and learning methods. In the entry site, lectures provided for elementary school students in grades 5 to 6 were set as deductive learning courses. Based on this, inductive learning process was developed and each learning process was composed of 12 periods. After conducting the research, EPL utilization evaluation, learning satisfaction and immersion test were conducted between the two groups. It was difficult to obtain statistically meaningful results between the two groups. However, in the three tests, the mean value of groups using inductive teaching and learning methods was high. If we construct a long-term learning process and conduct research, we think that statistically meaningful results are produced between the two groups.

In this paper, it is practically difficult to obtain programming language education without having an algorithmic thinking ability, computing thinking ability, and problem solving ability of students with relatively low basic education. The results showed that students who took program language education in parallel with the EPL(Educational Programing Language), Scratch, compared to without using Scratch found to be helpful in improving their programming amd computing thinking ability, and problem-solving abilities as well as their satisfaction. This not only gave students confidence in their hard-thinking programming practices, but also helped prevent them from falling out of the middle.

In this paper, we have selected traveling algorithms of Line-Tracer as the focused learning elements with the PBL-based programming instruction method. Line-Tracer traveling algorithm programming has been simulated using the Scratch EPL. Development of robot web courseware such as Line-Tracer can create an effective educational environment and also provide solutions for lack of environmental conditions, such as time or spatial factor restrictions and excessive expense issues; these are major obstacles to developing robot programming education. Finally, we analyzed the effects on growth of student's logical thinking and problem solving abilities by demonstrating the Scratch application courseware to the field of elementary education.

The Code Block Based Educational Programming Language(EPL) is the mainstream tool for software education for elementary students. However, Code Block Based EPL has limitations in scalability, even though there are many advantages as an introductory tool for software education. In this study, we searched the approach of SW education using Python, which is a text-based programming language actively used in real industrial field. We developed a learning program and model using Python and applied it to the sixth grade elementary school students for 10 hours. As a result, we found that the robot-based Python learning model had a significant effect on improving students' thinking skills and confirmed the applicability of text-based programming language to elementary school students.

This study proposed a new education program for the information science gifted talent using unplugged computing and EPL that are new teaching approach of computer science. We analyzed unplugged computing contents and developed the advanced educational program for the information science gifted talent. We also made up a curriculum and teaching strategy and applied the elementary information science gifted talents the developed program with unplugged computing. In order to verify an effectiveness of new program, we tested t-test and found the positive results between before and after the program as well as an experimental group and the comparison group. In interview and observation about the gifted talents, we also saw that the students evaluated an unplugged computing lesson to the positive responses. We expect the proposed unplugged computing program will give many help for teaching the information science gifted talent.
