Field Tests of DC 1500 V Stationary Energy Storage System

  • The ESS(energy storage system, here after) for a DC 1500V was developed in 2009. A ESS was installed on the track of Daejeon HRT in 2010. The advantage of the ESS is that it can save the energy and plus stable the catenary voltage. This paper presents the energy saved by the ESS in Daedong substation. When the ESS is on/off, the field tests are performed.

  • Urban transit operation corporations perform repetitive work to investigate the EMU, electric multiple unit, by some fixed maintenance cycle. The quality of maintenance work usually depends on workers' know-how. Though some information to support the maintenance work is digitalized and provided to workers, it is not great help to them because of its non systematic structure. The information includes drawings, manuals, work results, work history, fault history, etc. The maintenance workers want to access the information anytime anywhere, and make an effect to promote the efficiency of maintenance for EMU. But it is difficult to achieve that without some structured information system which is able to use in work area. So we develop maintenance information system for EMU for about 4 years from 2002 to 2005. In this paper we present the configuration and characteristics of this system, and the results of the evaluation test. We install the system in two depots, Changdong and Jichuk, belonged to SeoulMetro to evaluate its efficiency and estimate its economic benefits.

  • From '1994 Gwacheon accident of the Electric Multiple Unit(EMU)' till '2004 Seoul subway 2 lines Guui station accident', the accident is increasing at day and the service demand of the citizen is coming to be various. But it does not deal with technical or operation side demands. There is a possibility of saying that the accident of the EMU or deficit operation is caused by the RCM. The EMU where the efficiency is good though does the time passes and it becomes old anger and does not display that efficiency not only the cause of formation accident does becomes. The breakdown about under occurring before getting up an accident, appropriately shifting the parts is to a maintenance very the pending question fact which is important is a possibility of doing. From there is by an EMU, RCM in reliability base grudge is a tool of confirms an improvement point and the place where it judges. From the research which it sees will present about technical development plan of RCM.

  • Ecodesign is specific process integrating environmental aspect as a cost, quality, function into the stage of product development. Ecodesign is one of importance elements for sustainable development, a lot of company and institute have been tried to integrate environmental aspect into the stage of product development. But there's almost no endeavor to improve environmental aspects of electrical moto unit in korea. In this research, LCA was conducted for identifying environmental key issue of EMU. Also EQFD was conducted for analysis of stakeholder requirements. Combining each results from LCA and EQFD by using environmental strategy. Advancing to measure, task from environmental strategy. Finally, EMU was redesigned and we took ecology profile of redesigned EMU including eco-efficiency.

  • The object of the study is to propose the control method of FSB(full service brake) for the standard EMU. Recently, the variable control function was applied to train by introducing the TCMS. When the vehicle in the train fails, the emergency brake of the train should be automatically operated. In case of VVVF EMU operated by the TCMS, the FSB is applied to the train for safety instead of emergency brake. When the FSB is applied to train regardless of its weight and the numbers, the train safety operation may not be obstained. Therefore, the FSB force which considers its weight and numbers should be applied to the train. This paper describes the blending brake control for standard EMU. The control algorithm of the FSB is proposed and its simulation was carried out by using MATLAB.

  • The development goals of the next generation EMU are to improve the system maintainability, transportation capacity, reliability, passenger service and energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose a measurement scheme for the development goals of the next generation Electric Multiple Unit(EMU). To achieve that, we drew meaningful characteristics for each development goal, which mainly affect effectiveness and performance of vehicle system. Finally, the measurement scheme for the development is obtained by using the characteristics, which could be a numerical values such as maximum velocity, acceleration of the vehicle and so on or subjective values such as a results of surveys from passengers and so on. We expect the proposed measurement scheme will be used to measure the development goals of other similar system as well as the next generation EMU.

간략화된 전과정 평가를 이용한 전동차 대차의 환경영향 진단 (Evaluation of environmental impacts for the bogie of electric motor unit(EMU) using simplified life cycle assessment(S-LCA))

  • In this study, the environmental impacts of a bogie in the electric motor unit(EMU) were evaluated quantitatively using simplified life cycle assessment(S_LCA). Target was the bogie and life cycle inventory(LCI) database for the bogie was established. The software used for simplified LCA was PASS. Environmental impacts with the parts of the bogie were dependent on their weight significantly. Among impact categories, abiotic resource depletion(ARD) and global warming(GW) were shown dominantly. Global warming was occurred mainly due to the emission of CO₂released from energy consumption and abiotic resource depletion was caused mostly by the consumption of iron ore for the manufacturing of steel. Therefore, the environmental impacts of the bogie could be reduced by the light-weighting of EMU and the improvement of energy efficiency.

  • The Objective of advanced EMU Project is development of new technologies, that can resolve the system problems of conventional EMU, for reducing vehicle maintenance, improving passenger's service using IT and providing environmental friendly. As a concept of advanced EMU, We will develop the DDM with individual driving wheel for reducing of maintenance cost and full-electric braking system without pneumatic braking, and a new bogie for loadable DDM, and pre-diagnosis system which informs possible system error, and decentralization of vehicle control. To improve transport reliability, and energy storage system for saving energy, and fallen passenger detection system for improving passenger's safety at the platform.

  • In many countries such as Japan, France and so on, the number of double-deck trains has been dramatically increased for the purpose of public traffic. Several researchers have performed feasiblilty studies related to the operations of double deck rolling stock vehicles in Korea since 2001. In recent years, rolling stock vehicles are required to have light weight to save energy consumption and maintenance costs. For these reasons, the standard EMU vehicle developed by KRRI and Kwan-Ju EMU(Electric Multi Unit) are made of aluminum extruded panels. The concept model of a double-deck rolling stock vehicle investigated in this study is also designed to use AEP(Aluminum Extruded Panel). In this paper, the methods related to the structural strength improvements of the car body are proposed through careful modifications of thicknesses and shapes of AEP.

  • 본 논문에서는 이질적인 수신단말들에 효율적인 스테레오 영상전송을 위한 시공간적 계위를 이용한 부호화 방법을 제시하였으며, 각각의 시간적, 공간적 계위의 오버헤드를 분석하였다. 제시된 부호화기는 유연성있는 스테레오 비디오 서비스를 위해서 하나의 영상에 각각 시간적, 공간적으로 확장 가능한 추가적인 비트열을 정의하였다. 실험을 통하여 공간적 계위 오버헤드는 시간적 계위 오버헤드에 비해 상대적으로 크지만, 스테레오 부호화기의 양안차 예측으로 인해 많이 감소됨을 보였다. 제안된 스테레오 비디오 부호화기는 다양한 디스플레이 장치 및 네트워크 환경을 가지는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경을 위한 효율적인 스테레오 비디오 전송 서비스에 활용될 것으로 기대된다.
