The Perception Survey for Personal Health Information Protection of First Aid Training Courses Students - Focused of EMT students and Nursing students - (응급처치 교육과정을 배우는 학생들의 개인의료정보 보호에 대한 인식도 조사 - 응급구조과와 간호과 학생을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose. The checked of perception for the protection of personal medical information of EMT student and Nursing student. Methods. Nursing students and EMT students 200 questionnaires were collected and Frequency analysis, Chi-square test, one-way ANOVA was performed for using the Windows SPSS(ver. 12.0). Results. Most of the subjects were aware of the protection law of personal information and Infringement of the privacy of personal information will be exposed. also, Education is needed privacy(EMT students $3.84{\pm}0.96$, Nursing students $3.73{\pm}0.99$). EMT($3.99{\pm}1.00$) and Nursing($4.07{\pm}0.94$)students due to exposure to both the patient's personal information privacy was violated would get recognized. Exposure to the computerization of information privacy will be exploited in other agencies(EMT students $3.78{\pm}0.88$, Nursing students $3.95{\pm}0.94$) was called. Conclusions. For the protection of personal health information, education needs to be expanded.

Factors influencing the image about emergency medical technology jobs in paramedic students (응급구조(학)과 학생의 응급구조사 직업이미지에 미치는 영향 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the image about emergency medical technology (EMT) jobs and to identify factors influencing the image of EMT jobs among students of this department. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was administered to 532 paramedic students in the cities of D, G, and J between May 28 and June 19, 2013. Data were analyzed by using the SPSS version 21.0 program. Results: The image about EMT jobs was positively related to self-esteem. However, the image about EMT jobs was negatively related to grade and hospital practice experience. In the multiple regression analysis, the adjusted $R^2$ value was .220 (p < .001). Conclusion: The importance of enhancing the self-esteem of paramedic students should be emphasized. Further research on the image about EMT jobs in the hospital practice setting is needed.

Development of Support Programs for Online University Based on Teacher's & Learner's Competency for English Medium Teaching

  • Language Capital is one of the most important academic abilities and competencies for new era of globalization worldwide. In Europe and Asia where English is not the native language, it is necessary to encourage higher education to improve language competency from both qualitative and quantitative aspects. In so far as online university concerned, it appears of significance to prepare for globalization from the perspective of cross border education, and it needs to focus on how to design and develop English-medium teaching (EMT) or in other words English mediated instruction(EMI) for both teachers and students. In order to provide supportive programs of English-mediated class for teachers and students, the study examined and analyzed what abilities are needed for teachers based on DACUUM approach, suggesting teachers' competency as well as strategies for online- EMT. Based on literature review, DACUUM analysis, focus group interview with teachers and students who experienced online EMT, online programs supporting both teachers and students for online EMI were developed. This program expects to play roles of practical guidelines and reference for both teachers and students online in an extension of language capital improvement.

  • Purpose: This research is intended to investigate the EMT students' Knowledge, attitude and behavior and then identify the predictors of the EMT students' attitude. Method: The purpose of study was to examine EMT students' knowledge and attitude toward the elderly using a survey of 286. the instruments in this study were palmore's FAQI(1998) and the 20 item semantic differential scale developed by sanders et al. (1984). Results: The results of this study were as follows : 1. The measuring of respondents' knowledge of the elderly revealed they scored an average of 10.17(${\pm}3.30$) of the full score 25. It also said their success rate to choose the answer on the elderly was 39.59%. 2. Attitudes toward the elderly weren't significantly different EMT students. 3. EMT students educational level and religion were found to impact their attitudes toward the elderly. 4. The feelings from their previous co-living experience with the elderly were significant factors. EMT students attitudes toward the elderly had an significant effect on co-living experience and the feelings in education programs toward the elderly. Conclusion : A well-designed program is essential to change the attitudes toward elderly because The feelings in education programs for the elderly are very important. with more knowledge of the elderly, the attitudes toward the elderly is expected to be more positive. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the enough knowledge of the elderly.

An Initial Practice Experience of EMT Students in Fire Station (응급구조과학생의 첫 소방 실습 경험)

  • This study was conducted to identify an initial fire station experience of EMT students, so to better understand their' practice experience in fire station. The subjects were 28 EMT students of C department of Emergency Medical technology in C city, who were demonstrating at the fire station in C city. This study was approached by phenomenological method, collected data were analyzed by Colaizzi's method, the results were as a follows. From the protocol, 201 significant statements were organized into 93 formulated meanings. From the formulated meanings, 30 themes were identified, organized into 16 theme clusters, and then 7 categories. EMT students got experienced 'tension' in resulting from new training situation and at the field practice, 'comport and gratitude', in feeling of identity and a bond sympathy with senior EMT, in training environment and heartfelt care, 'stress' from lack of knowledge and skill, difficulties in field practice for 24 hours, in dealing with making interpersonal relationship with patient and staffs and from the insufficiency of instruction, 'confidence feeling' from the participation of field treatment, in improving of learning, in self-esteem of EMT job, 'confusing feeling' of conflict of the path in work, 'disappointment and doubt' by the discrepancy between learning and actuality, and disappointment of actuality, 'feeling of lack' based on the passive attitude. The results of this study are to use as basic data for students attending fire station experience for the first time.

Factors Influencing Health Promoting Behaviors of EMT-P Students using Pender's Model (Pender 모형을 활용한 응급구조학과 학생의 건강증진행위에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to supply basic data for a health promoting program and to elevate the level of it by examining whether EMT-P Students' health promoting behaviors were related to health percetion, health concept, health status, self-esteem, perceived benefits of action, perceived barriers of action, perceived self-efficacy, activity-related affect, social support, preference, prior related behavior, and a plan for action. Method: Subjects were 116 EMT-P Students in K city. Data collection method was a structured questionnaire. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The most powerful predictor was prjor related behavior(28.8%). Altogether prjor related behavior, health status, perceived barriers of action, a plan for action were proven to account for 44.6% of health promoting behaviors of EMT-P Students. Conclusion: It suggested that prjor related behavior, health status, perceived barriers of action, a plan for action should be considered when developing a EMT-P Students' health promoting program.

Ethical Values of EMT Students (응급구조과 학생의 윤리적 가치관)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to examine the ethical values of EMT students. Method: The results below were based on the revised questionnaires, which can be applicable to EMT from the using questionnaires by Kim(2001), with a sample of 140 students consisting of 50 freshman, 40 sophomore and junior 50, conducted October 9-11, 2006. Data were analyzed using SPSS 13.0 in terms of means and standard deviation, $x^2$-test, one way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis. Results: The ethical value was deontological ethics and statistically significant difference between three groups(F=3.072, p<0.049). Means and standard deviation of freshman is $2.86{\pm}0.28$, sophomore is $2.75{\pm}0.25$, junior is $2.88{\pm}0.21$. In the area of Human life, subjects showed utilitarian disposition. But there were no statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of patient relationship, all students of three groups took on deontological ethics, but there were no statistically significant difference. In the area of task relationship, all students of three groups took on deontological ethics, but there were no statistically significant difference. In the area of coworker relationship, all students of three groups took on deontological ethics, but there were no statistically significant difference. As a results of multiple regresstion analysis, the associated factors with ethical values were second students, participation of ethical education, a firm belief of ethical values. Conclusion: This results showed that education of ethical values must instruct to EMT students. More and more, It is necessary to make an further application tool of EMT.

  • This study was conducted to identify an initial clinical experience of EMT students, so to better understand their' experience in clinical training. The subjects were 30 EMT students of C department of Emergency Medical technology in C city, who were demonstrating at the emergency room in C, T, S, W city. This study was approached by phenomenological method, collected data were analyzed by Colaizzi's method. the results were as a follows. From the protocol, significant statements were organized into 34 formulated meanings. from the formulated meanings, 21themes were identified, organized into 8 theme clusters, and then categories. EMT students got experienced 'tension resulting from new situation', 'fear in contacting with patients', 'lack of knowledge and skill', 'confidence feeling from being adapted', 'facing up to Paramedic role', 'experience of death' and 'stress'. The results of this study are to use as basic data for students attending clinical experience for the first time.

A Study on Creativity and Problem-Solving of the EMT Students (일부 응급구조과 학생들의 창의성과 문제해결능력에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the creativity and problem-solving of EMT students in Gwangju Metropolitan City. Data was collected by self-reported questionnaire from 106 EMT students from December 1, to December 20, 2008, Data collected were analyzed by technical statistics and correlation analysis using $SPSS/PC^+$ 12.0 program, The results were as follows : 1. The subjects were 49 males (46%) and 57 females (54%). 2. According to gender characteristics and creativity of the subjects, there were not significant differences(t = 1.02, p = .312). To gender characteristics and problem-solving of the subjects, male were higher grade more than female and there were significant differences(t = 2.04, p = .044). 3. According to age characteristics and creativity of the subjects, there were not significant differences(F = 8.73, p = .421). To age characteristics and problem-solving of the subjects, there were not significant differences(F = 2.314, p = .104). 4. There was positive correlation between creativity and problem-solving(r = .489, p = .000). Therefore, these findings showed that more studies needed about creativity and problem-solving on EMT students and creative problem-solving programs be started for these EMT students in order to development their creativity and problem-solving.

Passive Euthanasia Attitude of EMT Students (응급구조과 학생의 소극적 안락사에 대한 태도)

  • Purpose : This study was performed to examine the euthanasia attitude of EMT students. Method : The results were based on the revised questionnaires on euthanasia. Total 155 students filled out the questionnaires in September 17-18, 2009. Data were analyzed using SPSS 14.0 in terms of means, $x^2-test$, mean, standard deviation, and one way ANOVA. Results : The euthanasia attitude was no statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of quality of life, there were no statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of life respect, there were no statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of medical ethics, there were statistically significant difference between three groups. In the area of client right, there were no statistically significant difference between three groups. Conclusion : This results showed that education of euthanasia attitude must be instructed to EMT students. It is necessary to make a further development euthanasia program of EMT.
