  • Recently, we developed a new subway train with many cooperative companies. The main controller of the subway train is Control and Monitoring System (TCMS), so we conducted requirement analysis of TCMS considering system performance, easy maintenance and service oriented flexibility. Hence, we adopted new bus architecture and QNX as a Real-time Operating System (RTOS) and developed hardware systems. The functions of TCMS are employed into two computers, service computer and control/monitor computer, to increase on their performance and to yield easy maintenance and to satisfy customer needs. The TCMS controls and monitors control devices equipped in the train through various protocols which are implemented in hardware. In order to evaluate the performance of the system and to satisfy reliability, various experiments including EMC/ECI were performed. Now the TCMS is installed on the newly developed train and is under performance evaluation through test driving.

A study on the SEI film formation as organic solvent decomposition of lithium ion batteries and its electrochemical behavior (리튬이온전지의 유기용매분해에 따른 SEI film형성과 전기화학적 거동에 관한 연구)

  • We have produced electrolyte solution out of 1.15M LiPF$\sub$6/ EC/EMC/DEC/PC(30/55/10/5 by vol%) as a reference, and at the same time, performed basic physical property test using a single solvent of 1.15M LiPF$\sub$6/DEC, DMC, EMC and a 2 component electrolyte solution of 1.15M LiPF$\sub$6/ EC/DEC(1/2 by vo%%) and PC/DEC(1/2 by vol%). Cyclic Voltammetry Analysis showed that, compared to existing carbonate organic solvent, the addition of DEC, DMC and EMC brought the de-decomposition peak of salt anion of PF$\sub$6/$\^$-/ and the solvent at lower oxidization potential of 2.3V, 0.7V and 2.1V(vs. Li/Li$\^$+/\`). In addition, a kinetics current peak, in which intercalation of Li$\^$+/ is proceeded at 750mv, 450mv(vs. Li/Li$\^$+/), was confirmed. These findings suggest that the DEC solvent decomposition occurred at an electric potential lower than that of oxidization of existing carbonate organic solvent. Through the impedance analysis, we checked electric charge transfer resistance(R$\sub$ct/) according to the electric potential of Li$\^$+/ intercalation at 750mv(vs. Li/Li$\^$+/), which was the same as the resistance (R$\sub$f/) and cyclic voltammetry of SEI film that was formed at Reference. By doing so, we found that the significant decrease of polarization resistance(R$\sub$p/) when Reference was played a part in the formation of compact SEI layer at the initial decomposition reaction.

On the New Design of a 4-Port TEM Waveguide with a Higher Cutoff Frequency and Wider Test Volume

  • A new miniaturized 4-port waveguide generating a transverse electromagnetic wave is proposed. The waveguide presents enhanced performance of higher field uniformity in extended test volume up to an increased test frequency limit compared to that of the conventional 2-port waveguide. The advantageous features of the proposed waveguide have been obtained through a new design scheme based on effective miniaturization maintaining good impedance matching. Consequently, we can provide a more accurate electromagnetic compatibility test method, covering larger devices operating in higher frequencies, which is a marked improvement upon the conventional approaches.

  • This study examines environmental performance of the arcing measurement module according to international standards. The module assesses the collected current performance using a computer system. The module is required to assess environmental impact resulting from electromagnetic waves, shock and temperature change during train operation. The test includes testing EMI/EMC, vibration, shock and temperature cycling for interface between trains and the arcing measurement module. The module test items were determined in compliance with the standards suggested by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and Europaische Norm (EN). This study describes the method of test, test equipment operation and how to choose relevant performance standards. The analysis and test results of environmental performance for the module based on computer system are described in this study.

  • This paper presents the design of DC protection Relay for Light Rail Transit system, which is very beginning product in domestic. Protection Function characteristic, principle and I/O interface including interlock signal has been introduced. The protection algorithm and EMC characteristics have been certified by official organization and Type test report has been introduced. Up to date in domestic, the test procedure for DC Protection relay hasn't been established so the new method and test equipment based on IEC regulations are proposed. Finally the product will be proved based on field test.

  • This paper deals with the design and manufacturing technique of EQM(Engineering Qualification Model) of input multiplexer(IMUX) for the Ku-band satellite transponder. Channel dropping method by circulator chain structure is adopted for demultiplexing each channel. External equalizers are attached behind channel filters fur reduction of group delay variation and amplitude variation simultaneously. Both channel filters and equalizers adopted dual-mode technique in design f3r mass and volume reduction. Channel filters are designed to have 8-pole elliptic response and equalizers to be of 2-pole reflection type. For good temperature stability characteristics, INVAR36 material is used for channel filters and external equalizers. Vibration test, Thermal Vacuum Test, and EMC test have been performed on input multiplexer and it is shown to be suitable for Ku-band satellite transponder.

  • The DC protection and control device for the feeding system of a Light Rail Transit(LRT) system is developed. For the development, the short circuit characteristics in the system are analyzed. As a result a protection algorithm for the DC fault selective relay (50F) is newly proposed, and principles of the DC fault selective relay, Line Test Device (LTD), DC Over Current Relay (DC OCR) are introduced From the development, the specifications and codes used to be unclear have become clarified and summarized. Moreover, the methods to examine the protective characteristics and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) are established Finally, the performance and the effectiveness of the developed protective relay have been verified with the test based on IEC. For the reliability of the system, the relay has been installed and is being operated at the test track of the LRT system at Gyeong-San.

The First Korean-Made IT Convergence Electric Skateboard (한국 최초 IT융합 전기스케이트보드)

  • The rise of eco-friendly personal electric mobility is a worldwide trend and the first Korean-made IT convergence electric skateboard, Youth Board, is developed to lead the trend. Youth Board is remotely controllable using either Youth Wearable Controller or Youth App through Bluetooth v4.0 communication, can speed up to 25 km/hr, and operating time is approximately 1.5 hr. A LED display located in the front side of Youth Board deck shows three different states to a rider for user convenience: remaining battery SOC, current driving speed, and braking amount. Indoor EMC test results between Youth Board and Youth Wearable Controller and outdoor Youth Board driving test results are analyzed. In particular, driving test results show the maximum current output is about 15% lowered compared to the other competitor electric skateboard and it lessens the power burden of the motor ESC. These results show Youth Board's usefulness as a personal mobility in the sense of small, light, and inexpensive aspects.

Radiated Emission of Electrical Fast Transient/Burst Signal and Its Countermeasures (전기적으로 빠른 과도현상/버스트 신호의 복사방출과 대책)

  • In this paper, we studied about the radiated emission of EFT(Electrical Fast Transient)/Burst signal, referenced IEC-61000-4-4 of the international EMC standard and its effect on EUT(Equipment Under the Test) when EFT/Burst signal (Conducted noise) induced on a power cable to EUT. Firstly, we set up test sample by the standard and +4 kV standard signal is induced by EFT/Burst signal generator with 1 m length power cable for 1 minute. Consequently, we found not only induced EFT/Burst signal along power line, but also directly radiated emission signal from EFT/Burst signal generator (Radiated emission noise of EFT/Burst). The radiated emission signal of EFT/Burst was 30 dB which is higher than limit of CISPR 22 which is international EMC standard. Moreover, we measured the electric field strength by changing distance from maximum radiated emission point to electric field strength tester. As a result, this electric field strength was 23 V/m which is higher than international EMC standard test level(CISPR 24). Therefore, it was confirmed that the probability of malfunction may be high when radiated emission of EFT/Burst noise exists near the EUT.

Research on the Accuracy of Prediction of Radiation Emission from PCB within an Enclosure with a Rectangular Aperture (직사각형 개구면이 있는 함체 내부에 위치한 PCB로부터의 복사 방출 예측 기법의 정확도 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose the prediction algorithm of radiation emission from the PCB in an enclosure with a rectangular aperture. PCB scanner is used to measure the near field, which is substituted with an equivalent electric dipole source. Green function and Fourier transform are utilized to represent the electromagnetic fields within and outside the enclosure, respectively. The radiation emission is estimated by using the mode matching technique and surface equivalent theorem. The theoretical results are compared with the measurement to check the accuracy of our analysis.
