In this paper, we designed and fabricated the Electromagnetic(EM) wave absorber for an Electronic Toll Collection(ETC or Hi-pass) system by using Amorphous metal powder and CPE. The material properties and the absorption properties of the samples containing 50 wt.%, 60 wt.%, 70 wt.%, and 80 wt.% of Amorphous. Moreover, the EM wave absorption abilities were simulated for the different thicknesses of the EM absorbers by adopting the measured permittivity and permeability, and then the EM wave absorber was fabricated based on the simulated design values. As a result, the EM wave absorber with the composition of Amorphous metal powder : CPE = 50 : 50 wt.% with the thickness of 2.6 mm has excellent absorption ability more than 40 dB at 5.8 GHz.

In this study, EM wave absorbers based on Au coated conductive sheets were prepared, and their reflection and transmission coefficients were investigated. An Au coated conductive sheet showed the transmission loss higher than 40 dB in $1{\sim}18$ GHz. Ba ferrite EM wave absorbers with an Au coated conductive sheet showed enhanced EM wave absorption and shield to compare with Ba ferrite EM wave absorbers without conductive sheets. Proposed EM wave absorbers with conductive sheets are useful to protect EM machines from EM interference by strayfields.
EM algorithm has good convergence rate for numerical procedures which converges on very small step. In the case of proportion estimation in a mixed distribution which has very big incomplete data or of update of new data continuously, however, EM algorithm highly depends on a initial value with slow convergence ratio. There have been many studies to improve the convergence rate of EM algorithm in estimating the proportion parameter of a mixed data. Among them, dynamic EM algorithm by Hurray Jorgensen and Titterington algorithm by D. M. Titterington are proven to have better convergence rate than the standard EM algorithm, when a new data is continuously updated. In this paper we suggest dynamic EM algorithm and Titterington algorithm for the estimation of a mixed Poisson distribution and compare them in terms of convergence rate by using a simulation method.

Purpose: To determine the prognostic role of muscle area and muscle radiation attenuation in the erector spinae (ES) and multifidus (MF) muscles in patients undergoing gastrectomy. Methods: Patients with stage I-III gastric cancer undergoing gastrectomy were retrospectively enrolled in this study. Clinicopathologic characteristics were collected and analyzed. Both paraspinal muscle index of ES/MF muscles (PMIEM) and paraspinal muscle radiation attenuation in the same muscles (PMRAEM) were analyzed at the 3rd lumbar level using axial computed tomographic images. Cox regression analysis was applied to estimate overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Results: There was only a weak correlation between PMIEM and PMRAEM (r= 0.28). Multivariate Cox regression revealed that PMRAEM, but not PMIEM, was an important determinant of survival. PMRAEM along with age, tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, perineural invasion, and serum albumin level were significant determinants of both OS and DFS that constituted Model 1. Harrell's concordance index and integrated area under receiver operating characteristic curve were greater for Model 1 than for Model 2 (consisting of the same covariates as Model 1 except PMRAEM) or Model 3 (consisting of only TNM stage). Conclusion: PMRAEM, but not PMIEM, was an important determinant of survival. Because there was only a weak correlation between PMIEM and PMRAEM in this study, it was presumed that they were mutually exclusive. Model 1 consisting of age, TNM stage, perineural invasion, serum albumin level, and PMRAEM was greater than nested models (i.e., Model 2 or Model 3) in predicting survival outcomes.
Geochemical data, including Sr-Nd-Pb-Mg-Zn isotopes, reported on the late Cenozoic intraplate basaltic rocks in the Korean Peninsula (Mt. Baekdu, Jeongok, Baengnyeong Island, Pyeongtaek, Asan, Ganseong, Ulleung Island, Dok Island, and Jeju Island) are summarized to constrain their mantle source lithologies, and the nature of mantle end-members required. In the Sr-Nd isotope correlation diagram, Jeju basalts plot in the field of EM2-type oceanic island basalts (OIB), while the other basalts fall in the EM1-type OIB field. In Pb-Pb isotope space, Jeju basalts show a mixing array between Indian MORB and EM2 component, whereas the other basalts display an array with EM1 component. The Korean basalts were derived from a hybrid source of garnet lherzolite and recycled stagnant slab materials (eclogite/pyroxenite, pelagic sediments, carbonates) in the mantle transition zone. The EM1 component could be ancient (~2.0 Ga) K-hollandite-bearing pelagic sediments that were isolated for a long period in the mantle transition zone due to their neutral buoyancy. The EM2 component might have been relatively young (probably Pacific slab) and recently recycled clay-rich pelagic sediments. Eclogite and carbonates are unlikely to account for the EM components, but they are common in the mantle source of the Korean basalts.

It was compared the reduction effect of contaminants and odor according to DO change and EM (effective microorganisms) addition in maturation process of piggery slurry. The maturation processes were divided into three cases as follows: R-1 was operated at $2.5mg/{\ell}$ of DO without the addition of EM, R-2 was operated at $7.5mg/{\ell}$ of DO without the addition of EM and R-3 was operated at $2.5mg/{\ell}$ of DO with the addition of EM. The addition of EM was more effective than the increase of DO for the reduction of CODcr, $NH_3-N$ and T-N in the maturation of piggery slurry. In addition, the reducing effect of odor intensity appeared high even in the short-term maturation period in case of adding EM and one could not even smell the stimulating odor of piggery slurry.
Acceleration in integration density and speed performance of ULSI circuits require miniaturization of CMOS and interconnections as well as higher current density capabilities for transistors. A leading candidate to substitute Al-alloy is Cu, which has lower resistivity and higher melting point. So we can expect much higher electromigration resistance. In this paper, we are going to explain the major features of EM for MOCVD Cu according to variant conditions. We compared the life time and activation energy of MOCVD Cu with those of I-beam Cu and AA in the same conditions. The electromigration experiments were performed with Cu/Al/TiN multilayer. Experimental results shows that the deposition rate and electromigration characteristics of Cu thin film were improved by the Al interlayer.

Generally, a silicone rubber and a chloride polyethylene(CPE) have been used for the development of high-performance composite EM(ElectroMagnetic) wave absorber. In this study, the EM wave absorption abilities for natural lacquer which is newly suggested in this study as a binder for composite EM wave absorber were investigated to develop an improved EM wave absorber In addition, MnZn ferrite composite EM wave absorber mixed with the natural lacquer were prepared and their absorption ability was also investigated. MnZn ferrite composite EM wave absorber which employs the natural lacquer as a binder showed an improved EM wave absorption characteristics in comparison with the conventional binder such as a silicone rubber and a chloride polyethylene(CPE). The matching frequency and the absorption ability of EM wave absorber mixed with natural lacquer can be controled the change of the thickness of them.
EM tomography technique has been developed. The algorithm used the extended Born approximations for forward modeling and reconstructed a conductivity image by a smoothness constraint least squares inversion method. Observed data, the vertical components of secondary magnetic fields, were simulated with the 3-D integral equation code. The results showed that the location of anomalous body could be imaged very well, but conductivity of the body was lower than real one and the vertical resolution was much higher than the horizontal resolution.

In this research, we fabricated paint-type EM wave absorbers by using Mn-Zn, Ni-Zn, Ba, Sr Ferrite, and Sendust. To prepare the absorbers, enamel, epoxy and urethane paints were used as binders. We tested EM wave absorption of them. The band-width of EM wave absorbers coated with $Al(OH)_3$ was larger than non-coated EM wave absorbers. The fabricated EM wave absorbers show a reflection coefficient of 20 dB approximately at X-band for a 2 mm double-layer sample.
