Development of Customer Oriented Load Management Software for Savings on Utility Bills in the Electricity Market

  • For electricity markets to function in a truly competitive and efficient manner, it is not enough to focus solely on improving the efficiencies of power supply. To recognize price-responsive load as a reliability resource, the customer must be provided with price signals and an instrument to respond to these signals, preferably automatically. This paper attempts to develop the Windows-based load management system in competitive electricity markets, allowing the user to monitor the current energy consumption or billing information, to analyze the historical data, and to implement the consumption strategy for cost savings with nine possible scenarios adopted. Finally, this modeling framework will serve as a template containing the basic concepts that any load management system should address.

  • Because of the burgeoning demand of the energy, the countries are finding sustainable solutions for these emerging challenges. Demand Side Management is playing a significant role in managing the demand with an aim to support the electrical grid during the peak hours. However, advancement in controls and communication technologies, the aggregators are appearing as a third party entity in implementing demand response program. In this paper, a detailed mathematical framework is discussed in which the aggregator acts as an energy service provider between the utility and the consumers, and facilitate the consumers to actively participate in demand side management by introducing the new concept of demand reduction bidding (DRB) under constrained direct load control. Paper also presented an algorithm for the proposed framework and demonstrated the efficacy of the algorithm by considering few case studies and concluded with simulation results and discussions.

  • In spite of regular electrical safety inspection and improvement management of incongruent facilities, over 80 percent of electrical fires were generated in electrical facilities for general use, and the prevention of electrical safety accidents gets more difficult because of incomprehension on electrical safety inspection system, the increasement of non-inspection electrical facilities user, un-installation of residual current protective devices and leaving unsuitable equipments alone. This paper analyzed electrical safety inspection system of electrical facilities for general use and results of safety inspection and electrical fire statistics, and deducted the related problems. Also, improvement method of safety management of electrical facilities for general use was proposed in view of electrical safety inspection system, inspection implementation method, electrical fire statistics establishment, electrical safety consciousness and remote electrical safety inspection system.

  • The ESS is composed of Battery Package, PCS(Power Conditioning System) Package, BCU(BESS Control Unit). In Jeju smart grid test-bed, we have developed a business model by ESS power system, renewable energy, transportation, such as customers, and have demonstrated above things. We have analyzed the EMS(Energy Management System) model of KPX where manages supply and demand of domestic electrical power system. We modified and launched EMS for microgrid but the cost was expensive and the system was large size. For releasing this system from industry as a whole, it is imperative to develop PMS(Power Management System) for microgrid. However, the cost of EMS for microgrid is expensive, some systems because it is a large development of the all of the first fruits in urgent PMS(Power Management System) for microgrid to be used in industry in general. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the ESS model considering the power systems characteristics and extensibility in korea. and also we propose the PMS to manage the ESS systems.

  • A roadmap for Electrical Safety Technology has been designed based on the study that has been contributed by the specialists, professors and researchers in electral safety field. The roadmap is divided into five major fields including, for instance, the electrical fire accidents roadmap. The other four roadmaps are for electrical shock accidents, electrical facilities accidents, electrical safety policies and electrical safety culture-education, respectively. Each roadmap has a purpose, a scope, and a technical characteristic. Following the roadmaps can result in significant reduction of electrical fire accidents, electrical shock accident victims and so forth. The result can also be utilized in guiding the planning and development of the future electrical safety technology.

The On-Line Voltage Management and Control Solution of Distribution Systems Based on the Pattern Recognition Method

  • This paper proposes an on-line voltage management and control solution for a distribution system which can improve the efficiency and accuracy of existing off-line work by collecting customer voltage on-line as well as the voltage compensation capability of the existing ULTC (Under Load Tap Changer) operation and control strategy by controlling the ULTC tap based on pattern clustering and recognition. The proposed solution consists of an ADVMD (Advanced Digital Voltage Management Device), a VMS (Voltage Management Solution) and an OLDUC (On-Line Digital ULTC Controller). An on-line voltage management emulator based on multi-thread programming and the shared memory method is developed to emulate on-line voltage management and digital ULTC control methodology based on the on-line collection of the customer's voltage. In addition, using this emulator, the effectiveness of the proposed pattern clustering and recognition based ULTC control strategy is proven for the worst voltage environments for three days.

  • Recently, as the renewable distributed energy resources has increased, the variability within the electrical power distribution system has increased, so that there is a growing concern about the stable electrical power distribution system. For efficient management of future electrical power distribution system, it is necessary to improve the electrical power distribution system operation using new visualization technology. In this paper, we describe the current status of GIS introduction and related technology trends in the field of electrical power distribution, and analyze the necessity of GIS system for electrical power distribution system operation and problems to be solved when introducing GIS technology.

  • In this paper an Investigation into the actual condition of electrical equipments installation & management and check the problem of application to IEC60364 in korea construction by the electrical installation technical regulation. building equipments by the electrical installation technical regulation are almost same TT system but the electrical installation technical regulation does not contact with protective conductor(PE conductor). This study derive a problem and resent the solving method of problem causing does not fully understand of IEC60364, mix electrical installation technical regulation and IEC60364 by the actual condition of electrical equipments installation & management in korea.

  • This paper introduces a design scheme of intelligent gas valve management and service system based on Internet. This scheme adds sensor and general packet radio service (GPRS) modules to the traditional gas valve and establishes communication connection between gas valve and the server through wireless packet communication technology, which makes the traditional gas valve have the networking ability. Compared with the traditional gas valve management and service business, the method proposed in this paper is more convenient and efficient.
