Three yeast strains isolated from various sources were tested in its morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics. The results were compared with those of 35 standard yeast strains in order to study important taxonomical characteristics for yeast identification and to find out the problem of computer identifying system. Although few characteristics did not coincide with literature data, three unidentified strains were temporarily identified as Saccharomyces exiguus, Candida edax, and Candida membranaefactence. The use of computer identifying system must be accomponied with conventional identification method because of the restriction of data sources for computer system.
To assess the prevalence of various radiological reduction methods for childhood intussusception in training hospitals by means of a nationwide phone survey, and to demonstrate recent trends in this area by comparing the findings with those obtained in a survey conducted. $BaTiO_3$ system was prepared by using fabrication of classical conditioning ceramics. Polycrystalline and surface structure characteristics of the specimens were measured by X-ray diffraction, SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy) and EDAX (Energy Dispersive Spectrometer), respectively.

In conclusion, a high-Tc superconducting YBa sub(2) Cu sub(3) O sub(y) phase with zero resistance at about 90K was successfully prepared by nitrate solution method with densed micro structure. The result of the EDAX analysis on the isolated particles using the microscopic meissner effect showed that the particles were isolated at higher temperature due to the differences in O vacances rather than the differences in chemical compositions. The composition of the isolated particles were almost identical to the starting compositions on the samples prepared by the solid reaction and nitrate solution method but the Ba-rich composition were seen in the coprecipitated sample. The isolation process on Bi system was not successful due to the weak dimagnetism even though its high Tc above the liquid nitrogen temperature.
SiC whisker and $Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ short fiber reinforced AC8A, AC8B and AC8B(J) marix composites were fabricated by squeeze casting method. Preform deformation, change of reinforcement volumefraction and formation of macro-segregation in two composites were investigated by using micro Vickers hardness test, analysis of macro and micro structures with OM, SEM and EDAX. $Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ short fiber preform manufactured with 5% $SiO_2$ binder in this study was considerably deformed and cracked, nevertheless, the short fibers were distributed homogeneously in the composites. In SiC whisker reinforced composites, on the other hand, preform deforming and cracking were not occurred, however, macro segregation zone formed along the infiltration routes by interface reaction during infiltration of molten metal into the preform was observed at center-low area in the composites. The decrease of hardness in the macro segregation zone resulted from the depletion of Si and Mg atoms.
Antibiotic composite was synthesized by coprecipitation of silver nitrate into hydroxyapatite. Adsorbed amount of silver ion was examined by the variation of concentration of silver nitrate, temperature, pressure and curing time. Optimum condition for silver-hydroxyapatite adsorption could be achieved. Physical and chemical characteristic properties of synthesized silver-hydroxyapatite were tested by ICP-MS, SEM-EDAX, DSC and XRD. Antibiotic properties for gram positive staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538) and gram negative escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) were tested by shake flake method.
The coating of metal surface with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has been studied for the heat transfer enhancement of the boiling and condensation of refrigerant. The MWCNT/copper composite powder was made by the attrition ball milling, which has been coated on the copper wafer by electrostatic powder coating and sintered with electric furnace. In this paper, experiments were performed to assess the characterization and comparison of CNT before and after sinterning and the morphology changes of the CNT/Cu-coated surface. The samples were examined by the scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) and raman spectroscopy. To verify the heat transfer enhancement, boiling heat transfer tests were performed.
Sr0.6Ca0.4CuO2 single crystal has been synthesized by flux method and characterized by the single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound has the orthorhombic system and the space group is Cmcm(63), lattice parameters are a=3.4645Å, b=16.1417Å, c=3.8727Å. In the (Sr1-xCax)CuO2 compound the limit of Ca from substitution for Sr was determined by the change of bond length. For this, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDAX) and electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA) were used. From the change of Cu-O bond length as the Ca substitution, we concluded the limit of Ca incorporation Xca≒0.73.
Multilayer coatings of $WO_3$ were deposited by the sol-gel technique on microscope slide glass and ITO coated glass. These films were characterized optically, chemically, and structurally by XRD, spectro-photometry, DTA/TGA, SEM/EDAX and RBS. Uniform $WO_3$ sol-gel films were dip coated on slide glass at dipping speed of 5mm/s. This sample indicated a low near IR transmittance in optical properties as a result of coloration using a dilute HCI electrolyte as the $H^+$ion sources. Differential thermal analysis results have allowed the accurate determination of the formation temperature of the $WO_3$ crystalline phase from the gel data in the range of $380^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, consistent with crystallization temperature of sol-gel film. RBS spectrometry was performed on the uncolored $WO_3$ sol-gel film, yielding a chemical composition of $WO_3$.

Rice Husk Ash (RHA) geopolymer paste activated by sodium aluminate were characterized by X-ray diffractogram (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersion X-Ray analysis (EDAX)and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Five series of RHA geopolymer specimens were prepared by varying the Si/Al ratio as 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5. The paper focuses on the correlation of microstructure with hardened state parameters like bulk density, apparent porosity, sorptivity, water absorption and compressive strength. XRD analysis peaks indicates quartz, cristobalite and gibbsite for raw RHA and new peaks corresponding to Zeolite A in geopolymer specimens. In general, SEM micrographs show interconnected pores and loosely packed geopolymer matrix except for specimens made with Si/Al of 2.0 which exhibited comparatively better matrix. Incorporation of Al from sodium aluminate were confirmed with the stretching and bending vibration of Si-O-Si and O-Si-O observations from the FTIR analysis of geopolymer specimen. The dense microstructure of SA2.0 correlate into better performance in terms of 28 days maximum compressive strength of 16.96 MPa and minimum for porosity, absorption and sorptivity among the specimens. However, due to the higher water demand to make the paste workable, the value of porosity, absorption and sorptivity were reportedly higher as compared with other geopolymer systems. Correlation regression equations were proposed to validate the interrelation between physical parameters and mechanical strength. RHA geopolymer shows comparatively lower compressive strength as compared to Fly ash geopolymer.

Durability of concrete is possibly related to externally-induced chemical attacks in addition to internally-induced deterioration. Externally-induced chemical attacks can be derived from various sources according to environmental conditions under which concrete structures are existing. The present study investigates the characteristic concrete deterioration and formation of secondary minerals by external chemical attacks under certain environmental condition. Petrographic microscope, SEM, EDAX, XRD analyses were conducted to identify secondary mineral formation and micro-structural analyses.
