As recent business environments are changed and become complex, a more efficient and effective business process management are needed. This paper proposes a new approach to the automatic execution of business processes using Event-Condition-Action (ECA) rules that can be automatically triggered by an active database. First of all, we propose the concept of blocks that can classify process flows into several patterns. A block is a minimal unit that can specify the behaviors represented in a process model. An algorithm is developed to detect blocks from a process definition network and transform it into a hierarchical tree model. The behaviors in each block type are modeled using ACTA formalism. This provides a theoretical basis from which ECA rules are identified. The proposed ECA rule-based approach shows that it is possible to execute the workflow using the active capability of database without users' intervention.

대부분 기존의 Multimedia 시스템은 응용프로그램이나 사용자에 의해 발생되는 Operation 을 수동적인 형태로 처리를 한다. 개발자는 시스템의 목적이나 전략에 따라 시스템을 구성하는 각각의 Module에 대해 작업을 해야 하지만 목적이나 전략이 변경되면 해당되는 각각의 Module을 찾아서 수정을 해야만 한다. 이러한 일은 상당히 번거롭고 Error를 발생시킬 수 있는 가능성을 내포하고 있다. 또한 Multimedia 시스템은 적절한 정보를 관리하고 다양한 응용프로그램을 지원하기 위해서 많은 기능을 가져야 한다. 이 논문은 Event-Condition-Action(ECA) rule의 Active특성을 Multimedia 시스템에 적용하는 것을 제안하고 있다. 이러한 접근 방법을 통해 코드를 효과적으로 관리할 수 있다. 또한, Operation으로부터 rule을 정의하고 관리하는 것을 분리함으로써 Multimedia 시스템에 대해 상위 계층의 새로운 개념을 제시한다. 이렇게 Multimedia 시스템 상에 Active Rule시스템을 계층화시킴으로써 진보된 Multimedia 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 시스템의 모든 기능은 Event에 의해 발생되고 Rule의 Condition이 만족할 때 해당하는 Rule의 Action이 실행된다. 여기서 제안한 Interactive Group Teaching System (IGTS) 시스템은 Active Rule 시스템인 Active Rule Management System(ARMS) 상에서 구현되었고, Active 속성을 가진 IGTS 을 설계하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 본 시스템은 ECA Rule 개념이 적용 가능함을 보여준다.

유비쿼터스 환경에서 사용자에게 최적의 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 사용자 행동 및 서비스 이력을 기반으로 사용자의 상황에 적합한 새로운 서비스 규칙을 발견하는 것이 중요하다. 이 논문에서는 사용자의 상황을 고려하기 위한 컨텍스트 온톨로지를 기반으로 사용자의 행동 및 서비스 패턴을 능동적으로 마이닝할 수 있는 ECA규칙 기반의 시스템 구조를 제안한다.

Timely collaboration among businesses is required these days such as in B2B E-Commerce. That is, emergency requests or urgent information among businesses should be processed in an immediate mode. In this paper we investigate the semantics on timing constraints of timely collaboration among businesses in terms of event, data, and action and present ECA rule construction related to the timing constraints and its violation. The prototype is implemented using web-based active functionality component.

Finite automata는 실제 복잡한 컴퓨터의 연산을 수학적으로 모델링하는 computational 모델 중 하나로써 작은 메모리를 가지는 컴퓨터를 모델링하기에 적합하다. 이는 유비쿼터스 환경에서 실제로 작은 메모리를 가지는 장치가 ECA 룰을 작동시키는 디바이스 로직(디바이스 logic)을 효과적으로 운영할 수 있는지 여부를 검증하는 도구로 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문은 웹서비스 기반의 이벤트 처리 언어를 CFA로 모델링하고 알고리즘을 개발하였다.

능동데이터베이스(active database)는 일반 데이터베이스와 능동 규칙을 결합한 형태로서, 데이터베이스 스스로 상태 변화에 대응한 조치를 취할 수 있는 시스템을 말한다. 이러한 능동데이터베이스에서는 규칙의 설계가 데이터베이스 활용의 큰 비중을 차지한다. 이러한 규칙의 효율적인 설계를 위해서는 simulator의 도움이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이러한 능동데이터베이스의 규칙을 효율적으로 설계하기 위한 도구의 설계에 대해서 연구한다.

The requirement of distributed multimedia applications is the need for sophisticated QoS(quality of service) management. In terms of distributed multimedia systems, the most important catagories for quality of service are a timeless, volume, and reliability In this paper, we discuss a method for increasing reliability through fault tolerance. We describe the design and implementation of the ECA running on distributed multimedia environment. ECA is a system is able to classify automatically a software error based on distributed multimedia. This papaer explains a performance analysis of an error classification system running on distributed multimedia environment using the rule-based DEVS modeling and simulation techniques. In DEVS, a system has a time base, inputs, states, outputs, and functions.

Close collaboration among businesses is required in B2B EC environment. Furthermore, emergency requests or critical information among businesses should be processed in an immediate mode. Most current systems, however, due to firewalls for the systems' security and autonomy, can not handle these requirements appropriately, but handle them in an ad hoc manner In this paper a method of timely collaboration among businesses and an active functionality component to support it in B2B EC environment are proposed. Since the active functionality component supports high level ECA rule patterns and event-based immediate processing, system administrators and programmers can easily program and maintain the timely collaboration independently to the application logic. The proposed active functionality component uses HTTP protocol to be applied through firewalls and is designed using a commercial DBMS for practical purpose.

Nowadays, the web service was based on composing the e-business and distributed computing environment. But existing workflow management systems have many problems with the interoperability between companies because they are made before most web services. For these problems, the workflow based composition language such as the Business Process Execute Language for Web Services (BPEL4WS or BPEL) appeared in expressing the web service composition. In this paper, we present an event based rule management system architecture that executes automatically the BPEL using the Event-Condition-Action (ECA) rules. The event based rule management system consists of the event manager, rule manager, and Jess. The Jess is the part of executing and deciding the condition.

This paper draws implications on the ship finance of the Korean ECAs for shipbuilding industry from the perspective of WTO ASCM through studying the trade disputes on export credits. In consideration of the underwriting practice on the case-by-case basis, the ECAs' law regimes and their ship finance programs as such would be judged not conferring a benefit. The ship finance of international commercial banks could be treated as a market benchmark for the purpose of determining the existence of benefit in the ECA ship finance. The ECAs share securities with international commercial banks for the same exposure to the risks in a syndicate. Therefore, WTO DSB would rule that the ECA ship finance confers no benefit for individual transactions. The items (j) and (k-1) of ASCM Annex I are not allowed to interpret a contrario.
