  • Austenitic stainless steels and Ni-base alloys are widely used as structural materials for major components and piping system in pressurized water reactors (PWRs). These austenitic alloys are known to be susceptible to environmental assisted cracking (EAC), such as environmentally-assisted fatigue (EAF) and primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC) during long-term exposure to PWR primary water environment. In this paper, the current understanding on the phenomena and mechanisms of these EAC are briefly introduced using experimental results and literature review. The mechanisms for EAF and PWSCC for austenitic stainless steels and Ni-base alloys are discussed. Currently, austenitic stainless steels are known to be more susceptible to EAF, while less susceptible to PWSCC than Ni-base alloys. The possible explanations to such behaviors are proposed and discussed in view of the role of hydrogen and internal oxidation.

  • Using EVMS can probably cause lots of confusion under the different systems and different circumstances of the construction industry between Korea and The United States, because The United States has wide experience in applying to EVMS during several decades but Korea has not. Therefore this research deals with the problem about Performance Indices in forecasting EAC(Estimate at Completion) among the problems of using EVMS. A target index of testing in this research is the Performance Indices used in the research at home and abroad in the past and those is applied to APT projects within the country with statistical method. Through this method, we can catch the tendency and the properties of the Performance Indices for applying to Korea.

  • Anti-tumor activity of Euphorbia hirta (50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg) has been evaluated against Ehrlich's ascites carcinoma (EAC) in Swiss albino mice. Intraperitoneal (i.p) administration of Euphorbia hirta was effective in reducing solid tumor mass development induced by EAC cells. It exhibited significant anti-tumor activity in mice, when used at the dose of 100 mg/kg/day i.p., for 14days. The administration of Euphorbia hirta (100 mg/kg/day i.p.) resulted in an increase (P<0.001) of the life span (59.9%) of ascites tumor bearing mice as compared to the control group. After 14 days, on developed tumor masses, Euphorbia hirta administration brought about significant reduction in tumor volume and it reverse the changes in the hematological parameters, responding to tumor inoculation. The results are indicative of the anti-tumor activity of Euphorbia hirta against EAC induced tumor in a dose dependent manner.

  • In the present study, the ethanolic leaf and bark extract of Wrightia tomentosa were tested for comparative in vivo antitumour properties against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) tumour bearing mice at 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight doses given orally once daily for 16 days. The EAC mice receiving 100 and 200 mg/kg ethanolic leaf and bark extract showed a dose dependent elevation in tumour, free survival and a highest number of survivors were observed at 200 mg/ kg for leaf extract of ethanol, which was considered as an optimum dose for its anti neoplastic action. The Median survival time for this dose was approximately 44 days when compared with 23 days of non-drug treated controls. The results indicate that the administration of leaf extract not only increased the survival of animals with ascites tumour and reduced packed cell volume and viable tissue cell count, but also altered many hematological parameters changed during tumour progression, indicating the potent antitumour nature of leaf extract than the bark extract. Statistical analysis also reveals that the leaf extract showed highly significant anti tumour potency (p < 0.001) when compared with control.

  • Archival authority records support users in accessing and understanding archival information. The creator of the archives, on the other hand, is also the creator of other informative materials, including published products, and the users want to access information in a seamless manner. Moreover, the authority record has common attributes with the authority records for bibliographic control as well as its distinctive characteristics. Therefore, this research aims to link legacy authority records for constructing and expanding archival authority records and provide the expanded archival records to the Web environment, including Wikipedia, for data sharing. Finally, some issues and suggestions for further research based on the findings that resulted from experimental linking and sharing are discussed.

  • This study suggested the interoperability of authority scheme between archives and libraries having an international authority schemes. First, this study examined the standard of archival authority ISAAR (CPF) and EAC-CPF and the library authority model FRAD, analyzed the similarities and differences between them. Finally, this study ascertained the interoperability between authority control schemes. In each area, Archives and libraries have announced the proposal to develop authority control, but the directions of two institutes was identical by and large. The direction of development of authority scheme included extending the relationship between entities, sharing the records at the international level, and actively conducting the exchange of information within other organizations.

  • An osteoma of the external auditory canal(EAC) is an uncommon benign tumor. If a canal obstruction occurs, ear fullness or conductive hearing loss can arise. But, the association of an osteoma with a cholesteatoma is extremely rare. Therefore, we report a case of a 35-year-old female patient with osteoma of temporal bone that was complicated with EAC cholesteatoma.
