The reverse fault is a dangerous geological hazard faced by buried steel pipelines. Permanent ground deformation along the fault trace will induce large compressive strain leading to buckling failure of the pipe. A hybrid pipe-shell element based numerical model programed by INP code supported by ABAQUS solver was proposed in this study to explore the strain performance of buried X80 steel pipeline under reverse fault displacement. Accuracy of the numerical model was validated by previous full scale experimental results. Based on this model, parametric analysis was conducted to study the effects of four main kinds of parameters, e.g., pipe parameters, fault parameters, load parameter and soil property parameters, on the strain demand. Based on 2340 peak strain results of various combinations of design parameters, a semi-empirical model for strain demand prediction of X80 pipeline at reverse fault crossings was proposed. In general, reverse faults encountered by pipelines are involved in 3D oblique reverse faults, which can be considered as a combination of reverse fault and strike-slip fault. So a compressive strain demand estimation procedure for X80 pipeline crossing oblique-reverse faults was proposed by combining the presented semi-empirical model and the previous one for compression strike-slip fault (Liu 2016). Accuracy and efficiency of this proposed method was validated by fifteen design cases faced by the Second West to East Gas pipeline. The proposed method can be directly applied to the strain based design of X80 steel pipeline crossing oblique-reverse faults, with much higher efficiency than common numerical models.
Melatonin (MT) is an indole amide pineal hormone. It has not only very short half-life but also pH-sensitive property. The sustained release dosage form which delivers MT in a circadian fashion over 8 h is clinical value. The purpose of this study is to prepare sugar beads using multiple coating methods and enteric-coated in a sustained release to evaluate in vitro release characteristics in simulated gastric and intestinal fluids. The $Eudragit^{\circledR}$ as a polymer, sustained release membrane, and triethylcitrate (TEC) as a plasticzer were used. Multi-coated melatonin delivery system was composed of sugar, various excipients, $Eudragit^{\circledR}$ and enteric materials (e.g. hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose phthalate, HPMCP), and prepared by fluid bed coater. The dissolution test was carried out using the basket method at a stirring speed of 100 rpm at $37^{\circ}C$ in simulated gastric (pH 1.2) and intestinal fluid (pH 7.4). The released amount of MT was determined by High performance liquid chromatography method. The morhologies of surface and cross section of multi-coated beads were observed by scanning electron microscope. Size of multi-coated sugar beads was ranged over $1000{\sim}1300\;{\mu}m$. The release rate of MT from coated beads was limited in simulated gastric fluid (pH 1.2), but it was sustained in intestinal fluid (pH 7.4) during $3{\sim}8$ hours. The MT beads may provide small-intestine-targeted device for oral delivery. Studies on animal and relative experiment are in process.
PURPOSES : Hot-mix asphalt(HMA) concretes show a trend of strength increase at low temperature due to binder stiffness increase, but strength decrease below a ceratin low temperature. This is due to the differential thermal contraction(DTC) which is induced by a significant difference in coefficients of thermal contraction between aggregate and asphalt which is coated around the aggregate. This DTC damage is well known to occur in HMA concrete, but is not yet investigated in warm-mix asphalt(WMA) concretes. METHODS : To evaluate DTC damage on WMA in this study, the flexural strength($S_f$) of WMA concretes, which were produced at $30{\sim}40^{\circ}C$ lower temperature, was evaluated in comparison with that of HMA at -5, -15 and $-25^{\circ}C$. RESULTS : Most of WMA and HMA mixtures showed flexural strength increase down to $-15^{\circ}C$ and decrease below $-15^{\circ}C$. this type of strength reduction below $-15^{\circ}C$ can e explained as the effect of differential thermal contraction that is a consequence of the large difference in coefficients of thermal contraction between aggregate and asphalt. the property reduction of WMA is similar the result of previous works dealt with HMA mixtures. CONCLUSIONS : Even though there is some differences by materials used, the WMA concretes showed a significantly lower DTC damage than HMA concrete at low temperature at ${\alpha}$=0.05 level.

The objective of this study is to determine the best material model that represents the deformation behavior of the Sn37Pb solder alloy accurately. First, a specimen is fabricated and subjected to a thermal cycle with temperatures ranging from the room temperature to $125^{\circ}C$. An experiment is conducted to examine deformation by Moire interferometry. Three different constitutive equation models are used in the finite element analysis (FEA) of the thermal cycle. In order to minimize the difference between the FEA results and the experimental results, the material parameters of the solder alloy are considered to be unknown and are determined by conducting optimization. As a result of the study, the Anand model is found to represent the deformation behavior of the solder most accurately.

For decades, general services and accounting officers have been dominant forces in collection development activities in college and university libraries in Korea. The role of certified librarians has been rather peripheral. This has been allowed by the fact that library acquisitions departments had to be headed by non-librarian general administrative officers by the government regulation. The philosophy behind this regulation was that acquiring library materials was not any different from simple purchasing act of other useful goods in the marketplace. In affiliation with the element of general administrative officers, domestic book-sellers also had a great influence in collection building activities in college and university libraries in Korea. This has been made possible by the fact that no other people could su n.0, pply library materials, especially foreign library materials. It has been pointed out for years that the mechanism in which general administrative officers and domestic book-sellers had a greater say in library acquisitions activities was especially inefficient in acquiring wanted materials in wanted speed and in wanted price. In this mechanism, books and periodicals were mere goods. They were not perceived as intellectual property holding information and knowledge in them. Since the student movement to revolutionize the library system of the Pusan National University, September 1987 to December 1988, the creative and progressive elements in this university library have been making great efforts to change the acquisitions system in this library into a more efficient one by putting certified librarians at the center of the whole acquisitions process. These efforts have been successful to a certain degree. In this discursive study of the case of the Pusan National University Library, I have tried to achieve a social description of the library process in which progressively motivated librarians succeeded in alienating administrative officers and book-sellers and in grasping in their hands the hegemony in the collection building aspect of library activities. It has been discovered that this was possible only when the librarians were mature enough to have their kind of professionalism, i.e., professional ethics and craftsmanship.

In this study, It has been demonstrated a new and realizable possibility of the ferroelectric random access memory devices by all solution processing method with paper substrates. Organic ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) thin films were formed on paper substrate with Al electrode for the bottom gate structure using spin-coating technique. Then, they were subjected to annealing process for crystallization. The fabricated PVDF-TrFE thin films were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). It was found from polarization versus electric field (P-E) measurement that a PVDF-TrFE thin film on paper substrate showed very good ferroelectric property. This result agree well with that of a PVDF-TrFE thin film fabricated on the rigid Si substrate. It anticipated that these results will lead to the emergence of printable electron devices on paper. Furthermore, it could be fabricated by a solution processing method for ferroelectric random access memory device, which is reliable and very inexpensive, has a high density, and can be also fabricated easily.
TiC-21 mol% Mo solid solution (${\delta}$-phase) and TiC-99 mol% Mo solid solution (${\beta}$-phase), and TiC-(80~90) mol% Mo hypo-eutectic composite were deformed by compression in a temperature range from room to 2300 K and in a strain rate range from $4.9{\times}10^{-5}$ to $6.9{\times}10^{-3}/s$. The deformation behaviors of the composites were analyzed from the strengths of the ${\delta}$- and ${\beta}$-phases. It was found that the high strength of the eutectic composite is due primarily to solution hardening of TiC by Mo, and that the ${\delta}$-phase undergoes an appreciable plastic deformation at and above 1420 K even at 0.2% plastic strain of the composite. The yield strength of the three kinds of phase up to 1420 K is quantitatively explained by the rule of mixture, where internal stresses introduced by plastic deformation are taken into account. Above 1420 K, however, the calculated yield strength was considerably larger than the measured strength. The yield stress of ${\beta}$-phase was much larger than that of pure TiC. A good linear relationship was held between the yield stress and the plastic strain rate in a double-logarithmic plot. The deformation behavior in ${\delta}$-phase was different among the three temperature ranges tested, i.e., low, intermediate and high. At an intermediate temperature, no yield drop occurred, and from the beginning the work hardening level was high. At the tested temperature, a good linear relationship was held in the double logarithmic plot of the yield stress against the plastic strain rate. The strain rate dependence of the yield stress was very weak up to 1273 K in the hypo-eutectic composite, but it became stronger as the temperature rose.

The solid state cesium ion source os alumino-silicate based zeolite which contains cerium. The material is an ionic conductor. Cesiums are stably stored in the material and one can extract the cesiums by applying electric field across the electrolyte. Cesium ion bombardment has the unique property of producing high negative ion yield. This ion source is used as the primary source for the production of a negative ion without any gas discharge or the need for a carrier gas. The deposition of materials as an ionic species in the energy range of 1.0 to 300eV is recently recognized as a very promising new thin film technique. This energetic non-thermal equilibrium deposition process produces films by “Kinetic Bonding / Energetic Condensation" mechansim not governed by the common place thermo-mechanical reaction. Under these highly non-equilibrium conditions meta-stable materials are realized and the negative ion is considered to be an optimum paeticle or tool for the purpose. This process differs fundamentally from the conventional ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) technique such that the ion beam energy transfer to the deposition process is directly coupled the process. Since cesium ion beam sputter deposition process is forming materials with high kinetic energy of metal ion beams, the process provider following unique advantages:(1) to synthesize non thermal-equilibrium materials, (2) to form materials at lower processing temperature than used for conventional chemical of physical vapor deposition, (3) to deposit very uniform, dense, and good adhesive films (4) to make higher doposition rate, (5) to control the ion flux and ion energy independently. Solid state cesium ion beam sputter deposition system has been developed. This source is capable of producing variety of metal ion beams such as C, Si, W, Ta, Mo, Al, Au, Ag, Cr etc. Using this deposition system, several researches have been performed. (1) To produce superior quality amorphous diamond films (2) to produce carbon nitirde hard coatings(Carbon nitride is a new material whose hardness is comparable to the diamond and also has a very high thermal stability.) (3) to produce cesiated amorphous diamond thin film coated Si surface exhibiting negative electron affinity characteristics. In this presentation, the principles of solid state cesium ion beam sputter deposition and several applications of negative metal ion source will be introduced.

Most of ferrous b.c.c weld materials have martensitic transformation during rapid cooling after welding. It is well known that volume expansion due to the phase transformation could influence on the relaxation of welding residual stress. To apply this effect practically, it is necessary to establish a numerical model which is able to estimate the effect of phase transformation on residual stress relaxation quantitatively. For this purpose, the analysis is carried out in two regions, i.e., heating and cooling, because the variation of material properties following a phase transformation in cooling is different in comparison with the case in heating, even at the same temperature. The variation of material properties following phase transformation is considered by the adjustment of specific heat and thermal expansion coefficient, and the distribution of residual stress in analysis is compared with that of experiment by previous study. In this study, simplified numerical procedures considering phase transformation, which based on a commercial finite element package was established through comparing with the experimental data of residual stress distribution by other researcher. To consider the phase transformation effect on residual stress relaxation, the transition of mechanical and thermal property such as thermal expansion coefficient and specific heat capacity was found by try and error method in this analysis. In addition to, since the transformation temperature changes by the kind and control of alloying elements, the steel with many kinds of transformation temperature were selected and the effect of transformation on stress releasement was investigated by the numerical procedures considering phase transformation.
In order to increase the magnetic properties of a Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet, the general factors including particle size and its distribution, volume fraction of Nd$_2$Fe$_{14}$B phase, degree of alignment of Nd$_2$Fe$_{14}$B grain, oxygen content and grain size etc. should be optimized by controlling the composition of Nd-Fe-B alloy as well as the manufacturing process. In this study, fabrication of the Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet was carried out in a laboratory scale by controlling the composition of Nd-Fe-B alloy and the manufacturing process. The optimum milling condition was found by investigating the milling media, milling time and ball size. The addition of FeGa was effective to increase the coercivity of the Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet. A remanence of 14.4 kG, a coercivity of 9.4 kOe and a maximum energy product of 47 MGOe were obtained from the sintered magnet.
