  • Quickness and precision are the two most important requirements for an industrial scale used in production lines. In this paper, a new approach, "Dynamic-Mass measurement control System of Acceleration and Displacement(DMS-AD) sensing", is presented to improve some of drowbacks in conventional scales. The system, consisted of acceleration and displace- ment sensors, spring scale and microcomputer, is based on full utilization of dynamic mass measurement of acceleration and displacement via microcomputer-assisted real time monitoring. The rsulting system, when combined with appropriate dynamic mass estimation algorithm software, has shown its effectiveness in terms of two desirable characteristics required. required.

  • Recently, mega-float offshore structure is studied as one of the effective utilization of the ocean space. And mega-float structure are now being considered for various applications such as floating airports, offshore cities and so on. This mega-float structure is relatively flexible compared with real floating structures like large ships. when we estimate dynamic responses of these structures in waves, the elastic deformation is important, because vertical dimension is small compared with horizontal. The analysis of the dynamic response as it receives regular wave is studied. The finite element method is used in the analysis of structural section of this model. And the analysis is carried out using the boundary element method in the fluid division. In order to know the characteristics of the dynamic response of the mega-float structures, effects of wavelength, water depth, and wave direction on dynamic response of the floating structure are studied by use of numerical calculation.

  • A terminal-based dynamic clustering algorithm is proposed in a multi-cell scenario, where the user could select the cooperative BSs from the predetermined static base stations (BSs) set based on dynamic channel condition. First, the user transmission rate is derived based on linear precoding and per-cell feedback scheme. Then, the dynamic clustering algorithm can be implemented based on two criteria: (a) the transmission rate should meet the user requirement for quality of service (QoS); (b) the rate increment exceeds the predetermined constant threshold. By adopting random vector quantization (RVQ), the optimized number of cooperative BSs and the corresponding channel conditions are presented respectively. Numerical results are given and show that the performance of the proposed method can improve the system resources utilization effectively.

  • Tissue optics is a well-established and extensively studied area. In the last decades, Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) has been one of the standard tools for simulation of light propagation in turbid media. The utilization of parallel processing exhibits dramatic increase in the speed of MCS's of photon migration. Some calculations based on MCS can be completed within a few seconds. Since the MCS's have the potential to become a real time calculation method, a dynamic accuracy estimation, which is also known as history by history statistical estimators, is required in the simulation code to automatically terminate the MCS as the results' accuracy achieves a high enough level. In this work, spatial and time-domain GPU-based MCS, adopting the dynamic accuracy estimation, are performed to calculate the light dose/reflectance in homogeneous and heterogeneous tissue media. This dynamic accuracy estimation can effectively derive the statistical error of optical dose/reflectance during the parallel Monte Carlo process.

  • In this study, the evaluation for effective utilization of waste landfill was performed by field test to use waste landfill as construction site(Nangido in Seoul). This site had been formed by dredging the household waste, building debris and industrial waste for fifteen years(78'3~93'3). The site where dynamic compaction test was divided by 4 yards. Yard-1, 2 were not eliminated widening of cover soil and Yard-3, 4 were eliminated it. Dynamic Compaction Pilot Test was carried out by the 15ton heavy tamper with drop height of 20m in Yard-1, 3 and with drop height of 15m in Yard-2, 4. We evaluated the compaction efficiency, optimum compaction number and noise vibration through field test, monitoring. As a result, if the countermeasures against vibration and noise by the method utilize, the dynamic compaction method is suitable for using in waste landfill as a construction site among the ground improvement method.

  • To efficiently reduce on-grid energy consumption, the admission control algorithm in the hybrid energy powered cellular network (HybE-Net) with base stations (BSs) powered by on-grid energy and solar energy is studied. In HybE-Net, the fluctuation of solar energy harvesting and energy consumption may result in the imbalance of solar energy utilization among BSs, i.e., some BSs may be surplus in solar energy, while others may maintain operation with on-grid energy supply. Obviously, it makes solar energy not completely useable, and on-grid energy cannot be reduced at capacity. Thus, how to control user admission to improve solar energy utilization and to reduce on-grid energy consumption is a great challenge. Motivated by this, we first model the energy flow behavior by using stochastic queue model, and dynamic energy characteristics are analyzed mathematically. Then, fuzzy logic based admission control algorithm is proposed, which comprehensively considers admission judgment parameters, e.g., transmission rate, bandwidth, energy state of BSs. Moreover, the index of solar energy utilization balancing is proposed to improve the balance of energy utilization among different BSs in the proposed algorithm. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm performs excellently in improving solar energy utilization and reducing on-grid energy consumption of the HybE-Net.

  • We evaluated the effect of particle size and associated dynamics on a hydrocyclone separation process in order to understand the movement of the particle trajectories inside the hydrocyclone via numerical analysis, with particles of acid hydrolysis residues discharged in $TiO_2$ production via the sulfate method as a case study. The values obtained from the numerical simulation were successfully compared with those from experimental tests in the literature, allowing a description of the dynamics of the particles, their acting forces, and their relevant properties together with separation efficiency. The results showed that particle motion is jointly controlled by the drag force, the pressure gradient force and the centrifugal force. With increasing particle size, the influence of the drag force is weakened, whereas that of the centrifugal force and pressure gradient is strengthened. Factors including particle density, slurry viscosity, and inlet slurry flow rate also contribute to a clear and useful understanding of particle motion behavior in the hydrocyclone as a method for improving the separation efficiency.

  • The dynamic equations for an arbitrary cluster comprising rigid spheres or assemblies of spheres (subclusters) encountered in granular-type systems are considered. The system is treated within the framework of multibody dynamics. It is shown that for an arbitrary cluster topology the governing equations can be given in an explicit scalar from. The derivation is based on the D'Alembert principle, on inertial coordinate system for each body and direct utilization of the path matrix describing the topology. The scalar form of the equations is important in computer simulations of flow of granular-type materials. An illustrative example of a three-body system is given.

  • The system virtualization shows interest in the consolidation of servers for the efficient utilization of system resources. There are many various researches to utilize a server machine more efficiently through the system virtualization technique, and improve performance of the virtualization software. These researches have studied with the activity to control the resource allocation of virtual machines dynamically focused on CPU, or to manage resources in the cross-machine using the migration. However, the researches of the memory management have been wholly lacking. In this respect, the use of memory is limited to allocate the memory statically to virtual machine in server consolidation. Unfortunately, the static allocation of the memory causes a great quantity of the idle memory and decreases the memory utilization. The underutilization of the memory makes other side effects such as the load of other system resources or the performance degradation of services in virtual machines. In this paper, we suggest the dynamic allocation of the memory in Xen to control the memory allocation of virtual machines for the utilization without the performance degradation. Using AR model for the prediction of the memory usage and ACO (Ant Colony Optimization) algorithm for optimizing the memory utilization, the system operates more virtual machines without the performance degradation of servers. Accordingly, we have obtained 1.4 times better utilization than the static allocation.
