The current seismic design code prescribes that a structural wall should be designed as a special shear wall when the building height is more than 60 m and its seismic design category is classified as D. However, the use of a special shear wall has a negative effect on constructability and economic efficiency. In the present study, the seismic performance of a special shear wall and a special shear wall with relaxed reinforcement detail was evaluated through a cyclic reversal loading test. The specimens were constructed to measure the results of the experimental variable regarding the reinforcement details of the special boundary element. Next, the seismic performances of a special shear wall structural system and that of a special shear wall structural system with relaxed reinforcement detail was evaluated by methods proposed in the FEMA P695. The cyclic reversal loading test results of this study showed that the performance of the shear wall with relaxed reinforcement detail was almost similar to the performance of a special shear wall and has the performance which requested from standard. The results of the seismic evaluation showed that all special shear walls with relaxed reinforcement detail are satisfied with the design code and seismic performance.
Nowadays, geosynthetics for reinforcement and protection are widely applied to the waste landfill site. Current research indicates the potential for progressive failure in geosynthetic-soil system depends on the interface shear strength governed by several intrinsic factors such as moisture, normal stress, chemical, etc. In particular, the effect of the acidity and basicity from the leachate is intensively reviewed to assess the chemical reaction mechanism of interface shear strength under the cyclic loading condition. New multi-purpose interface apparatus(M-PIA) has been manufactured and the cyclic direct shear tests using submerged geosynthetics and soils under the different chemical conditions have been performed, consequently, the thickness of interface and shear stress degradation are verified. The basic schematic of the Disturbed State Concept(DSC) is employed to estimate the shear stress degradation in the interface, then, normalized disturbed function is obtained and analyzed to describe the shear stress degradation of geosynthetic-soil interface with chemical influence factors under dynamic condition.
Recently, the construction of onshore waste landfill sites has been studied due to the increase of waste and geosynthetics are widely utilized to enforce and protect waste landfill. Geosynthetics comprises the interface with soil and the seismic behavior and stability mostly depend on the dynamic shear behavior of the geosynthetic-soil interface. Therefore, the understanding of dynamic shear behavior and dynamic relative displacement of the interface is critical. The dynamic shear behavior of the interface is affected by surrounding conditions and loading and shows very complicated response, and, it is difficult to study theoretically. In this study, laboratory test to investigate dynamic relative displacement is performed under chemical condition. Dynamic interface apparatus is utilized and cyclic simple shear tests are conducted under short term (60 days of submerging period) and long term (840 days of submerging period) conditions. Consequently, relative displacement of the interface shows the largest values under acid condition, which means more severe damage of the interface.
The problem of a semi-infinite magneto-electro-elastically impermeable mode-III crack in a magneto-electro-elastic material is considered under the action of impact loads. For the case when a pair of concentrated anti-plane shear impacts, electric displacement and magnetic induction impacts are exerted symmetrically on the upper and lower surfaces of the crack, the magneto-electro-elastic field ahead of the crack tip is determined in explicit form. The dynamic intensity factors and dynamic energy density factor are obtained. The method adopted is to reduce the mixed initial-boundary value problem, by using the Laplace and Fourier transforms, into three simultaneous dual integral equations, one of which is converted into an Abel's integral equation and the others into a singular integral equation with Cauchy kernel. Based on the obtained fundamental solutions of point impact loads, the solutions of two kinds of different loading cases are evaluated by integration. For some particular cases, the present results reduce to the previous results.

Dynamic stability of graded nonlocal nano-dimension plates on elastic substrate due to in-plane periodic loads has been researched via a novel 3- unknown plate theory based on exact position of neutral surface. Proposed theory confirms the shear deformation effects and contains lower field components in comparison to first order and refined 4- unknown plate theories. A modified power-law function has been utilized in order to express the porosity-dependent material coefficients. The equations of nanoplate have been represented in the context of Mathieu-Hill equations and Chebyshev-Ritz-Bolotin's approach has been performed to derive the stability boundaries. Detailed impacts of static/dynamic loading parameters, nonlocal constant, foundation parameters, material index and porosities on instability boundaries of graded nanoscale plates are researched.

Recently geosynthetics that can be constructed on soft ground have been used for reinforcement and separation in various ways. Through laboratory model tests and numerical analysis, in this study, estimated the suitability of cable elements and appropriate input factors considering loading effect in modeling of geosynthetics. First, in laboratory model tests, geosynthetics were constructed on the clay, and covered with the thickness, 7.5cm of sand mat. And then static and dynamic model tests were performed measuring loading, settlement, ground lateral displacement, and displacements of geosynthetics, but, for cyclic loading, bearing capacity increased linearly with stiff slop because cyclic loading with constant cyclic pressure compacted the ground. Numerical analysis were performed with FLAC 4.0 2D using Mohr-Coulomb and Modified Cam-Clay models, and they compared with the results of model tests. Cable elements of FLAC in modeling geosynthetics couldn't consider the characteristics of geosynthetics that increase shear strength between geosynthetics and clay according to the loading increase. Therefore, in this study, appropriate equation that can consider loading effects in Cable elements was proposed by Case Study.
A relatively simple model of a buried structure response to a surface loading that can simulate a possible opening and closure of a gap between the soil and the structure is presented. Analysis of the response of small and medium scale buried roof slabs under surface impulsive loading shows that the model's predictions are in fairly good agreement with the experimental results. Application of the model to a study case shows the relative influence of system parameters such as, the depth of burial, the arching coefficient, and the roof thickness, on the interface pressure and on the roof displacement. This model demonstrates the effect of a gap between the structure and the soil. The relative importance of including a gap opening and closure in the analysis is examined by the application of the model to a study case. This study results show that the deeper the depth of burial, the longer the gap duration, and the shorter the duration of the initial interface impact, while the higher the soil's shear resistance, the higher the gap duration, and the shorter the initial interface impact duration.

It has been generally much fine contents in West Coast of Korea. When cyclic shear stress causing liquefaction was estimated as using cyclic triaxial tests in these grounds, it didn't appear linear relations between deviator stress and confining stress where σ'₃ was more than 150 kpa. Namely, due to no normalization of cyclic shear stress ratio, the errors of this is increased. Therefore, more confining stress is increased, more increment of deviator stress is decreased. So, using linear relations between tanø'/sub d/ of dynamic internal friction angle and CSR where σ'₃ was less than 150 kpa, liquefaction of these grounds was evaluated. Also, as doing detail evaluation which had carried response analysis of earthquake, this appeared good results which was well compatible with empirical methods using N-value of SPT. It was thought that these result evaluated vulnerable liquefaction area more correct than existing methods. Also, characteristics of liquefaction in West Coast grounds was compared with clean sands, with analysis of behavior of pore pressure ratio and axial strain affected by fine contents, as cyclic loading was applied.

When a thermoset conductive adhesive joints are subjected to the thermal cycles, the thermal stresses are developed around the joints. Most of in-plane, hi-axial components of these residual stresses induces large tensile peel stresses and weakens adhesive joints. Also these stresses vary with thermal cycles, and result in thermal fatigue loading and debonding propagation. In this study, the thermal ratchetting effect in conductive adhesive joints are evaluated by the finite element analysis with the viscoelastic material model. In order to Investigate the relationship between thermal ratchetting and glass transition temperature, the mathematical material model has been developed experimentally by dynamic mechanical analysis. These material models are implemented to the finite element analysis with thermal loading cycles. And the stress profiles around the conductive adhesive joints are calculated. It has been observed that the thermal ratchetting occurs when the maximum temperature of thermal cycles is above the glass transition temperature. The peel and shear stress components increase as the thermal loading time increases. This will contributes to thermal fatigue fracture of the joints.
In this article, the effect of different geometrical, materials and load parameters on the transient response of axisymmetric viscoelastic functionally graded annular plates with different boundary conditions are studied. The behavior of the plate is assumed the elastic in bulk and viscoelastic in shear with the standard linear solid model. Also, the graded properties vary through the thickness according to a power law function. Three types of mostly applied transient loading, i.e., step, impulse, and harmonic with different load distribution respect to radius coordinate are examined. The motion equations and the corresponding boundary conditions are extracted by applying the first order shear deformation theory which are three coupled partial differential equations with variable coefficients. The resulting motion equations are solved analytically using the perturbation technique and the generalized Fourier series. The sensitivity of the response to the graded indexes, different transverse loads, aspect ratios, boundary conditions and the material properties are investigated too. The results are compared with the finite element analysis.
