Design of Ultra Wide Band MMIC Digital Attenuator using Switched-T Attenuator (스위치드-티 감쇠기를 이용한 초광대역 MMIC 디지털 감쇠기 설계)

  • A broadband DC to 40 GHz 5-bit MMIC digital attenuator has been developed. The ultra broadband attenuator has been achieved by newly inserted the transmission lines in conventional Switched-T attenuator and the optimization of the transmission line parameters. Momentum was employed in design for an accurate performance prediction at high frequencies and Monte Carlo analysis was applied to verify performance stability against the MMIC process variation. The attenuator has been fabricated with 0.15 $\mu$m GaAs pHEMT process. This attenuator has 1 dB resolution and 23 dB dynamic range. High attenuation accuracy has been achieved over all attenuation range and full 40 GHz bandwidth with the reference state insertion loss of less than 6 dB at 20 GHz. The input and output return losses of the attenuator are better than 14 dB over all attenuation states and frequencies.

  • Considering our increasingly interconnected organizations heavily relying on business processes and the growing need for timely accurate knowledge to achieve greater agility in the enterprise, the idea of looking at business processes as a knowledge object is gaining momentum. Business process information is knowledge and should consequently be managed as a valuable organizational asset, particularly because organizations need to react in near real time to environmental changes and events. This paper provides an overview of the situation in this field arguing for a better definition of the intersections between knowledge and business process management. When business process is seen as knowledge, it should be managed as such. We assess and discuss some of the resulting benefits and considering the need for greater dynamic integration between the two domains, we look at ontologies as an interesting technical approach to bridging this gap showing an example for an ontology based sales order process.

  • The most commonplace of collisions that directly affect people is that of vehicles. Safety studies have noted a correlation between vehicle occupant injury severity and velocity changes. Methods for estimating collision velocity changes are discussed here. This topic is part of what is referred to as accident reconstruction. Only planar collisions are considered. When a vehicle collides with another, impact dynamics with friction should be considered. This paper presents a general analysis methodology of impact. must dynamics incorporating friction. The presence of friction between sliding contacts during the impact makes the problem difficult since the events such as reverse sliding or sticking, which may occur at different times throughout the impact, must be determined. This paper uses the results of RICSAC experiments for verifying the developed methodology. The analysis and experimental results agree well.

  • Bow shock formation, in case the supersonic solar wind flow is hindered by the atmosphere of Mars, is investigated. The atoms newly ionized from the extensive neutral atmosphere of Mars are loaded to the solar wind. By the conservation of momentum, the solar wind velocity is decreased. Then the supersonic flow velocity drops to the subsonic flow velocity in front of Mars at certain region, which is called the bow shock. The location of Mars subsolar bow shock is highly varying in the range of 1.3 to 2.5 Rm. Martian bow shock location is estimated by one-dimensional flux tube equations reduced from full three-dimensional MHD equations. The variability of Mars bow shock location effected by the solar wind conditions is studied. It is evident that the solar wind dynamic pressure change is able to make the Mars bow shock location variable.

  • COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) shall be operated with two remote sensing payloads, MI (Meteorological Imager) and GOCI (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager). Since both payloads have rotating mechanisms, the dynamic coupling between two payloads is very important considering the pointing stability during GOCI operation. In addition, COMS adopts a single solar wing to improve the image quality, which leads to the unbalanced solar pressure torque in COMS. As a result, the off-loading of the wheel momentum needs to be performed regularly (2 times per day). Since the frequent off-loading could affect MI/GOCI imaging performance, another suboptimal off-loading time needs to be considered to meet the AOCS design requirements of COMS while having margin enough in the number of thruster actuations. In this paper, preliminary analysis results on the pointing stability and the wheel off-loading time selection with respect to MI/GOCI operations are presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 학습알고리즘의 비선형 주요성분분석 신경망을 이용한 영상데이터의 효율적인 특징추출에 대하여 제안한다. 제안된 학습알고리즘에서는 최적해로 수렴하는 과정에서 발생할 수도 있는 진동을 억제하여 빠른 속도의 수렴이 가능하도록 하기 위해 모멘트를 이용하였고, 국소최적해를 만났을 때 이를 벗어난 전역최적해로의 수렴을 위한 새로운 연결가중치의 설정을 위하여 동적터널링을 이용함으로써 빠른 수렴속도로 전역최적해에 수렴되도록 학습시킬 수 있다. 제안된 학습알고리즘을 이용한 신경망을 256$\times$256 픽셀의 간암영상과 128$\times$128 픽셀의 얼굴영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 기울기하강의 학습알고리즘을 이용한 기존 비선형 주요성분분석 신경망보다 우수한 수렴성능과 특징추출성능이 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • The unsteady flow calculation around the proprotor of Smart UAV was conducted. Using the flight scenario of SUAV which composed of hover, transition, and airplane mode, the aerodynamic analysis of proprotor were performed for the variation of collective pitch, rpm, forward speed, and tilt angle. The unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equations were used for the calculation and the dynamic overset grid technique was applied for the rotating proprotor. The aerodynamic performance of proprotor calculated in this way were validated by comparing with the performance data obtained from the blade element momentum method.

  • In this paper, we propose a design technique for a neural network controller and apply it to power system stabilization. Using a learning algorithm of error back propagation that accepts error and change of error as inputs, the momentum learning technique is used by which reduction of learning time is possible for real time control. The related simulation results show that the proposed control techinque is more powerful than the conventional ones for dynamic responses.

c-CMG Cluster for Small Satellites

  • This article presents the details of a designed control moment gyroscope (CMG) with a constant speed momentum wheel and one-axis-gimbal, and its experimental results performed at Korea Aerospace Research Institute. The CMG which is able to produce a torque of lOO mNm per each, is mounted in a pyramid configuration with four SGCMGs. Each CMG test and a single axis maneuver test with four-CMG cluster configuration are performed to confirm their performance on a ground-test facilities consisted of three major parts: a vibration isolation system, a dynamic force plate (Kistler sensor), and a DSP board. These facilities provide the accurate data of three axial and torques from the control moment gyro. Details of the CMG experimental results are presented with discussion of the experimental errors. The experimental data are compared with theoretical results and both results are used to verify their performance specifications.

Vibration mitigation of composite laminated satellite solar panels using distributed piezoelectric patches

  • Satellites with flexible lightweight solar panels are sensitive to vibration that is caused by internal actuators such as reaction or momentum wheels which are used to control the attitude of the satellite. Any infinitesimal amount of unbalance in the reaction wheels rotors will impose a harmonic excitation which may interact with the solar panels structure. Therefore, quenching the solar panel's vibration is of a practical importance. In the present work, the panels are modeled as laminated composite beam using first-order shear deformation laminated plate theory which accounts for rotational inertia as well as shear deformation effects. The vibration suppression is achieved by bonding patches of piezoelectric material with suitable dimensions at selected locations along the panel. These patches are actuated by driving control voltages. The governing equations for the system are formulated and the dynamic Green's functions are used to present an exact yet simple solution for the problem. A guide lines is proposed for determining the values of the driving voltage in order to suppress the induced vibration.
