The uncertainty problem analysis of the engineering solution for prediction and estimation of the operating regime to design of gas- hydro-dynamic systems

  • Analysis of the uncertainty to have engineering solution of gas-dynamic and hydrodynamic problems is based on the comparison the prospective engineering solution with experimental result. In this paper, the mathematical model to estimate heat flux along gas-dynamic channel wall and the solution sequence are shown. Statistical information and generalizing experimental characteristics about gas- and hydro-dynamic channels were applied to the mathematical model. As the results, it is possible to draw a conclusion that models of the integrated approach, using the averaged statistical data of generalizing characteristics for a turbulent flow, without consideration of the turbulent mechanism (characteristic pulsations), can predict a nominal operating regime for gas-dynamic and hydrodynamic systems. The probable deviation of operating regime for newly designed the gas-dynamic channel can achieve 20% from a regime predicted on a basis 1-D or 3-D modelling irrespective of a kind of used models.

  • 진공챔버는 진공게이지 교정, 산업에서의 재료처리 등 여러 가지 다양한 용도에 맞게 적용이 가능하다. 이 진공챔버 내부에서 가스가 유입되는 과정에서의 진공도는 일정하게 유지하기가 힘들다. 산업체 응용에서뿐만 아니라 연구과정에서도 진공챔버 내부에 가스가 유입되는 동안의 내부압력분포와 최대도달 평형압력을 아는 것이 매우 중요하다. 이러한 진공챔버 내부의 압력 불균형을 감소시키기 위해서 가스 주입구 부분에 baffle을 이용하는 방법이 있다. 현재 지속적인 기체흐름이 있는 진공챔버 내부의 기체흐름의 작용에 관해 0.1 Pa~133 Pa 영역에서 불규칙한 압력을 최소화하기 위한 baffle plate의 효과에 대해 연구하였다. 최대편차는 가스 주입구 부분에서 나타나는 압력으로 baffle plate가 전환흐름영역에서 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

혼합기 형성-유입과정을 고려한 천연가스엔진 모델링 연구 (A Study of on a Natural Gas Engine Modeling for Mixture formation and Intake Process)

  • Development of a dynamic engine model is essential to predict and analyze of dynamic characteristics from a natural gas engine. Reducing the harmful exhaust emissions can be accomplished by a precise air-fuel ratio control. In this paper, the dynamic engine model was proposed and included mixture formation and intake process because the dynamic characteristics can be affected by the mixture components such as an air and a gaseous fuel. The air mass flow, the partial pressure ratio, and the gas constant are changed by variations of the components in the mixture formation and intake process. The dynamic engine model is applied to the natural gas engine for validation test. Experimental results show that the dynamic engine model is effective to predict the dynamic characteristics of the natural gas engine.

수평력을 받는 Plastic type PCV 밸브 내부 유동 가시화 (Flow Visualization of Plastic type PCV Valve with Horizontal Force)

  • PCV(Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system is designed to remove blowby gas. In this system, a PCV valve is attached in a manifold suction tube to control the flow rate of blowby gas which generates various operating conditions of an automotive engine. As this valve plays a crucial role, the demand in its design is high owing to the small size and high velocity. For this reason, a numerical investigation was carried out to understand both the spool dynamic motion and internal fluid flow characteristics. As a result, the spool dynamic characteristics(i.e. displacement, velocity, acting force), increase in direct proportion to the magnitude of the pressure difference and indicate periodic oscillating motions. Moreover, the velocity at the orifice region decreases according to the increase in differential pressure due to energy loss caused by the sudden decrease of flow area at the orifice region and the increase of flow volume in front of the spool head. Finally, the mass flow rate at the outlet decreases with the increase of spool displacement.

  • HVOF thermal spray guns are now being widely used to produce protective coatings, on the surfaces of engineering components. HVOF technology employs a combustion process to heat the gas flow and melt the coating materials which are particles of metals, alloys or cermets. Particle flow which is accelerated to high velocities and combustion gas stream are deposited on a substrate. In order to obtain good quality coatings, the analysis of torch design must be performed. The reason is that the design parameters of torch influence gas dynamic behaviors. In this study, numerical analysis is performed to predict the gas dynamic behaviors in a HVOF thermal spray gun with various torch shapes. The CFD model is used to deduce the effect of changes in nozzle geometry on gas dynamics. Using a commercial code, FLUENT which uses Finite Volume Method and SIMPLE algorithm, governing equations have been solved for the pressure, velocity and temperature distributions in the HVOF thermal spray torch.

  • 이상유동 모델과 동적격자계를 활용하여 탄의 사출관 내부의 열유동과 탄의 운동성능을 해석하는 수치모사를 진행하였다. 고온의 공기와 냉각제간의 상호작용 및 유동장을 해석하기 위해, Realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ 난류 모델과 VOF (Volume Of Fluid) 모델을 선정하고 냉각제 유량변이에 따른 수치 해석을 진행하였다. 해석결과, 사출관의 압력은 냉각제의 유뮤에 따라 큰 차이를 보였고, 냉각제량에 따라서도 각각의 차이를 보였다. 탄의 속도와 가속도의 변이는 압력에 종속하여 나타났다.

  • This study is focused on the channel design of bipolar plate in the electrode of hydrogen gas generator. The characteristics of hydrogen gas generation was studied in view of efficiency of hydrogen gas generation rate and a tendency of gas flow through the riv design of electrode. Since the flow rate and flow pattern of generated gas in the two phase flow system are the most crucial in determining the efficiency of hydrogen gas generator, we adopted the commercial analytical program of COMSOL MultiphysicsTM to calculate the theoretical flow rate of hydrogen gas from the outlet of gas generator and flow pattern of two phase fluid in the electrode. In this study, liquid electrolyte flows into the bipolar plate and decomposed into gas phase, two phase flow simulation is applied to measure the efficiency of hydrogen gas generation.

습식 배연탈황 시스템의 효율 향상을 위한 전산해석 (Computational Fluid Dynamic Analysis for Improving the Efficiency of Desulfurization System for the Wet Flue Gas)

  • 본 논문에서는 CFDRC 사의 상용 CFD 소프트웨어인 CFD-ACE+로 전산유체역학 기법을 적용하여 수치 해석을 수행하여 배연탈황 설비에서 Induced Draft Fan(I.D.Fan) 출구부터 Booster Up Fan(B.U.Fan) 입구까지 난류 유동장과 연소 유동 문제를 모사하여 배기가스 계통 설비의 유동 특성을 해석하였다. 배기가스가 I.D.Fan 출구 ~ B.U.Fan 입구 구간을 적정속도로 균일하게 유동하여 B.U.Fan로 균일하게 유입되도록 하며 압력손실이 적게 발생하도록 설계기준 보일러 부하와 최대연속 정격유량의 보일러 부하에서 이 구간의 안내깃을 검토하였다. 검토한 결과에 대해 CFD 해석을 수행하여 I.D.Fan 출구에서 안내깃을 제거하고 B.U.Fan 입구 전에 안내깃을 보강할 수 있도록 설계를 변경하였다. 배기가스 계통에 변경된 설계를 적용하여 수치모사한 결과에서 배연탈황 설비 내부의 배기가스 압력손실이 줄어들고 유속과 유선이 균일하게 유동할 수 있어 배연탈황 시스템의 효율이 향상한 것을 확인하였다.

  • A dynamical analysis and PID control of a compressed gas expulsion system is performed. The purpose of this study is to develop a compressed gas discharging system and to verify the validity of the system. The electro-hydraulic servo valve is modeled as a 3th order transfer function to calculate flow force affecting expulsion valve is significantly considered. The friction force in the expulsion valve is considered as a nonliner model of stribeck effect. The dynamic characteristics of this system is examined by the computer simulation. The position control of the expulsion valve is performed by PID controller.

단기통 디젤 기관의 배기관 가스유동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Gas Flow in Exhaust Manifold of a Single Cylinder Diesel Engine)

  • A diesel engine has been widely used for ship and industry power because it has many merits of high thermal efficiency, reliability and durability. However its exhaust gas is harmful to human and air environment. Reducing the hurtful exhaust gas emissions, the study of the gas flow in the inlet and exhaust manifold is in progress in the world. In this paper we modeled the gas flow as one dimensional isentropic flow to predict the gas flow in the exhaust manifold. The method of characteristics was used for the model calculation, and the calculated results were compared with the experimental ones.
