  • Three different improvements of the Velocity-based model were proposed in a minimal velocity-based pedestrian model. The improvements of the models are based on the different agent forms. The different representations of the agent lead to different results, in this paper, we simulated the pedestrian movements in some typical scenes by using different agent forms, and the agent forms included the circles with different radiuses, the ellipse and the multi-circle stand for one pedestrian. We have proposed a novel model of pedestrian dynamics to optimize the simulation. Our model specifies the pedestrian behavior using a dynamic ellipse, which is parameterized by their velocity and can improve the simulaton accuracy. We found a representation of the pedestrian much closer to the reality. The phenomena of the self-organization can be observable in the improved models.

  • 'Tangent' is one of the most important concepts in the middle and high school mathematics, especially in dealing with calculus. The concept of tangent in the current textbook consists of the ways which make use of discriminant or differentiation. These ways, however, do not present dynamic view points, that is, the concept of variation. In this paper, after applying 'Roberval's way of finding tangent using vectors in terms of kinematics to parabola, ellipse, circle, hyperbola, cycloid, hypocycloid and epicycloid, we will identify that this is the tangent of those curves. This trial is the educational link of mathematics and physics, and it will also suggest the appropriate example of applying vector. We will also help students to understand the tangent by connecting this method to the existing ones.

  • Previous dynamic models of hysteresis motor use an extended induction machine equivalent circuit or somewhat different equivalent circuit with conventional one, which makes unsatisfiable results. In this paper, the hysteresis dynamic characteristics of the motor rotor are analyzed using the inverse Preisach model and the hysteresis motor equivalent circuit considering eddy current effect. The hysteresis loop for the rotor ring is analyzed under full-load voltage source static state. The calculated hysteresis loop is then approximated to an ellipse for simplicity of dynamic computation. The permeability and delay angle of the elliptic loop apply to the dynamic analysis model. As a result, it is possible to dynamically analyze the hysteresis motor according to the applied voltage and the rotor material. With this method, the motor speed, generated torque, load angle, rotor current as well as synchronous entry time, hunting effect can be calculated.

  • In this paper, the motion coordination algorithm of mobile agents in active sensor network is proposed to track the dynamic boundary for environmental monitoring. While most of dynamic boundary tracking algorithms in the literature were studied under the assumption that the boundary and/or its evolving rate is known a priori, the proposed algorithm is assumed that the individual active agent can measure the state of environment locally without any information of the boundary. When the boundary is evolving dynamically, the formation of active agents is designed to achieve two objectives. One is to track boundary layer based on the measured information and a small deviation. The other is to maintain a uniform distance between adjacent agents. The algorithm structure based on a state diagram is proposed to achieve these two objectives. Finally, it will be shown in the simulations that all given agents converge to a desired boundary layer and maintain a formation along the boundary. • Background: Postural control deficit is a major characteristic in patients with chronic ankle instability (CAI). Elastic ankle tapings are commonly used to facilitate postural control in patients with CAI as well as prevent relapse of a lateral ankle sprain. However, equivocal evidence exists concerning the effect of elastic ankle taping on postural control. Objects: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of elastic ankle tapings using kinesio taping (KT) and dynamic taping (DT) on static and dynamic postural control in patients with CAI. Methods: Fifteen subjects with CAI were participated in this study. The participants performed tests under three conditions (barefoot, KT, and DT). Static postural control was evaluated using the one-leg standing test (OLST) and dynamic postural control using the modified Star Excursion Balance Test (mSEBT). One-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was used to compare center of pressure (CoP) data and normalized mSEBT reach distances among the three conditions (with α = 0.05). Results: The CoP parameters (path length, ellipse area, and mean velocity) of the OLST significantly decreased on applying KT and DT compared with those when barefoot. The normalized reach distances in the anteromedial (AM), medial (M), and posteromedial (PM) directions of the mSEBT significantly increased with DT compared to that in the control condition. Further, the higher reach distances with KT compared with those in the control condition were obtained in the M and PM directions of the mSEBT. No significant differences were identified in any of the OLST and SEBT parameters between the two different taping applications. Conclusion: KT and DT improved static postural control during the OLST compared with the control condition. Moreover, these tapes improved dynamic postural control during the mSEBT compared to the control. Therefore, elastic ankle tapings are useful prophylactic devices for the prevention and treatment of ankle sprain in people with CAI.

  • Purpose : The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of foot position on dynamic stability in female with genu varum. M ethods: Eight females with genu varum participated in this study and performed the four squat exercise methods that foot position ($-45^{\circ}$, $0^{\circ}$, $+45^{\circ}$) and $0^{\circ}$ squat with band. Center of pressure (COP; anterior-posterior, medial-lateral, traveled distance, ellipse area) and ground reaction force as dynamic stability were measured using footscan system. Multivariate analysis of variance and one-way repeated analysis of variance measurement with Tukey honestly significant difference were used to identify significant differences of foot angle ($-45^{\circ}$, $0^{\circ}$, $+45^{\circ}$) and $0^{\circ}$ squat with band method. Results: In anterior-posterior COP displacement, $-45^{\circ}$ foot angle and $0^{\circ}$ squat with band were significantly showed lower than $+45^{\circ}$ foot angle squat (p=0.006). Also, in COP traveled distance, $0^{\circ}$ squat was significantly showed lower than $+45^{\circ}$ foot angle (p=0.019). During the descending phase, ground reaction force significantly showed in -45 foot angle was lower than other exercise methods. Conclusion: The $0^{\circ}$ squat with band exercise showed higher dynamic stability and $+45^{\circ}$ foot angle squat exercise showed lower dynamic stability in female with genu varum.

  • In this paper, the abdominal-deformation measurement scheme is conducted on a shape-flexible mannequin using the DIC technique in a stereo-vision system. Firstly, during the integer-pixel displacement search, a novel fractal dimension based on an adaptive-ellipse subset area is developed to track an integer pixel between the reference and deformed images. Secondly, at the subpixel registration, a new mutual-learning adaptive particle swarm optimization (MLADPSO) algorithm is employed to locate the subpixel precisely. Dynamic adjustments of the particle flight velocities that are according to the deformation extent of each interest point are utilized for enhancing the accuracy of the subpixel registration. A test is performed on the abdominal-deformation measurement of the shape-flexible mannequin. The experiment results indicate that under the guarantee of its measurement accuracy without the cause of any loss, the time-consumption of the proposed scheme is significantly more efficient than that of the conventional method, particularly in the case of a large number of interest points.
