더블 PI:PCBM 유전체 층 기반의 초 저전력 CNT 시냅틱 트랜지스터 (Ultra-Low Powered CNT Synaptic Transistor Utilizing Double PI:PCBM Dielectric Layers)

  • We demonstrated a CNT synaptic transistor by integrating 6,6-phenyl-C61 butyric acid methyl ester(PCBM) molecules as charge storage molecules in a polyimide(PI) dielectric layer with carbon nanotubes(CNTs) for the transistor channel. Specifically, we fabricated and compared three different kinds of CNT-based synaptic transistors: a control device with $Al_2O_3/PI$, a single PCBM device with $Al_2O_3/PI:PCBM$(0.1 wt%), and a double PCBM device with $Al_2O_3/PI:PCBM$(0.1 wt%)/PI:PCBM(0.05 wt%). Statistically, essential device parameters such as Off and On currents, On/Off ratio, device yield, and long-term retention stability for the three kinds of transistor devices were extracted and compared. Notably, the double PCBM device exhibited the most excellent memory transistor behavior. Pulse response properties with postsynaptic dynamic current were also evaluated. Among all of the testing devices, double PCBM device consumed such low power for stand-by and its peak current ratio was so large that the postsynaptic current was also reliably and repeatedly generated. Postsynaptic hole currents through the CNT channel can be generated by electrons trapped in the PCBM molecules and last for a relatively short time(~ hundreds of msec). Under one certain testing configuration, the electrons trapped in the PCBM can also be preserved in a nonvolatile manner for a long-term period. Its integrated platform with extremely low stand-by power should pave a promising road toward next-generation neuromorphic systems, which would emulate the brain power of 20 W.

  • An improved power supply for APD(Avalanche Photo Diode) with a received optical power monitoring circuit allows the received optical power increase temporary without of the degradation of the electrical signal. For the cost reduction and simple fabrication, an improved power supply has been proposed that it was designed for driving a APD as a receiving device of a wireless optical transmission system. It was demonstrated that it was possible to improve a dynamic range by compensating the temperature coefficient of the APD up to 1.0 V/$^{\circ}C$ through the power supply. Also, for an efficient transmission at the receiver end, a simple structure of a single cylindrical micro-lens configuration was used in conjunction with the laser diode to partially compensate a laser beam ellipticity. For this purpose, an astigmatism introduced by the micro-lens is utilized for the additional compensation of the beam ellipticity at the receiver end. In this paper, it is demonstrated that an efficient beam shaping is realized by using the proposed configuration consisting of the single lens attached to the laser diode.

  • In this study, analysis of structural design criteria for the canopy actuating device has been conducted considering the aerodynamic breakaway capabilities of jettisonable canopy system. Unsteady aerodynamic loads for the opened canopy configuration at passively controlled jettision mode were computed using CFD method. The general purpose multi-body finite element code, SAMCEF Mecano, is used in the implemented analyses for the passive jettision condition. The recommended altitude and speed of aircraft was suggested as design criteria of aerodynamic breakaway capability of jettisonable canopy system as a bakup egress method when normal canopy jettison sequence malfunctioned. Aerodynamic breakaway condition of jettisonable canopy was also simulated and the fracture load conditions of canopy actuator were investigated.

  • In this study, we suggested a slim-type actuator that can be controlled in radial direction for compensating coma aberration in high-capacity optical storage devices. To deal successfully with narrow space in slim-type optical pick-up for notebook pc device, additional yokes for tilting motion are integrated into main yoke of the actuator. And the location of tilting coils is determined for mass-b3lancing effect to achieve optimal configuration for high driving sensitivity. We also suggested new concept of lens holder to guarantee excellent stability of control system by enhancing the gain margin at secondary resonant frequency. The concept was realized by forming damping sections in the lens holder, which prevent vibrational energy from transferring to lens. An exclusive measurement system was newly developed for fast and precise measurement of dynamic characteristics of actuators and utilized for the practical use. We hope to make good use of this system also in time to come.

Analytic study of a new conceptual propulsion device for ships

  • In this work the possibility of obtaining a rectilinear motion of bodies partially or totally submerged without using propellers is evaluated. The system propulsion is based on a pair of counter rotating masses that generate the thrust. The fluid-body system has been schematized in order to carry out a very simple model. Using this model an evaluation of the body motion along a longitudinal direction was performed. The motion equations of the system were written and integrated. The external forces applied to the body depend on its velocity in relation to the water. These forces were obtained by fluid dynamic simulations. Regarding the mechanical configuration suggested, the results obtained show that a certain displacement of the body along a fixed direction is obtainable.

  • Focusing on the drastic increase of smart devices, machine generated data expansion is a general phenomenon in network services and IoT (Internet of Things). Especially, built-in multi sensors in a smart device are used for collection of user status and moving data. Combining the internal sensor data and environmental information, we can determine landmarks that decide a pedestrian's locations. We use an ANOVA method to analyze data acquired from multi sensors and propose a landmark classification algorithm. We expect that the proposed algorithm can achieve higher accuracy of indoor-outdoor positioning system for pedestrians.

  • This paper presents passive vibration control method to suppress train-induced vibration on a long-span steel arch bridge. According to the train load frequency analysis, undesirable resonance of a bridge will occur when the impact frequency of the train axles are close to the modal frequencies of the bridge. Because the first mode shape of the long-span steel arch bridge may take anti-symmetric shape along the bridge direction, however, the optimal control configuration for resonance suppression should be considered carefully In this study, bridge-vehicle element is used to estimate the bridge-train interaction precisely. From the numerical simulation of a loom steel arch bridge under TGV-K train loading, dynamic magnification influences are evaluated according to vehicle moving speed and efficient control system with passive dampers are presented in order to diminish the vertical displacement and vertical acceleration.

Configuration assessment of MR dampers for structural control using performance-based passive control strategies

  • The use of structural control devices to minimize structural response to seismic/dynamic excitations has attracted increased attention in recent years. The use of magnetorheological (MR) dampers as a control device have captured the attention of researchers in this field due to its flexibility, adaptability, easy control, and low power requirement compared to other control devices. However, little attention has been paid to the effect of configuration and number of dampers installed in a structure on responses reduction. This study assesses the control of a five-story structure using one and two MR dampers at different stories to determine the optimal damper positions and configurations based on performance indices. This paper also addresses the fail-safe current value to be applied to the MR damper at each floor in the event of feedback or control failure. The model is mathematically simulated in SIMULINK/MATLAB environment. Linear control strategies for current at 0 A, 0.5 A, 1 A, 1.5 A, 2 A, and 2.5 A are implemented for MR dampers, and the response of the structure to these control strategies for different configurations of dampers is compared with the uncontrolled structure. Based on the performance indices, it was concluded that the dampers should be positioned starting from the ground floor, then the 2nd floor followed by 1st and rest of the floors sequentially. The failsafe value of current for MR dampers located in lower floors (G+1) should be kept at a higher value compared to dampers at top floors for effective passive control of multi-story structures.

  • 비즈니스 환경에서 BYOD(Bring Your Own Device) 활용은 지속적으로 확대되고 있다. 시스코(Cisco)는 2012년 600개 기업을 대상으로 BYOD 활용에 관한 설문조사를 실시했다. 조사 결과 95%의 기업에서 이미 BYOD 사용을 허용하고 있으며, 업무 생산성이 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 가트너(Gartner)는 BYOD 도입으로 보안위협이 증가할 것으로 예측했으며, 보안위협 완화 방안으로 네트워크 접근통제(Network Access Control, NAC) 도입을 제안했다. 또한 접근통제 중요도에 따라 네트워크 영역을 나누고, 사용자 역할과 단말기 유형을 고려하여 접근통제 정책을 상세히 정의하고, 네트워크에 연결된 모든 단말기에 강제로 적용할 것을 주장했다. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.1X와 DHCP 핑거프린팅(fingerprinting)을 응용하여 네트워크 접근통제를 설계 구현하고, BYOD 환경에 적용하여 접근통제 성능을 해석하고자 한다.

와이브로 휴대기기를 사용한 차량진단 및 모니터링 기술에 관한 연구 (Research on Vehicle Diagnostic and Monitoring technology Using WiBro Portable Device)

  • 본 논문은 와이브로 휴대기기를 이용한 차량의 운행, 고장, 이상 정보의 모니터링 기술에 관한 것으로서, 차량 내부 망(In-Vehicle Network)에 연결된 엔진, 트랜스미션, 브레이크, 에어백 등의 제어장치인 ECU(Electronics Control Unit) 및 각종 센서들로부터의 데이터 획득을 위해 차량내의 OBD-II(On-Board Diagnostics) 커넥터에 차량 정보 수집 장치를 연결한다. 또한, 와이브로 휴대기기(휴대폰, PDA, PMP, UMPC 등)에 차량 진단 프로그램을 탑재하여 차량 주행 중에 발생되는 운행, 고장, 이상 정보를 실시간으로 수집 및 분석하여 이상 징후 발생 시 알림 메시지를 발생하여 차량의 이상에 대해 신속히 대처할 수 있다. 이와 동시에, 휴대기기를 통해 수집된 차량 정보 데이터는 와이브로망을 통해 차량 관리 전문회사의 서버로 전송되어 체계적인 차량 관리에 활용될 수 있어 차량에 대한 지식이나 상식이 부족한 모든 운전자에게 차량 관리에 대한 편리함을 제공하여 안전운전 및 경제운전 등의 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 차량 진단 장치와 유선으로 연결하는 경우 와이어링 하네스에 의한 각종 노이즈가 유입되어 커넥터 내구성이 나빠져 우려가 상존한다. 이러한 어려움을 해결하고자 본 연구에서는 차량에 탑재되는 차량 정보 수집 장치와 운전자가 사용 중인 개인의 와이브로 휴대기기로 차량 진단 및 모니터링이 가능한 시스템을 구성 하였고, 차량 정보 및 상태 자료 공유 연통 플랫폼의 정의에 따른 시스템에 있어서 자료의 획득 및 연동기술을 연구하였다.
