  • Recently, KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has been developing a modern 11.5m diameter four bladed bearingless main rotor system, and this rotor system can be used for 7,000lb class helicopter. Flexbeam and torque tube can be considered as the key structural components, and large elastic twist of flexbeam induced by pitch control motion of torque tube can influence the nonlinear aeroelastic behavior. In this paper, the dynamic characteristic analysis results of bearingless rotor system were presented. In order to construct a input model and validate the analysis procedures, calculated results using the comprehensive helicopter analysis program CAMRAD II were compared with the measured natural frequencies and lag damping data from small-scale wind tunnel test. Next, the analysis model was extended to a full-scale model, and the dynamic analysis results were presented.

  • In this paper, methodology of battery optimal designing is proposed. Fuel cell model including dynamic characteristic is developed and load model is produced by considering driving schedule. Using these models, required energy of load and supplying energy from fuel cell are analyzed by comparing simulation results. Also parameter of fuel cell model is changed variously and battery capacity is calculated in each cases. And methode of battery optimal designing is presented by regarding dynamic characteristic of fuel cell.

  • This paper deals with deterministic PI controller design based on dynamic characteristics for refrigeration system. The temperature control system of an oil cooler is described as a typical 2nd order model of the refrigeration system which has zeros in a transfer function. PI controller gains satisfying control specifications are represented by the dynamic characteristic functions using relationship between the parameters and the control specifications in the model. Phase margin was considered to increase robustness of the oil cooler control system. Furthermore, the influence of zeros in the model to the control specifications was analyzed in detail for improving control performance. The validity of the suggested PI controller design was investigated using the four types of gains which had been already confirmed their control performances through experiments.

  • An approach to identifying input forces is proposed using measured structural dynamic responses and its analytical model. The identification of input forces is a reverse process and ill-conditioned problem. Its solution is unstable and generally case dependent. In this paper, the ill-condition is described considering characteristic matrix which is defined by reduced dynamic stiffness matrix. Special attention is focused on the condition number of a characteristic matrix used in the solution algorithm of this reverse process. Simple example is presented in support of the ill-condition of a reverse process.

  • The large underground structure under earthquake is affected more by soil dynamic characteristic and volume of structure than by structural dynamic characteristic itself. Therefore, it is the purpose of research that the aseismic analysis for caverns including various aseismic analysis factors (rock quality-Q value, soil dynamic characteristic, shape ratio $&$ volume, underground structural dynamic characteristic, and aseismic level) are applied by using the numerical analysis program (SAUS; seismic analysis of underground structures). The result of research is stated that maximum strain, maximum moment, and maximum shear are not sensitive with respect to shape ratio. However those values are sensitive with respect to Q value, volume of underground structure and aseismic level. Based on the results of this research, the assessment for the influence factors of aseismic analysis for large underground structure could be possible.

  • Welding variables and conditions in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) effect on the weld quality and productivity, extensive research efforts have been made to analyze the welding variables and conditions. In this study dynamic behavior of GMAW system is investigated using the characteristic equations of the power supply, wire and welding arc. Characteristic equation of wire is modified to include the effect of droplets attached at the electrode tip. The dynamic characteristics of arc length, current, voltage with respect to the step, ramp inputs of CTWD was simulated, seam tracking procedure using arc sensor was simulated with variable V-Groove geometries and weaving frequencies. From results of simulation, some predictions about dynamic characteristics of GMAW and welding process are available. The proposed simulator and results appear to be utilized to determine the proper welding conditions, to be improved by considering power supply dynamic characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the algorithm for dynamic interaction analysis of submerged floating tunnel and vehicles. The dynamic behavior characteristic of submerged floating tunnel is certainly different with general structures, because the submerged floating tunnel is floating in the middle of water, and subjected to constant buoyance. Therefore the analyses in various aspects should be carried out to secure structural stability and practicality of structures. To conduct the dynamic interaction analysis, the structure is modeled by commercial FEM program ABAQUS to investigate modal characteristic. Also the added mass concept is applied to represent the inertial force by a fluid, and then dynamic interaction analyses are conducted with superposition method when the KTX is moving along the submerged floating tunnel. And the time histories are presented for vertical and lateral displacement at the center of the tunnel.
