  • Purpose: Liquid beta emitter filled in angioplasty balloon could be used to perform endovascular balloon brachytherapy to prevent coronary artery restenosis. We investigated the dosimetry for Re-188-DTPA liquid-filled balloon and medical internal radiation dosimetry in case of balloon leakage. Materials and Methods: We estimated radiation dose from an angioplasty balloon (20 mm length, 3 mm diameter cylinder) to the adjacent vessel wall using Monte Carlo EGS4 code. We obtained time-activity curves of kidneys in normal dog and calculated $T_{max},\;T_{1/2}$. Using MIRDOSE3 program, we estimated absorbed doses to the major organs (kidneys, bladder) and the whole body when we assumed that balloon leaked all the isotope contained. Results: The radiation dose was 17.5 Gy at the balloon surface when we applied 3,700 MBq/ml of Re-188 for 100 seconds, Fifty percent of the energy deposited within 1 mm from the balloon surface. The estimated internal dose to the whole body was 0.005 mGy/MBq and 18.5 mGy for the spillage of 3,700 MBq of Re-188. Conclusion: We suggest that Re-188-DTPA can be used for endovascular balloon brachytherapy to inhibit coronary artery restenosis after angioplasty with tolerable whole body radiation dose in case of balloon rupture.

  • Molecular methods were employed to investigate microorganisms in a thermophilic continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR) used for continuous $H_2$ production. The reactor was inoculated with heat-treated anaerobic sludge and fed with a glucose-based medium. Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis showed dynamic changes of bacterial populations in the reactor during 43 days of operation. Gas composition was constant from approximately 14 days but population shift still occurred. Populations affiliated with Fervidobactrium gondwanens and Thermoanaerobacterium thermosaccharolyticum were dominant on 21 and 41 days, respectively. Keeping pH of the medium at 5.0 could suppress methanogenic activity that was detected during initial operation period. $CH_4$ and mcrA detected in the samples obtained from the reactor or inoculum suggested the heat treatment condition employed in this study is not enough to remove methanogens in the inoculum. PCR using primer sets specific to 4 main orders of methanogens suggested that major $H_2$-consuming methanogens in the CSTR belong to the order Methanobacteriales.

  • In Korea, more than 70% of the ammonia(NH3) released into the atmosphere is known to originate from livestock manure. The total emission (kg year-1) is calculated by multiplying the emission factor (kg head-1 yr-1) and the activity data (head). To improve the accuracy and reliability of the NH3 emission estimation process, an accurate account of livestock manure production, calculation of NH3 conversion and generation during the composting and liquefaction of manure, estimation of NH3 generation in the storage and transportation of manure and compost, and a comparative study of NH3 emission during the soil spreading process must be performed. Compared to the US and EU-28, in particular, the domestic emission factor is relatively even and the spatial/temporal scale is not broken down sufficiently to reflect the domestic situation. As a way to improve the accuracy and expertise of estimating NH3 emission factors, a 'dynamic chamber-capture system' can be utilized, which allows complex considerations of compost, liquid manure, soil, and climate characteristics. By reviewing and comparing the data related to domestic and foreign NH3 emission, we identified shortcomings in the current domestic system and the directions to be taken and suggested a chamber system that could estimate NH3 emission flux. It is also necessary to establish a methodology for mesocosm systems in the field, in addition to indoor chamber systems, to be linked with practical policies, such as the calculation of new emission factors for missing sources.

  • Recent global warming seems to be dramatic and has influenced forest ecosystems. Changes in phonology of biota, species distribution range shift and catastrophic climatic disasters due to recent global warming have been observed during the last century. Korean forests located mainly in the temperate zone also have been experienced climatic change impacts including shifting of leafing and flowering phonology, changes in natural disasters and forest productivity, However, little research has been conducted on the impact of climate change on forest ecosystems in Korea which is essential to assess the impact and extent of adaptation. Also there is a shortage in basic long-term data of forest ecosystem processes. Careful data collection and ecological process modeling should be focused on characteristic Korean forest ecosystems which are largely complex terrain that might have hindered research activities. An integrative ecosystem study which covers forest dynamics, biological diversity, water and carbon flux and cycles in a forest ecosystem and spatial and temporal dynamics modeling is introduced. Global warming effects on Korean forest ecosystems are reviewed. Forestry activity and the importance of forest ecosystems as a dynamic carbon reservoir are discussed. Forest management options and challenges for future research, impact assessment, and preparation of mitigating measures in Korea are proposed.

  • This study investigates the change of everyday's labor and leisure time in South Korea during the last two decades in which her economy has been changed from manufacturing-oriented industry to services or technology and knowledge-oriented industry. Generally speaking, the changing patterns of everyday's labor and leisure time in South Korea from 1981 to 2000 are very complex and dynamic. So it is very careful for us to simply assert the fact that everyday's labor time is decreased and everyday's leisure time is increased due to the deindustrialization of a capitalist country. Specifically, the changes of everyday's labor and leisure time in South Korea are varied in terms of socio-economic and spatial perspective. The labor time of all kinds of occupations has been increased at the weekday during the last two decades, but the leisure time of those except technical occupation has been decreased at the weekend. The socio-economy of South Korea after the 1990s became dependent on more educated workers than less ones. Also the more educated people work hard at the weekday, but they get more leisure time at the weekend. In terms of spatial perspectives, the South Korean economy has become dependent on the workers in cities, particularly large ones more than those in rural regions because of the rapidly established industrialization and urbanization after the early 1980s. The time of people's spatial movement is directly proportional to the levels of education both at the weekday and the weekend during the last two decades.

  • This study is an attempt to grasp the fundamental characteristics and core structures of Bibliodrama, which has recently received a lot of attention in various fields including Christian education. Bibliodrama is a guided form of process-oriented staging of biblical texts in groups with the aim of mutually opening up the text and the biography of the participants in the implementation of holistic encounters (H. Aldebert). In the background of the birth of Bibliodrama can be found the hermeneutical efforts of the biblical scholar Walter Wink who sentenced the bankruptcy of historical criticism. He laid the biblical interpretative foundation for Bibliodrama which combines Bible and body. German theologian Gerhard Marcel Martin had a new experience of seeing the Bible through body activity during his life in New York, and based on that experience he began to work on the Bibliodrama. And the New Testament scholar Tim Schramm, who focused on the TCI (themecentered interaction) movement, found the optimal methodology to embody the interaction of biblical studies in Bibliodrama. On the other hand, Peter Pitzele, who wanted to realize the Bibliodrama in the tradition of Midrash, has developed a new type of Bibliodrama (Bibliolog) that is different from the European Bibliodrama. When we put together the positions of the pioneers of Bibliodrama, it turns out that it has three fundamental characteristics: body, interaction, and the empty space of the Bible. The body refers to the personality of learners participating in the Bibliodrama. They are not passive participants, but voluntary and active participants. Interaction is realized through the dramatic way of Bibliodrama. Bibliodrama aims for a dynamic process in which hermeneutical interaction occurs. The empty space of the Bible, which Bibliodrama pays attention to, allows us to understand why the Bible is not a fixed word but a living word that is still heard today. In order to understand the Bible as the content of education, Bibliodrama liberates the text that is fixed in a literal way and gives life by paying attention to the empty space of the Bible and reading it slowly.

  • The dynamic evolution of the Chugaryeong fault valley is studied by paleomagnetic works on 163 samples at 16 sites from Late Cretaceous and Quaternary volcanic rocks in the valley. Conglomerate test and stepwised thermal/alternating field demagnetization indicate that all the characteristic directions are of primary origin. Paleomagnetic pole ponsition(216.8$^{\circ}$E/7l .6$^{\circ}$N; dp=7.1$^{\circ}$, dm=10.0$^{\circ}$) for the upper par of the Jijangbong Volcanic Complex Is indistinguishable from the coeval retference pole position from the Gyeongsang Basin, which further substanciates the reliability of the Paleomagnetic data. This indicates the study area has not undergone any tectonic rotation since Late Cretaceous by uy significant reactivation of the Chugaryeong fault valley. The Quaternary pole position (134.2$^{\circ}$E/86.5$^{\circ}$N; $A_{95}$=7.1 $^{\circ}$) from the Jeongog Basalt reflects the present geocentric axial dipole field for the area, supporting the above conclusion. Unlike the upper part, paleomasnelic directions of the lower part of the Jijangbong Volcanic Complex show random distrinution between sites. We interpret that the early stage of the volcanic activity was created by sinistral strike slip motion of the Chugaryeong fault during early Late Cretaceous. The creation and evolution of the Chugaryeong fault valley emphasize the significance of the kinematic FR (folding ruler) model in east Asia.

  • Objectives This study was performed to investigate the effects of Bujasasim-tang ethanol extract (BST) on oxidative stress, inflammation and osteoarthritic rat model. Methods To ensure safety of BST, heavy metal levels were measured and cytotoxicity test was done. In vitro, To evaluate antioxidative effects of BST, total phenolic contents, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) scavenging activity, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were measured. Also, to evaluate anti-inflammatory effects of BST treated group, total nitric oxide (NO) and pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$) levels were measured in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. In vivo, We injected MIA $50{\mu}l$ (60 mg/ml) into knee joints of rats to induce osteoarthritis. Rats were divided into total 3 groups (normal, control, BST treated group, each n=7). Normal group was not treated at all without inducing osteoarthritis and taken normal diet. Control group was induced osteoarthritis by MIA and taken with 2 ml of distilled water once a day for 4 weeks. BST treated group was induced osteoarthritis by MIA and taken BST 2 ml (200 mg/kg/mouse) once a day for 4 weeks. We evaluated dynamic weight bearing with the Incapacitance Test Meter. At the end of experiment, the rats were sacrificed to observe the functions of liver and kidney, changes of WBC, neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte levels in blood, to evaluate the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, tissue inhibitor of metallopreteinases-1 (TIMP-1), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$), leukotriene $B_4$ ($LTB_4$) within serum. We observed change of articular structures by Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E), safranin-O staining method and measured amount of cartilage by micro CT-arthrography. Statistical analysis was done by unpaired student's t-test with significance level at p<0.05 in SPSS 11.0 for windows. Results 1. Safety of the BST was identified. 2. AST, ALT, BUN, creatinine levels of BST treated group were within normal limit. In vitro, 1. DPPH and ABTS free radical scavenging activities of BST showed dose-dependent increase. 2. ROS production were significantly decreased. 3. Total nitric oxide (NO) and IL-$1{\beta}$ production were decreased. 4. IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ production were significantly decreased. In vivo, 1. Weight bearing ability was significantly increased. 2. WBC, neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte levels in blood were decreased. 3. IL-$1{\beta}$ and TNF-${\alpha}$ levels in serum were significantly decreased. and the IL-6 level was decreased. 4. TIMP-1, MMP-9, $LTB_4$, $PGE_2$ levels in serum were significantly decreased. 5. Cartilage volume of BST treated group was significantly increased. Also changes of cartilage, synovial membrane, fibrous tissue were suppressed. Conclusions The results obtained in this study Bujasasim-tang have effects of antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, relieve pain and protection of cartilage. Therefore we expect that Bujasasim-tang is effective treatment for osteoarthritis.

  • The object of this study was to analyze the speciality of Korean traditional waterscape and unique landscape formed with reflection of the phases of the time sat the area of Juhabru(宙合樓) in Changdeok Palace as a basic research to find the prototype of Taeaek pond at Changdeok Palace and restoration of the palace. Originally, Taeaek pond at Changdeok Palace was constructed in KingInjo(仁祖) period as a name of Yongji(龍池), later it called Taeaek pond after King Sukjong(肅宗). There is an island as a symbol of the immortal isle, and Chungseojeong(淸署亭), Taiksujae(澤水齋) and Buyongjeong(芙蓉亭) which were built to view the waterscape in Taeaek pond. Buildings were built asymmetrical balance around Taeaek pond because of the morphological character of tetragonal pond. Arrangement of this area has a definite form of axial structure. Yeolgokwan(閱古觀) Gaeyuwa(皆有窩), pavilions, bridges, islands, Osumoon(魚水門) and Juhabru are located on the north and south axis, and island and Osumoon play a role as a intersection and form an east of west axis. In this study, manual of construction for an island and pavilions is provided by analyzing transformational process of island and pavilions at Taeaek pond. Furthermore, kings and officials used to statically enjoy the view around Taeaek pond area, but dynamic fishing and boating activity happened in King Jungjo(正祖) period. These historical backgrounds have an influence on the spatial organization of Taeaek pond. For instance, bridge between Taeaek pond and island was destroyed with the increase of the importance of boating. Symbolic structure around Taeaek pond means 'fish changes to dragon' and 'both of king and officials become one'. Taiksujai, carving fish, Osumoon and Juhabru are provided as a related spatial factors.

  • The priority of requirement is important because the priority is a critical activity of release plan especially in software development which has an open market customer. Also, it is important for stakeholders to select a method and aspects to prioritize requirements. The selection is based on the organizational experience of a priority process, the process model of the product, goals and a type of products, and dependencies between requirements. But, the current researches considered only static dependency between requirements and did not suggest a systematic priority process. In addition, the current researches only suggest limited aspects to prioritize requirements, such as cost and value. Therefore, this paper proposes an adjustable priority process based on a priority model to select a method and aspects for the suitable priority for product and organization. Especially, this paper enhances the completeness of a release plan by a definition of static and dynamic dependency types between requirements. This paper suggests a priority model, which considers the dependencies between requirement and various viewpoint of software development. Based on the priority model, the paper suggests a systematic priority process to promote reasonable decisions to the priority and release plan of requirement.
