The current paper discusses the dynamic and stability responses of cross-ply composite laminated plates by employing a refined quasi-3D trigonometric shear deformation theory. The proposed theory takes into consideration shear deformation and thickness stretching by a trigonometric variation of in-plane and transverse displacements through the plate thickness and assures the vanished shear stresses conditions on the upper and lower surfaces of the plate. The strong point of the new formulation is that the displacements field contains only 4 unknowns, which is less than the other shear deformation theories. In addition, the present model considers the thickness extension effects (εz≠0). The presence of the Winkler-Pasternak elastic base is included in the mathematical formulation. The Hamilton's principle is utilized in order to derive the four differentials' equations of motion, which are solved via Navier's technique of simply supported structures. The accuracy of the present 3-D theory is demonstrated by comparing fundamental frequencies and critical buckling loads numerical results with those provided using other models available in the open literature.
The dynamic behaviors of the single vortex interacting with $CH_4-Air$ jet diffusion flame are investigated numerically. The numerical method is based on a predict-corrector scheme for a low Mach number flow. A two-step global reaction mechanism is adopted as a combustion model. Studies are conducted in fixed initial velocities for the three cases according as where $CO_2$ is added; (1) without dilution, (2) dilution in fuel stream and (3) dilution in oxidizer stream. A single vortex is generated by an axisymmetric jet, which is made by an impulse of a cold fuel when a flame is developed entirely in a computational domain. The simulation shows that $CO_2$ dilution in fuel stream results in somewhat larger vortex radius, and greater amount of entrainment of surrounding fluid than in other cases. Thus, the dilution of $CO_2$ in fuel stream enhances the mixing in single vortex and increases the stretching of the flame surface. The budgets of the vorticity transport equation are examined to reveal the mechanism of vortex formation when $CO_2$ is added. It is found that, in the case of $CO_2$ dilution in fuel stream, the vortex destruction due to volumetric expansion and the vortex production due to baroclinic torque are more dominant than in other cases.
The structure of water molecules in the pure liquid state has been subjected to extensive research for several decades. Questions still remain unanswered, however, and no single model has been found capable of explaining all the anomalies of water. In the present study near-infrared spectra of water in the temperature region 6-$80^{\circ}C$ have been analysed by use of principal component analysis (PCA) and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy in order to study the dynamic behaviour of the water band centred at 1440 nm, which is due to the combination of symmetric and antisymmetric O-H stretching modes. It has been found that the wavelengths 1412 and 1491 nm account for more than 99% of the spectral variation, representing two major water species with weaker and stronger hydrogen bonds, respectively. A third species located at 1438 nm, whose concentration was relatively constant as a function of temperature, is also indicated. A somewhat distorted two-state structural model for water is suggested.
A new quasi-3D higher shear deformation theory (quasi-3D HSDT) for functionally graded plates is proposed in this article. The theory considers both shear deformation and thickness-stretching influences by a hyperbolic distribution of all displacements within the thickness, and respects the stress-free boundary conditions on the upper and lower surfaces of the plate without using any shear correction factor. The highlight of the proposed theory is that it uses undetermined integral terms in displacement field and involves a smaller number of variables and governing equations than the conventional quasi-3D theories, but its solutions compare well with 3D and quasi-3D solutions. Equations of motion are obtained from the Hamilton principle. Analytical solutions for buckling and dynamic problems are deduced for simply supported plates. Numerical results are presented to prove the accuracy of the proposed theory.
Recent experimental observations support the hypothesis that mechanical stimuli play a role in regulating the specialized molecular expression of articular cartilage in vitro and in vivo. Other studies have demonstrated that the continuous passive motion(CPM)bioreactor for whole joints can provide a platform for possible future in vitro studies and applications, including possible interactions of bio-mechanical and biochemical signals. In this study, we have developed acustom-made bioreactor capable of bending and stretching with circular type motion, and a biomimetic knee joint model, using a 3D printer. This system could be used to investigate the effects of rehabilitative joint motion of dynamic culture.

In this manuscript, static and dynamic behaviors of geometrically imperfect carbon nanotubes (CNTs) subject to different types of end conditions are investigated. The Doublet Mechanics (DM) theory, which is length scale dependent theory, is used in the analysis. The Euler-Bernoulli kinematic and nonlinear mid-plane stretching effect are considered through analysis. The governing equation of imperfect CNTs is a sixth order nonlinear integro-partial-differential equation. The buckling problem is discretized via the differential-integral-quadrature method (DIQM) and then it is solved using Newton's method. The equation of linear vibration problem is discretized using DIQM and then solved as a linear eigenvalue problem to get natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes. The DIQM results are compared with analytical ones available in the literature and excellent agreement is obtained. The numerical results are depicted to illustrate the influence of length scale parameter, imperfection amplitude and shear foundation constant on critical buckling load, post-buckling configuration and linear vibration behavior. The current model is effective in designing of NEMS, nano-sensor and nano-actuator manufactured by CNTs.
Clay suspensions in liquid polymers exhibit a time-dependent behaviour that includes viscoelastic as well as thixotropic features. Because of the presence of interacting clay platelets, particulate networks can develop, which are broken down during flow and rebuild upon cessation of the flow. Here, the use of thixotropic techniques in probing flow-induced structures in nanocomposites is explored with data on a hectorite-poly(isobutylene) model system. By means of fast stress jump measurements the hydrodynamic contributions to the steady state stresses are determined as well as those caused by the stretching of the clay floes. Flow reversal measurements do not provide a clear indication of flow-induced anisotropy in the present case. The recovery of the clay microstructure upon cessation of flow is followed by means of overshoot and dynamic measurements. The development of a particulate network is detected by the appearance and growth of a low frequency plateau of the storage moduli. The modulus-frequency curves after various rest times collapse onto universal master curves, regardless of the pre-shear history or temperature. The scaling factors for this master curve are the crossover parameters. The crossover moduli are nearly a linear function of the crossover frequency, the relation being identical for recovery after shearing at different shear rates. This function depends, however, on temperature.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was carried out to investigate the effect of plyometric training combined with core strength training on the balance and agility of adolescent soccer players. METHODS: A total of 36 subjects participated in this study. Subjects were randomly divided 3 groups and assigned PG (plyometric training group), CSG (core strength training group) and PCG (plyometric training combined with core strength training group). Each group was assigned to 12. Intervention was performed three times a week for 4 weeks. The training was performed for 60 minutes a day. Subjects were warmed up for 10 minutes, and performed main exercise for 40 minutes. Finally, subjects performed cool-down exercise including stretching for 10 minutes. A Statistical analysis was performed the paired t-test for the comparison pre and post intervention. A comparison among the groups was using one-way ANOVA, and the LSD was used for the post-test. RESULTS: The balance and agility were statistically significant differences in all group (p<.05). There was no significant difference in the balance factors between the three groups, but there was a significant difference in the agility factor (p<.05). CONCLUSION: Plyometric training and plyometric training combined with core strength training were effective for the balance and agility of adolescent soccer players.
