근사 선탐색을 이용한 동적 반응 최적화 (Dynamic response optmization using approximate search)

  • An approximate line search is presented for dynamic response optimization with Augmented Lagrange Multiplier(ALM) method. This study empolys the approximate a augmented Lagrangian, which can improve the efficiency of the ALM method, while maintaining the global convergence of the ALM method. Although the approximate augmented Lagragian is composed of only the linearized cost and constraint functions, the quality of this approximation should be good since an approximate penalty term is found to have almost second-order accuracy near the optimum. Typical unconstrained optimization algorithms such as quasi-Newton and conjugate gradient methods are directly used to find exact search directions and a golden section method followed by a cubic polynomial approximation is empolyed for approximate line search since the approximate augmented Lagrangian is a nonlinear function of design variable vector. The numberical performance of the proposed approach is investigated by solving three typical dynamic response optimization problems and comparing the results with those in the literature. This comparison shows that the suggested approach is robust and efficient.

Tree search approach to the control of a pendulum

  • This paper presents a tree search technique to solve the dynamic control problems. To illustrate the proposed procedure, the swinging control of a pendulum carried by a motor-driven cast is discussed as an example. Since the control system is of two degrees and the control problem is a nonlinear one, it is difficult to determine a swinging control rule analytically. However, by means of the proposed tree search approach, the problem can be solved in a relatively easy way. Some numerical calculations axe performed to verify the methodology. The result of the study shows that the proposed tree search technique is suitable for the dynamic control problems, in particular, for the complicated nonlinear dynamic control problem.

Winning Back Attendance: Effects of Winning Performance, Online Search, and the MLB Rule Changes for More Dynamic Games

  • As Major League Baseball (MLB)'s continuous decline in popularity has caused its game attendance to drop gradually, the league makes a desperate attempt such as game rule changes to remain relevant. Along with the introduction of new rules to make games more dynamic such as the pitch clock, bigger bases, and defensive shift limitations, it is important for MLB franchises to understand drivers for game attendance. We focus on the effect of accumulated winning performance of the two teams on game attendance, one of the key drivers of game attendance, and investigate how it is influenced by consumer and industry factors such as online search and game rule changes. We find that game attendance increases as the prior winning performance of the home (away) team increases (decreases). We also find that online search and rule changes for more dynamic games moderate the effect of winning performance on game attendance.

  • 본 논문은 동역학 모델을 적용한 양방향 군 탐색구조 시스템의 시작품 제작에 대한 내용을 기술한다. USRP 개발 플랫폼과 단말기와 위성간의 통신을 상용 LTE망에 COSPAS-SARSAT 규격인 Spread Spectrum 방식의 신호체계를 USRP에 구현한 결과이다. 또한 구현된 결과의 정당성을 확인하기 위해 동역학 모델을 적용한 COSPAS-SARSAT 기반의 RF신호 처리를 USRP 테스트베드에 적용하여 실제적인 성능평가를 수행하였다. 향후 TDOA와 FDOA의 상관관계를 이용하는 CAF 알고리즘을 이용하여 보다 정확한 지상측위에 적용하고자 한다.

A Study for Global Optimization Using Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches

  • This paper analyzes properties of the recently developed nonlinear optimization method, Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches (DEAS) [1]. DEAS locates local minima with binary strings (or binary matrices for multi-dimensional problems) by iterating the two operators; bisectional search (BSS) and unidirectional search (UDS). BSS increases binary strings by one digit (i.e., zero or one), while UDS performs increment or decrement to binary strings with no change of string length. Owing to these search routines, DEAS retains the optimization capability that combines the special features of several conventional optimization methods. In this paper, a special feature of BSS and UDS in DEAS is analyzed. In addition, a effective global search strategy is established by using information of DEAS. Effectiveness of the proposed global search strategy is validated through the well-known benchmark functions.

웹 검색 성능 최적화를 위한 융합적 방식 (Fusion Approach for Optimizing Web Search Performance)

  • 이 논문은 시스템 성능을 최적화하기 위해 정적 및 동적 튜닝 방법을 이용한 웹 융합검색 연구의 내용을 보고합니다. 기존의 융합 방식을 넘어선 "다이나믹 튜닝"이라는 과정을 도입하여 웹의 다양한 정보소스의 기여를 최적화 시킬 수 있는 융합 공식을 생성하는 방법을 조사한 이 연구의 결과는 웹 검색 환경의 풍요로운 여러 데이터 소스를 활용하는 것이 효과적인 전략이라는 것을 보여주었습니다. 본 연구에서는 즉각적인 시스템 피드백 인지분석을 기반으로 융합 매개 변수를 미세 조정하는 반복적 인 다이나믹 튜닝 과정을 통해 크게 검색 성능을 향상시킬 수 있었습니다.

Experimental Comparisons of Leading Display and RSVP Display of Chinese Dynamic Text in Searching Tasks

  • Objective: This study investigates user performance and user perceptions of dynamic Chinese text displays (Leading display and RSVP display) when users search for target information. Background: Today, information searching with dynamic displays is widely used in TV programs, on Internet advertisements, for traffic information systems, and more. Method: A human factors experiment was conducted to compare both displays. Eighteen subjects participated in evaluating two simulated interfaces for the leading display and the RSVP display. Results: The results show that the leading display was better in terms of search time and certain subjective measurements (Easiness, frustration, anxiety). The latter results are consistent with the conclusions of other research efforts showing that dynamic displays are more effective and efficient when reading information. Conclusion: The leading display is more useful for Chinese users in terms of both information searching and information reading. Application: This study helps design dynamic displays written in Chinese texts.

On the Global Convergence of Univariate Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches (uDEAS)

  • This paper analyzes global convergence of the univariate dynamic encoding algorithm for searches (uDEAS) and provides an application result to function optimization. uDEAS is a more advanced optimization method than its predecessor in terms of the number of neighborhood points. This improvement should be validated through mathematical analysis for further research and application. Since uDEAS can be categorized into the generating set search method also established recently, the global convergence property of uDEAS is proved in the context of the direct search method. To show the strong performance of uDEAS, the global minima of four 30 dimensional benchmark functions are attempted to be located by uDEAS and the other direct search methods. The proof of global convergence and the successful optimization result guarantee that uDEAS is a reliable and effective global optimization method.

  • 최근 몇 년 동안 중소기업의 비즈니스 혁신 모델은 주목 받는 연구주제로 부상하였으며, 중소기업의 혁신과 발전을 촉진하고 경제적 전환과 성장을 촉진하는 중요한 이유로 인식되고 있다. 본 논문은 중국 중소기업의 국경간 검색 및 동적 능력이 기업 비즈니스 혁신 모델에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있다. 영향 요인과 관련하여 연구모형을 수립하고 설문 조사를 통하여 관련 데이터를 수집하였다. 연구 결과, 중국 중소기업의 국경간 검색과 동적 역량이 중소기업 비즈니스 혁신 모델에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 동적 역량이 국경간 검색과 기업 비즈니스 혁신 모델 사이에서 중개 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 중국 중소기업의 비즈니스 모델 혁신에 일정한 시사점을 제공하였다.
