Effects of the fitness among Entrepreneurship, Dynamic capabilities and Innovation activities on Business performance (기업가정신과 동적역량, 혁신활동의 적합성이 경영성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study is to examine the effect of fitness among entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities and innovation activities on business performance. A survey was conducted and analyzed on small & medium manufacturing companies in Korea with the following result of the study. First, the fitness of entrepreneurship and dynamic capabilities, the fitness of dynamic capabilities and innovation activities, the fitness of entrepreneurship and innovation activities have a significant effect on business performance respectively. Second, the fitness of all the three variables also has a significant positive effect on the performance. Additional path analysis shows that dynamic capabilities and innovation activities have mediating roles between entrepreneurship and business performance. The results imply that not only each of the entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities, and innovation activities has a positive effect on business performance but also the three factors in harmony have a synergic positive effect on the business performance.

  • Durability performance evaluation technology using Virtual Testing Method is a new concept of a vehicle design, which can reduce the automotive components design period and cost. In this paper, the fatigue life of an aluminum knuckle of a passenger car is evaluated using virtual testing method. The flexible multibody dynamic model of a front half car module is generated and solved with service loads which are measured from Belgian roads. Using a multibody dynamic analysis software, the flexible multibody dynamic simulation of a half car model is carried out and the dynamic stress profile of an aluminum knuckle is acquired. The stress profile is exported to a fatigue analysis software and durability performance of an aluminum knuckle is evaluated.

  • Based on the dynamic anti-windup strategy a novel control methodology for state constrained control systems is presented. First a linear controller is designed for an open-loop stable plant to show a desirable nominal performance by ignoring state constraints. And then an additional dynamic compensator is introduced to preserve the nominal performance as closely as possible int he face of state constraints. This paper focuses on the second step under the assumption that a linear controller has already been designed appropriately by using an effective controller design method. By minimizing a reasonable performance index the dynamic compensator is derived explicitly which is expressed int he plant and controller parameters. the proposed method not only guarantees the total stability of the overall resulting systems but also provides desirable output performance because it solves the state-positioning problem completely.

  • Due to the insulation and the air-tightness requirement in modern buildings have resulted NBS(New Building Syndrome) and SBS(Sick Building Syndrome) of IAQ problems. Therefore, energy efficient way of solving such IAQ issues are of major concern in these days and building industries. This paper introduces a method to improve thermal performance with a DI(Dynamic Insulation) concept. The characteristic of the dynamic insulation is that the lower U-value as the higher air velocity through the DI in a micro level. A thermal performance monitoring study has been conducted to show the energy impact of porous DI over the static insulation material. The results show that up to 45% could be improved in the case with DI compared to the conventional insulation.

  • Direct cutting tests was carried out to evaluate the dynamic performance of lathes under various cutting conditions. Significant factors influencing the chatter limits were identified through use of analysis of variance. Dynamic performances of two lathes were compared and the merits and drawbacks of the direct cutting test were discussed. Exciting-direct-cutting test method was newly proposed as a more rational method of dynamic performance test. The basic theory and experiments of the test were explained. The results shows that the method can be used as a powerful tool for the evaluation and the improvement of dynamic performance of machine tools.

  • This paper describes a controller design and dynamic performance analysis of UPFC based on 3-level inverters. Major attention is focused on the controller design for both shunt and series inverters, including regulator design for the dc link voltage sharing across the dc capacitors. An energy-based approach was investigated for effectively designing the controller. A detailed UPFC model has been developed with EMTP using 24-pulse 3-level inverters to verify this approach. Simulation results about dynamic performance of UPFC confirm effects for increasing transmission capacity and damping low-frequency oscillation. The developed simulation model would be very effective to analyze the dynamic performance of UPFC.

  • The dynamic performance design of catenary-pantograph system which collects current for the next generation Korean high speed train(KHST) was considered. Used was the same dynamic model of the catenary-pantograph system as that of TGV-K which will be introduced for Kyung-bu corridor. Using the model , sensitivity analysis fer design variables were made to improve dynamic performance of KHST system. The results of sensitivity analysis and performance improvement are as follows: (1) It was found that aerodynamic force, tension of contact wire, mass of contact strip, mass of supporting contact strip, mass of clamp, mass of steady arm, and stiffness of plunger were the design variables most influencing the dynamic performance of the system. (2) Pantograph with reductions of 20% aerodynamic force, 34% weight of supporting contact strip, 20% spring constant of plunger, and 34% equivalent mass of steady arm was very possible system for the KHST which will be running at maximum operating speed 350 km/h.

  • In visual simultaneous localization and mapping (vSLAM), the correct recognition of a place benefits in relocalization and improved map accuracy. However, its performance is significantly affected by the environmental conditions such as variation in light, viewpoints, seasons, and presence of dynamic objects. This research addresses the problem of feature occlusion caused by interference of dynamic objects leading to the poor performance of visual place recognition algorithm. To overcome the aforementioned problem, this research analyzes the role of scene semantics in correct detection of a place in challenging environments and presents a semantics aided visual place recognition method. Semantics being invariant to viewpoint changes and dynamic environment can improve the overall performance of the place matching method. The proposed method is evaluated on the two benchmark datasets with dynamic environment and seasonal changes. Experimental results show the improved performance of the visual place recognition method for vSLAM.

Improving the Dynamic Performance of Distribution Electronic Power Transformers Using Sliding Mode Control

  • These days, the application of electronic power transformers (EPTs) is expanding in place of ordinary power transformers. These transformers can transmit power via three or four wire converters. Their dynamic performance is extremely important, due to their complex structure. In this paper, a new method is proposed for improving the dynamic performance of distribution electronic power transformers (DEPT) by using sliding mode control (SMC). Hence, to express the dynamic characteristics of a system, different factors such as the voltage unbalance, voltage sag, voltage harmonics and voltage flicker in the system primary side are considered. The four controlling aims of the improvement in dynamic performance include: 1) maintaining the input currents so that they are in sinusoidal form and in phase with the input voltages so they have a unity power factor, 2) keeping the dc-link voltage within the reference amount, 3) keeping the output voltages at a fixed amount and 4) keeping the output voltages in sinusoidal and symmetrical forms. Simulation results indicate the potential and capability of the proposed method in improving DEPT behavior.

Dynamic stiffness analysis of steel-concrete composite beams

  • An exact dynamic stiffness method is introduced for investigating the free vibration characteristics of the steel-concrete composite beams consisting of a reinforced concrete slab and a steel beam which are connected by using the stud connectors. The elementary beam theory is used to define the dynamic behaviors of the two beams and the relative transverse deformation of the connectors is included in the formulation. The dynamic stiffness matrix is formulated from the exact analytical solutions of the governing differential equations of the composite beams in undamped free vibration. The application of the derived dynamic stiffness matrix is illustrated to predict the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the steel-concrete composite beams with seven boundary conditions. The present results are compared to the available solutions in the literature whenever possible.
